There's an update to this story, in which he did leave to live with his friend because he realized they were just love-bombing him and nothing they said or did would change the abuse/neglect he suffered. That if mom was so blissfully unaware about the abuse he suffered, how is it she never noticed the bruises on him?

Actually he did forgive him, this is quite an old story but from what I can remember he’s an adult living in an apartment and he is still working on the bond of him and Richard (correct me if I’m wrong I swear that the last time I heard this story was like a year ago or something)

I would have abbreviated his name to "Dick" and appended the surname "Head"

There has been an update In short: OP's mother and Richard promised to change and actually treat him with love, but nothing changed so OP moved out and went no contact with everyone

its sad that no one, not even the mom loved him, if she did then why was it only him that was left behind, given almost nothing, treated horribly by everyone while she just stood there and let it happen, she hated him just as much as the stepdad and his family did. he should just leave them behind since hes not welcomed even though he has done nothing but been born

The only thing that mother, hopefully soon to be widow can do to make it right to her son is to ensure that there can never be another to the bloodline of her ex-husband lineage

There is an update the parents went back to doing exactly what they were doing before because people like that don’t change they just don’t so OP moved out and went NC with everyone

“My dad realized he lost me when I called him his first name.” He never had you to begin with

this is the only time i have actually almost cried from a redit story

I know how OP feels I have been in the same boat and it is very hard to attempt to forgive anybody for what they have done and I've tried and I'm still trying 6 years down the road it doesn't get any easier

I'm mainly 4 years due to a major thing, but also 16 years down the road from a bunch of stuff and have concluded it might take me another 10 years before I might forgive one person.

I believe there was an update where soon after Richard started ignoring OP again so he moved out.

Why was OP never taken with them on vacation? A lot of this is very simple, and had solutions years ago

because no one liked him not even his mother, probably because she thought of her ex who she probably disliked which transferred to her son.

What did he expect to happen?

Sometimes there are father/mother son/daughter relationships that end either good or bad it depends on the person who is brave enough to say I'm sorry and I know that because i hade a bad relationship with my father but now we have the best relationship and we have fun it never too late to spine time with your family because you never know when it will be the last 😁

I’ll be the paragraph guy So apparently when his non biological dad met OP’s mom she was already pregnant because her Ex (Op’s biological dad) left her after she got pregnant. So after OP was born Richard (Non biological dad) never really cared about him and only really dated about his biological kids. Richards family was especially rude to OP because when OP’s mom got together with Richard they were not happy that she was already pregnant. And since Richard really didn’t care about OP and OP was left at Richards family me members house so often he went through a lot of physical and mental abuse from them. Afterwards after OP found out about Richard not being his real dad, OP opened up about all the abuse and torment he went through and eventually said that he could forgive both of his parents. However he could never forgive His dads family for what they put him through.
