This is by far, to me, the best mod idea for subnautica. Not stupidly huge creatures that can eat the Aurora or overpowered stuff that destroy the game. Just a hypothetical dlc and I would love to see this ingame one day !

You are so right about the focus of just more leviathans rather than regular creatures and fish in people's fanworks! I wanna see more fishies! More smaller creatures! I want more biodiversity, rather than just jamming the game full off big scary monsters lol

Aci this looks beyond incredible. Please please make this mod a reality I would play it SO FAST! So far it indeed sounds more like a full DLC than just a mod and it has the feel of something that could be in the actual game. Hope you can make this a reality so we can play through it! An outlandish idea I had was if you could achieve a black mesa-esque situation with this project where unknown worlds gives you money, a license, and even further support while keeping your idea for the DLC intact. It’s honestly probably never going to happen, but a man can dream

I really like how you've been respectful and stayed true to the original spirit of the original game, expanding on the exploration, the lesser creatures and the ecosystem they form and live in, as well as the horror created by the big sea-monster leviathans. Really like the idea of this being an optional post-game quest to explore deeper (pun intended) and just be more of the game we all loved. Amazing initiative and I really wish to see this realized into a full DLC

If this ever is turned into a mod it would be awesome especially if it would be compatible with other huge mods like Sea to Sea

Fascinating design. I love how the new sub is a...it's not a replacement to the Cyclops, from the looks of it, it's more like mobile science room. Really interesting! Did you do all those models yourself...? That looks like a hellacious amount of work already - seriously, those models are REALLY high-quality. I'd say y'all nailed your goal of making this look like DLC.

I sincerely hope you can bring back the Abyssal Slopes the Void use to have. Where it had realistic angled slopes that would stop at about 3000 meters. Sad they removed that for whatever reason

Yeah, I remember playing a few years ago in my first playthrough, i tried to jump down there and build a base because I thought it was so cool. But at my last playthrough it was just a solid deep dive down, which is okay from a gameplay perspective but still kinda off putting

Just imagine, you go down to a new island and explore like normal, but when you see the underside you realize that the island is mostly made up of one GIANT SKULL. Honestly modders and mods like this are what help keep this wonderful game alive. Hope you get the attention you deserve!

one small idea I had was that when the aurora exploded a semi-large part came off and this is what has the hydra ship inside of it which would explain why its not anywhere else. so maybe down near the bottom you can fin this new section which would be where the captain quarters fell to so that you need to go there to get the rocket which could be how the player gets the first hint that there is something over there

I absolutely LOVE seeing this! The ship and creatures look like they can be in canon. No other mods have ships that actually fit into the main game and look this good. I hope it all works well, the void is such an interesting place to explore than to just leave it there filled with leviathans alone.

Hi. Really hyped by this project. Hope you guys can make it come true. Let us know if there is a kickstart on it one day for us to help. 2 things i'd like to add : - First, about the Lore. You can work "storywise" on an unknown of the base game : Bart Torgal demise. I'll quote the wiki here : "His last PDA suggests he died after the destruction of the Deep Grand Reef base, having followed lights of unknown origin." Well, some work can be done on it and you can add some new clues about what happened to him or some useful blueprints left by him. - Second, try to not repeat the 2 main errors of the BZ DLC please : ----> one , keep on the genuine TERROR of the leviathans by making sure they almost kill you at each encounter and that you can't really do a thing about them, but also that you can have a way to get past them . The terror comes from the imagination of the player. You have to NOT WANT TO GO/KNOW what's this levi and even when you know, still be horrified to go in his area. What I mean is that the shadow Levi was nice but when used to it , you just let your Prawn take the hit and then repair since it's impossible to get past without triggering it. ----> second, don't do empty useless biomes (like the world edge or the big zone with the eye jelly). Good Luck !

I'm curious if its addressed with lore as to why the islands have life since they're in the dead zone. The only reason why there's life in the normal game's playable area is due to its proximity to the Sea Emperor and the vents.

Honestly I think Unknown Worlds should definetly bring you in to a new Subnautica game development.

I saw the pyramid and the first thought that came to mind was "I better not hear someone asking me to d-d-d-duel them while running for my life." In all seriousness, this looks amazing and when I saw the reveal trailer before coming here, I thought it was an official Subnautica game. It looks fantastic and I love the concept. It would be really cool to play this with friends at 2 in the morning with proximity chat.

Hopefully this mod is turned into reality, everything about it seems incredible, I always loved the meteor, and how the game never tells you to go there, so when you accidentally find it, it gives off a VERY eerie and creepy vibe, and I like that kind of unexplained mystery, but seeing it be the beggining of something bigger and more game mechanics is also AWESOME!

This legit seems more in depth than Subnautica itself.

If it does get turned into an actual mod I would LOVE to see multiplayer support because like, who DOESN'T want to drive their cyclops into the void while the person in the back has no clue what's happening?

DUDE? YES? I play Subnautica pretty often again lately, but I'm itching for something new to do since I've seen it all before hundreds of times, I would LOVE to see y'all flesh this concept and mod out more.

Wow. Im lost for words. This is just fantastic. The idea is perfect and by far sounds terrifying as all hell. Youve smashed it right out of the park with this concept idea and im all for it. Im one to not have actually played through the first game properly but this would be enough for me to buy it on pc just for this. I hope this gets the attention it deserves.

6:01 Wouldn't it be more in-line with Subnautica to have it be an escape pod that got super (un)lucky and sank onto one of the islands in cluster 1? Or maybe its hanging off the island, stuck to some semi-sentient vine thing? Maybe foreshadowing the tentacle biome stuff? Then all you'd need is a distress call for it late into the game, and the PDA commenting that the distress call is coming from WAAAAY out into the Void.

Having done played both Subnautica games on my channel and loved them I would love for this to become a real thing! I’d definitely do a series on it!

Maybe when the Aurora crashed it also dropped some islands off into that side of the void? It’d be really neat to have an area it’s easier to go around via void to get to rather than through since it’s hard to get a Cyclops/Hydra (presumably) through next to the Aurora. But it could also have a neat optional “boss” or something. Maybe a crab. On the other hand it could have some neat lore and/or loot (the two biggest motivators for gamers, as we know) hidden inside a particularly derelict precursor base, or some Aurora bits that fell down. “Sensors indicate a medium sized island in the Dead Zone behind the Crash Zone. It is likely that it was broken off when the Aurora crashed. We’re unlikely to find immediately relevant information, but soil analysis of the Crash Zone implies high mineral concentrations were present before our crash. It’s likely that the island contains the remainder of minerals from the area.”

Remember these phrases: Mezmers grow and fight. Cut content isn't the only cut thing added. They fought fire with fire. They came from beyond even the other world. ( i don't want to fully spoil all the surprises )

I did not check the channel who posted it, and the trailer was so fucking good that i thought it was a third subnautica game. If you are somehow planing on implementing Al-an, I don't think you could without some continuity issues, since he has been in storage since long before the Mercury 2 had crashed in sector 0, other than that I love this concept, my favorite so far is the precursor pyramid, it's so much more different than the blocky facilities we're used to.

Always loved subnautica specifically the first game, with its vast and eerre atmosphere, building on it even further is an AWESOME Idea. Incredibly impressive models and visuals! Absolutely mind blowing quality for a 3rd party idea. Hope to see it come to life, would happily pay for a DLC such as this!

With this and Return of The Ancient the future seems pretty bright for Subnautica fanbase

this seems very promising. I really like that you're using existing elements from the game, like the void and the meteor. maybe add some more? I can't think of anything on the top of my head, but I can imagine there are many more out there. this would build on the idea to make subnautica replayable, including existing places.

Most people would expect an island to secretly be a leviathan, but I think it would be much more dangerous and unique if instead of a leviathan, it could be a bunch of piranha like fish that just surround you and your sub and eat away at it! It looks gorgeous, I really want to see this become a mod. It would be so exciting. One last adventure with Ryley and the classic Subnautica, before the new game comes out. If you can, I’d very much appreciate if you could include some Precursor Tech as a reward for going to the deepest island in the void. Something similar to the Quantum Locker and the Recycler from Below Zero. That way, we could carry even more stuff around with us in the Cyclops than ever before.

ngl. I want a TON of void content. I think a game based in the void and a total horror redo would be gerat. My favorite part of the original game was the tenseness of the cyclops and the sonar trying to stealth through the end game areas. I hope that feeling can be recreated and drawn out a bit.

I like the crystal theming on here, Aci! And though we do see Architect tech in this, it seems to be quite the departure from our usual Precursor storyline.
