Thanks for a quick no nonsense tutorial! I am thinking about getting into this, could you tell me the advantage of sublimation to just printing on a sticker or some other material? Thanks.

hi! Sublimation is a permanent thing. You will never be able to get your prints off of whatever you apply it to. And then obviously with a sticker, you can just peel it right off.

So u put the design on the white part and it showed through to the clear? I would think the white would make it hard to see. Thank you for showing this, i would have shied away from these ornaments if I hadn't seen it in action. 🤗

I should’ve shown what it looks like putting the image on the clear side. But it’s honestly terrible, I had already threw it away when I recorded this. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Do you think you could sublimate on clear acrylic circles from Hobby Lobby? Then maybe paint on the back so you can see it?😊

You can actually! I have a video on this already: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hJ95p9CMfbzIgpc.html You also can HTV the back of clear acrylic instead of painting. These circles, although say are acrylic, I feel like there is a difference between them and the acrylic that I use with the laser cutter. Its almost like it has some sort of vapor so it can withstand heat better.

@@ashleefalco good day. I sublimate on cast clear acrylic. Did you ever had problems of tape indenting on the clear side? Also is the type of paper critical for sublimating as I used a blue backside paper but when it was finishe I used a cheap paper with orange backside and it works on all the materials but on acrylic I started to get moisture issues. Prints was left to dry but did not fix the problem

@@pietpompiepompiepiet940 when you sublimate on acrylic you will have the tape marks. Although you can sublimate on acrylic, it's not technically suppose to be sublimated. So the high heat does melt the acrylic a bit. I would suggest either lighter pressure or less pressing time. I'm unsure what you mean about paper? All my sublimation paper has a light pink haze on the back.

@@ashleefalco hi It seems the paper with the light orange backside takes longer to dry but it is no name brand I have. Waiting for A-Sub delivery It is only pressing acrylic when I experience problems with this paper but other substrates it works fine

How do you make sure it doesn't curl?

these particular ornaments are made for sublimation so they shouldn't curl. If you are using plain acrylic (white or clear) that isn't made for sublimation but you still can use to sublimate ... After pressing smash it under a hard surface until cool. Generally I have a cold heat press, After I do the press I clamp my cold press down until it's cooled.

Did you use parchment paper or butcher paper? You said parchment but everyone else says not to so I want to make sure 😅

I use whatever I have on hand. In this particular video it was a roll of white paper, like copy paper only a bit thicker. But I’ve used both parchment & butcher

that definitely wasn't suppose to happen. Please make sure you're using heat resistant tape and if you are then maybe the tape quality is not good.

Generally yes, this is correct. But the particular item I was using: you don’t. I tried it both ways and doing it the way I demonstrated in the video is the best way.

these are! You can use regular white or clear acrylic to make these, but there are additional steps you'll need to take in order for them to turn out.
