Not a Ford fan in particular but really enjoy watching this being turned around. It's very relatable watching someone roll around on their drive in the rain with some basic tools.

Good to see a uk build, love goonzsquad channel but the cars they fix are never seen on my roads in Northern Ireland. Hat goes off to you doing this in your back yard getting soaked by the rain and probably froze at the same time. Reach out for someone to help fund your build I.e do a paid add. I’m following and wishing you all the best sir

Great to see a rebuild job from the UK! Keep up the good work! One tip with the gearbox fluid. Always undo the filler plug first. That way you’re not stuck with a gearbox with no fluid in when you come to fill up and can’t undo the plug. Doesn’t apply to this as you have no driveshaft just a general tip for viewers :)

On the subframe at the back where the bolts go threw to the box section on the chassis there is another hole which you can use to align the subframe, it's on the drivers side at the back, get a large long bolt, sorry can not remember the size, but it inserts into a hole in the box section and helps you align it, hope this helps you!....After watching you with the verniers looks like you did a good job anyway.....Take care...

Hi Steve, I’m enjoying your story unfold, keep it up 👍 . Just a quick suggestion before you go too far , check the gear box for signs of damage, that drive shaft looks like it took quite a wack , make sure the diff still turns the opposite wheel in opposite direction to the one you rotate, just thinking out loud 😜.

Another great video Steve! mate just a quick heads up re. gearbox oil, if you fill gear box oil until it comes out of filler hole you've over filled it, should be 20mm below filler hole, easiest way is once you've emptied it, just put in 1.7ltrs, that's the correct amount.

@ 01:30 That inner CV joint is exactly the same design using a retention circlip as later ('73 on) Classic Minis. They were called 'Pot Joints' (now now no dodgy comments please!) and there is actually a proper tool for removing them. Even got one on KZread: kzread.info/dash/bejne/m6KF2s2QgbHAe6Q.html Had to smile at your adding a 4th item. Reminded me of the Monty Python 'No one expects the Spanish Inquisition' sketch: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hq2hkq-IkqnWhKw.html (I possibly spend too much time on KZread .....) Great Vlog again mate, all nicely explained. Good to see someone with the sort of facilities most of us have (ie not a lot) and still doing a proper job. 👍

Launch control is pointless as I think I can take off quicker manually plus you sound like an idiot at the lights with it banging off the false the rev limiter at 3500rpm. Yeah, they’re called ‘external torx’ apparently. I now have a set in my possession. Another question you might know: Are the front struts interchangeable? i.e. can I put a used passenger side strut on the drivers side? Thanks!

Another cracking video Steve, slightly surprised you didn''t take the opportunity to upgrade the rear engine mount though, considering this is going to be your track weapon?

Great videos Steve, loving the Ford rebuild, I know time is of the essence with the build etc but why not get the subframe powder coated whilst it was waiting for fitment?

That's a good question. I did consider this and I'm not really in a rush so could have done it. But the big reason I didn't do it was because 6 yrs ago when I bought my focus track car I done a full underbody restoration on it thinking I'm keeping the car for life. 6yrs later I gutted it and sent it to the scrap yard. All that hard work for nothing. So now I thought I'm not wasting my time being super anal just to then in a few yrs sell the car on etc.

Hi Steve I have the same car and am in the middle of doing the megane rs calliper conversion which requires 300mm discs of an st170! Was wondering what discs you used to yours on the front of your st170 and how good are they for track use?

Do you know the torque settings for the subframe bolts? I’ve tightened mine up but getting a big clonk sound when I accelerate hard then same again when I brake?
