Subclavian Artery
- Right Subclavian Artery comes from the Brachiocephalic Trunk
- Left Subclavian Artery comes directly from the Aorta
Subclavian artery mneumonics: VIT. C, D (as in VITamin C, D)
1st part of subclavian:
- Vertebral Artery
○ Prevertebral Part
○ Transverse Part:
§ Muscular Branch - for deep muscles of the neck
§ Spinal branch - upper 5th-6th cervical segments of spinal cord
○ Intracranial part:
§ Anterior Spinal Artery: descends along the Anterior median fissure
§ Posterior Spinal Arteries: descends along the posterolateral sulcus
§ Inferior Posterior Cerebellar artery
§ Meningeal Branch - for the posterior meninges
○ Basilar artery:
§ Inferior Anterior Cerebellar Artery
§ Superior Cerebellar Artery
§ Branches for pons and mesencephalon (midbrain)
§ Posterior Cerebral Artery
- Internal Thoracic artery
○ Divides into 2 parts:
§ Superior Epigastric Artery (goes through sternocostal triangle and communicates with the Inferior Epigastric Artery)
§ Musculophrenic Artery - gives off anterior intercostal arteries for lower 5th-6th intercostal space
○ Mneumonic for branches of internal thoracic artery: PAST BPM
§ Pericardiophrenic artery
§ Anterior intercostal artery
§ Sternal artery
§ Thymic artery
§ Bronchial artery
§ Perforating artery
§ Mediastinal artery
- Thyrocervical Trunk
○ Inferior Thyroid Artery. Branches of inferior thyroid artery:
§ Inferior Laryngeal branch
§ Tracheal branch
§ Esophageal branch
§ Pharyngeal branch
○ Ascending Cervical Artery:
§ Muscular branch
§ Spinal branches
- Suprascapular Artery
- Transverse Cervical Artery
○ Superficial cervical artery
○ Dorsal Scapualr artery (either from the Transverse cervical or from the subclavian artery itself (3rd part))
2nd Part of the subclavian artery
- Costocervical Trunk
○ Deep cervical
○ Supreme intercostal artery
§ Posterior intercostal arteries
3rd Part of the subclavian artery
Dorsal Scapular artery (either from the subclavian artery or from the transverse cervical artery)

Hi Sir you are doing a very good job I have a small doubt on your video according to the complete anatomy 3D model app Bronchial artery comes from the Third posterior intercostal artery but you said in this video ( 6:07 ) It's one of the side branches of Internal thoracic artery. Please clarify

What about the Atlantic part of the vertebral artery? In med school its says 4 parts; prevertebral, transverse, Atlantic and intracranial. I'm honestly confused, I just need ànswers

Nice video, its good if you just want to remind yourself of the branches although i think you should make a full detailed video on where exactly some of those branches pass and their relationship with nearby elements for example how n.laryngeus reccurens passes behind the a.thyroidea inferior and you could add some clinical fun facts, that would make it even more amazing for more experienced students that can now apply this knowledge in practice. Also thanks for opening my eyes on these variations because i was always taught that a.transversa cervicis is the ONLY artery that arises from spatium interscalenum and instead a.cervicalis superficialis arises from the truncus thyrocervicalis :O
