Clearly we know what is going on here why you’re not getting any of these jobs at Subaru dealerships. You’re more than qualified and could wrench circles around many of the techs already there in my opinion. The issue is they do not want to take chances with a KZread content creator with almost 40,000 subscribers revealing to the world their dirty secrets and shortcuts. Remember the “master tech“ with the ratchet strap pulling the dashboard on a airbag recall? And that was seen by you during a quick walk-through in the shop. Imagine if you were there for one full day? Our heads would spin if we find out how they “save time” on jobs. They are very aware of this. They’re not fooling around with the chance of that stuff ending up on the Internet. That’s whySubaru won’t touch you if they know about your KZread channel. This being said, they are missing out on a great tech especially in a time where they need qualified technicians. I actually can kind of see why they would get cold feet on the idea of hiring you. Their loss.

May I ask a question, my car in incline road accelerates very slowly but when it speeds up there is no problem with acceleration. It can be based on torque converter.

I've been having a unique problem for a while now with my 98 Forester. When the transmission is in Drive and engine is under load during accelerating and everything is up to temperature, I hear a whine that increases pitch with engine speed, sounds almost like power steering whine. The ATF is slightly overfull and air bubbles present on the dipstick. I'm wondering if the noise I'm hearing is air in the trans pump or maybe torque converter? I know overfilled will create air bubbles, but also wondering if the trans harness oring being leaking may be allowing air in as well? Sounds like I'll need to do a pan drop and new fluids with new seals is a minimum. Have you ever heard of or experienced anything like this?

Mr.Subaru hats off to you. I'm researching Subaru's Lineartronic CVTs for a few reasons... 1) because I've owned/driven/repaired/loved five Subarus in the past 20 years, and 2) because I'm thinking of buying an Ascent (TR690). I'm frugal with my money and I'm scared. But I've learned a lot on the Subaru CVT & TR580 from your video (thank you). One big thing I've learned from you (and reading your comments) is that the Subaru Lineartronic CVT is NOT a Jatco and is NOT an Aisin -- that knowledge is very important to me. You said the Lineartronic is 100% in-house Subaru engineered and built. Is that true? If true, that knowledge is more important to me than anything I've learned elsewhere, and I've a lot of time searching the web trying to find the answer. Then I visited your KZread channel. THANK YOU. Transparency is awesome. Subaru should try it more, they'd sell more cars. Cheers.

Good video. I had mine replaced under the extended warranty along with the torque converter. Well I'm 500 miles over the extended warranty and Subaru of America only offered a 350$ parts and service certificate. It sucks cause they changed the valve body barely 12k miles ago. It seems these cvt transmissions are doomed even with replacement. Same code as before. P2763 and p2762. Any thoughts? Maybe the wiring harness? That was the only thing that hasn't been done according to the tsb.

Then I stop the car completely, when I'm on D there are terrible shakes in the cabine, the whole car shakes, it really rattles badly, when I shift to N or P - it looks like it goes away and car works much more smooth. What this can be? Did You ever spotted such issue? I cannot return the car to dealership because Subaru EU is not threating failrly cars brought to EU from USA.

Sounds like rear. The question I have is mine bogs down when taking off from a stop. Doesn’t die but shudders especially on hills sometimes. Could that be a torque converter issue. Hello Mr Subaru. Great video. I’m thinking of buying an Outback 3.0R. First of all, what do you think of these vehicles? Any common problems? How long can they last? Secondly, I’m looking at this one in particular, which is a 2009, with 130k miles. In really good shape. It starts up fine but runs rough afterwards, and apparently it needs a new ECU. What do you think of that? I’m selling my 2001 Outback H6 due to here in Canada, lots of harsh weather and it’s just really rusty underneath and in need of too many repairs. But I did get 175k miles.

There was an issue with this transmission and something do with the torque converter filter or something to do with the T690 doesn't have a filter and the T580 does. So to the point if the torque converter goes out like this you basically screw the rest of your tranny up. My suggestion is if this happens get it swapped asap as if you don't I would think over extended time your gonna keep pushing chunks through your tranny. Again though can't blame the CVT for this as it is a torque converter issue.....

That's a TCC issue. Next time you go to stop, put the transmission in neutral before braking. See if it still stalls. If it doesn't, it's the TC. If the valve body was bad, you'd have codes for solenoids.

My 2011 Outback started stalling a couple days ago but only at the first couple full stops. It would not happen for the rest of the 150+ miles drive each time. Both times car was warm but trans prob wasnt yet. Bought the car from my parents at 125k miles and it always felt like it didn’t really enjoy the city stop and go very much. Felt a little bouncy or fighting itself from stopping at times. Figured maybe it was just the way the CVT was supposed to be. When i first got the car i brought in to dealership do a trans oil change but they advised against it. Now 141k miles with a possibly faulty torque converter I’d have to change much of the fluid anyways if i were to change the torque converter, Possibly doing harm to the trans? Ive had luck with an 08 Legacy Subaru trans shifting weird or holding gears just a little longer than normal fixing it with just a trans service. Ok my question finally. Do you think a “simple” trans service could fix the issue? I think u mentioned in the TR690, faulty bushing ports doesn’t allow the fluid to bleed and take off pressure from the clutch plate to disengage it from the “flywheel”. My local dealership is charging $825 for labor and $1050 for the torque converter and fluids. Do i have them just change the old fluid that might be sludging when cold? Or go and change out the torque converter? I found the torque converter around 550$ online and at another dealership. Idk how much fluid is.

I mentioned on an earlier video that the CVT from JATCO was already having problems, you told me where did I hear of it? At the dealership I work with - now you are seeing them too. Don't worry, you will get more of these failures. Not as good at the four and five speed units from JATCO. Wish it was not true, but now you know I was not making this up. Under 100,000 miles as well.
