PLEASE learn what you're talking about. Billet does NOT mean something cut from a block of aluminum which I know you're pointing at. Billet WHAT? One of the twenty high-end steel alloys? Plastic? Titanium? And yes...aluminum. Anything that is cut from a solid block of material is billet!@!@ FFS I hate people who characterize it! "Ohhhh look! billet!" (saucy look around because they just "recognized something."

Same! My girlfriend in 1989 had a subi wagon (it was a '78 I think) and had shift on the fly 4 wheel drive!! They were always WAY ahead of their time! This thing is next, next, next level.

Vermont Sportscar is absolutely killin it. This build is immaculate. World class. I’m in awe over here.

You've pretty much brought my dream to life! The dash, the aero, WAGON...,the pure functionality with aesthetics just a byproduct of the design coming together PERFECTLY. Nothing is on accident. One word....CLEAN.

I'm working at Reiger suspension in Holland, CNC machined the top mounts! I do remember making them. Cool to see them back, awsome car!

Definitely my favorite Hoonigan car so far. Wagon from the eighties with the white livery, badass bodywork and beautiful interior. Don't think it would get much better!

Travis Pastrana is my super hero! The man can do anything, will break his butt doing it, and just comes back with something cooler everytime. A true legend and idol!

It's Travis' hoonicorn. Absolutely badass.

I detailed the Flatirons ski car for this and my boss wouldn't tell me where we were shipping the car; so sick to be able to see my "fingerprints" in the video. VSC and subaru absolutely killed it with this thing!

The craftsmanship and imagination in this wagon basically leave me speechless. So when is Travis gonna make a twin screw supercharged Flat 6 SVX? (j/k but it would be in line with the wild Subie life he rockin')

I love how proud homeboy is of all the details put into this car. Just grinning the whole interview. 😂 Cool to see great work boys

One of the coolest and most incredible cars I've ever seen. They need to offer that dashboard for public consumption, so rad!

From a design point of view, the similarity with the Delta S4 is impressive, like it seems the Delta stretched and longer. I really like it a lot, very well done guys!!!

Wouldve been better to see more details about the mechanism behind the active aero in fenders, quarters, and wing. Same with at least a shot of the headers, the underside of the car, control arms, the nitty gritty that we used to see in build breakdowns. These are really cool cars and I think the mechanical details are the best part.

If you're really interested in the active aero you can just look at pneumatic linear actuators and you'll get the gist of the basic mechanical functions. Pneumatic linear actuators mated to the wing and aero panels backed up with electric air pumps and pressure tanks with a control board that houses the solenoids that open the valves to control air flow to each with bleed-off valves for when the aero no longer needs to be activated.

Everything about this build is pure perfection!! Absolutely incredible! 🙌🏻

Subaru has a special place in my heart, in 1989 I loaded up an 83 wagon and drove from Wyoming to San Diego when I was 16, could not wait a minute longer. Times were different then, hard to imagine my niece or nephew doing something like like that now.

So many young people struggle to communicate as effectively as the youngsters of past, mainly due to staring into screens and socialising online, rather than in person. I've noticed a bit shift in the communication skills and mannerisms of the new generations coming through.

This guy that's doing the whole walk around and talking is doing a amazing job at it! He was Def so well spoken to all the people ND all the info he had.. you can tell he is ment for that job... amazing car def

Such an amazing piece of kit. What incredible engineering. The dashboard is the best I have ever seen, so much love for the 80's throw back.

I was lucky enough to take a tour of Vermont Sports Car's facility some years ago. Amazing place. Not surprised that they're able to produce these awesome builds with the setup that they have there.

Knight Rider comes to mind with the active aero(Super Pursuit Mode! Lol) and the wild, old school digital cluster layout. Sick build!! Can't wait to see this thing smokin tires

I currently have an 82 DL Brat and 84 GL "Turbo Traction" Hardtop so this car has so much love from me. I really do love all the little pieces from the original EA81 "Gen 2" car. It also really gives me a ton of inspiration when it comes time to build the 84.

this is a whole other era of Subaru dominance i haven't even heard about. i love it, and now i want to learn everything about it.

Awesome piece of kit ... I had the pleasure of watching Travis tearing up the hill climb live at Goodwood earlier this year in that car .... it looked and sounded spectacular - especially when he ran it wide at Molecomb corner, the whole crowd erupted!!

I'm geeking so hard. #wagon lovers rejoice. This thing is bananas in the most 80's way. A perfect and most bad-ass tribute to the classic Subaru Wagon.

Can't wait to see the full Gymkhana video with this absolutely rad car.

The brake down of every detail in the this car and the way y’all talked about it was fken amazing! Loved this!

Picked up a 2022 WRX from the dealer that has the wagon this car was based off of today, being able to look at the base car in person and see this video in the same day is amazing. That dealer has a lot of cool old school Subarus in their collection!

I have always loved wagons (own an E30 touring now) and man I love everything about this machine! Iconic lines with modern technology and a killing perfomance, absolutely dream car!

As someone who grew up with these old school Subaru wagons and still has a third gen Loyale I really appreciate how much of that 80s charm and detail you packed in despite the car having almost no foundational crossover with the original. So many familiar elements and nods to the history of this car, I absolutely love it.

I had a 2dr 87’ GL hatchback 4WD with the blue interior decades ago and those little control stalks the come out either side of the dash and all of the exterior details, wagon wheels bring back a ton of memories. What a cool build.

I love the Retro Gauge cluster on the original wagon and the Pastrana build!

That translates to needing the economic backing of a small country.

This thing is so sick. All the details like the blue carbon dash, the font on the screen, the roof racks etc are what make it.

Being a fan of what Subaru is and has brought to the world over the years, this is nothing short of amazing. I can't stop reminiscing about all my past Subaru experiences. Thanks to all involved in putting the car together, and sharing it with all of us in such great detail.

Its got to be one of the coolest cars out there right now.

This is a work of art, I saw it in a video from Goodwood this year. That dash reminds me of my Aunties mk2 Vauxhall Astra GTE, it had a digital dash board, and yes everything with a turbo in the 80’s had to have a badge 💪🏼 The lines of this car remind me of my old Mk1 golf This is by far one of the best “creations” I’ve ever seen 😍😍

So many neat details! I really enjoyed the accessible level of detail when discussing each part of the car, it's so easy to end up in the stratosphere when talking shop.

I saw this build at Boxerfest this year and I was SHOCKED there weren't more people around it. Such a cool build!!

Wow I have been in love with this car since I seen it in Goodwood. My 1st car 🚗 was a '84 GL 10 4WD 5speed wagon it was Grey with a digital dash plus my spare tire was underneath the hood. Seeing this car reminds me of the great years that I had in the past.

Nothing less than a complete work of art. This is one of the most beautiful, consistently-made spectacular vehicle.

These insane remakes of classics are the best.

That rear mounted radiator and carbon scoop that forces the air in and out is one of my favorite parts.

Vermonter here and I'm so proud this was built and designed in my state. Vermont Sports Car knows how to build a Subaru let me tell ya. This car is so bad ass. That dash is the coolest thing ever. Thanks Hoonigan for doing this video.

My mum had one of these from about a year later! Man I loved that old car. Extremely cool. Whoever did the graphics package for that dash deserves a raise.

For me it's the most desirable car ever build. Can't wait to see it in hardcore action!

The air brakes remind me of the episode of Knight Rider when he got the upgrades and had the active braking added!

This a complete work of art. It's not retro in the sense of the word, although it's based on a car that's pushing 40 years old, but it's a throwback to a certain style and done with such perfection. That dash... Hats f*cking off to the team behind this beauty.

Saw footage of the car run up the hill at this years Goodwood Festival of Speed. It's absolutely bananas. With all the aero going it looks like a bug out of Starship Troopers.

I owed 3 Subaru GL's #2 1984s & 83 ...absolute monsters! Unstoppable in whatever I pointed them at snow,mud, swamp didn't matter. Dude said the original wouldn't take what Travis threw at it .... bro Travis Pastrana I quote couldn't kill a well maintained 1984 GL wagon if he tried!

Seeing these kinda wild builds for Gymkhana is pretty neat, and it makes you wonder what other strange but fun things they might build in the future. Personally, I'd love to see something definitely not meant for it, like a 70s DeVille, Eldorado, Toronado, Town Car, LTD, etc type car built to be raced and tossed about and even lightweight, at least for their size :P While I assume a modern engine would be swapped in, it'd be fun to see if they'd be able to build a race engine out of the big engines from those too, like the Cadillac 500, as I'm sure there might be a couple of horsepowers hidden in a 8.2 liter. :P But back on topic, the Subaru wagon is amazing, I remember seeing those as a kid and I kinda loved them then too, it's a very unique build and I love it.

Still mindblown that there is a shop that can do this better than OEM. These guys are geniuses! This and last year car are masterpieces! Wonder if they consider doing small runs of these or if approached can build more for private customers?

I'd really like to see a deeper dive on the aero side of this car. Really curious to see how effective those wheel arch flaps and the wing is from both a numbers standpoint and from the drivers perspective.

I saw the car at Goodwood @@NeilAlvin : one of the fastest ICE cars this year, but I was unsure on how effective the active aero was as the car looked very unsettled under heavy braking (perhaps that is Travis preference/driving style though) Pastrana actually posted very similar times to the Gobstopper 2 (in 2016). I'd just be really interested to see raw data and hear Travis discussing how it affects the car.

Judging by how much flopping around those front fibreglass panels did when they were activated in the video, I'd suggest the "active aero" is mostly a gimmick.

@@AJ-oj5eu Yeah, I am unconvinced on its effectiveness which is why I'd be keen to see if there is any science behind it. Be a shame if it is just on there as a gimmick as that would cheapen what is otherwise an impressive build.

One of my best memories is that of Travis Pastrana pulling off a double backflip on a dirtbike in the X-Games. And then, after breaking his leg in the very same competition, modifying his dirt rally car so that he could operate it without that leg and still take part in the rally competition. Any other athlete would have dropped out to heal. This guy said, nope. I'm still in this. Travis Pastrana is the greatest athlete in extreme sports history. I have to present an apology to Tony Hawk, who was my original favorite in extreme sports. Sorry Tony. Pastrana dialed it up to eleven.
