My 2016 4runner went into Limp Mode condition on my way home about a month ago. WTF? I've had zero problems with the car since I bought it new. So I pull over and try to figure out what could cause it. Thankfully there is a "Scangauge II" installed to monitor transmission temperature when I tow with it. I accessed the trouble codes and did a goodle search. It brought "Bank 1 Secondary Air Valve" failure. Hmmmmm???? I reset and clear the codes. The vehicles was back to normal. No more issues on the way home. The next day, I figured out what the problem was. I was operating my shortwave ham radio when this happened. The radio puts out 100 Watts of RF power into the Tarheel antenna on the back of the vehicle. Some stray RF probably got into the feedback wiring and caused a wrong voltage reading on the ECM input. I had to ground the exhaust in several places and install some RF chokes on the wiring harnesses to eliminate the problem. The problem never happened again.

Can't wait for part 2. I have been fighting the same problem ( P2138) on my 2011 Impala for months. Biggest problem is that it can go for weeks running fine and then "bang". Up pops the code with the reduced engine power situation. I strongly suspect a poor connection issue at the accelerator pedal. If I remove the wires from the connector housing and connect them individually to the pins, they don't seem very tight.

I had a 2008 Impala with a 3.6L. Code P2122. Identifix says, 1, try to reset the pcm by disconnecting the battery and touch them together for one minute with key off. 2, reconnect them, clear codes and check operation. 3, if P0606 returns replace the PCM. 4, if just the APP code returns then replace the APP connector with a new pigtail and run new wires from the pigtail all the way to the PCM, splicing in 6 inches from the PCM. Author of the article is Ralph Dahlen. I could not get it to act up again, so i returned the car to the customer as a "could not duplicate problem".

Had a similar problem with my 2008 Corolla. Had a evap code that cleared itself 2 weeks before. Couldn't trust the car. Thought I was going to have to get rid of it. Car finally started to missfire and than died. Had it towed to Toyota that had worked on twice before and there was no communiction with the scan tool. Replaced the computer (had 78,000 miles so still under warranty). Didn't have a clue and was going to replace the throttle body. Worked on it for 2 days and than mechanic read my 3 page report on the history and unplugged the charcoal cannister and away she goes. Connection was corroded shorting out the computer. Initially they told me bad gas or bad battery ground. Didn't seem like they knew how to trouble shoot. Repair cost $900.00 but Toyota covered $450. It always makes me laugh when my mrs is hanging around when im working on my car, if its a particularly difficult problem she'll stand there and just blurt out a lot of nonsense as to what the problem might be,95% of which is just silly, but there's always some small thing she'll witter on about will trigger something in my head and put me on the right track! It's weird, she knows absolutely nothing about cars!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Give me a mechanical throttle cable any day over throttle by wire. Less parts to go wrong.

Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics i have had dozens of those years of outbacks with bad cats that cause the flashing cruise and go into limp mode however they throw p0420 code with your code it’s gonna be the gas pedal assembly and yes it was intermittent and always happened at worse time pull over wait 10 min drive fine for another week

Imagine a world without men - no cars, no HVAC, no buildings, no modern medicine, no planes, no internet? Nothing at all. Next time you hear women celebrate being women, remember who really makes the world turn. Just saying. It made me think of all this when your wife was laughing about what is wrong with the car.
