Thanks for the info at the start about what crampons you carry- thats exactly the info I was looking for! I want to get into winter hill camping in the lakes/ Scotland this year and am trying to figure which micros spikes/ crampons to go for!? I've actually just bought the kahtoola Kts crampons but I was wondering if they will be over kill for some situations, and whether it might be best to carry the microspIkes ASWELL.. From what you say it seems this is what you do too!? Ps I'm close to buying you and blue a beer. Lol

Inspirational. I'm 36 years old and I spend 75% of my life sedentary - working on a laptop. I think it's making me depressed. These videos are inspiring me to recognise that this is no way to live. A lot of what you say about getting out there really resonates with me.

I have to say that you’re on the cusp of a life changing decision. No one wants depression or a sedentary lifestyle. It goes against our nature so worth considering a better way of living. I purposely never went in to an office job for that reason. Well done for recognising the issue just try act on those thoughts and get out more mate👍👍👍

I was the same bro, depressed, unhappy, after watching bushman and blue along with a couple of other youtubers I knew I had to follow suit. I went to the bank borrowed 5 grand and kitted myself and my little rescue dog Ruby out with all the gear my favourite youtubers use and went to some of the places they have been. I messaged a youtuber and asked for a good location for a first time wild camp. I arrived at hallin fell around 10:30 Christmas day, hiked to the top of the mountain put my tent up and stayed there for the next few days. the wind was unbelievable you could hear it howling down the valley then there would be 4/5 seconds of silence then the wind hit . I can't actually articulate how intense (excuse the pun) it was to be in a tent on a mountain in them conditions . I'm totally hooked . I've literally just returned home from 5 days in the Peak District and had the time of my life with my little dog.i got home about a hour ago seen bushman had a new video out so I started watching so I could drop a comment and thank him for the gift he's given me now and until the day I physically can't get out there. its changed my life. I maybe in 5 grands worth of debt but its 5 grand I'll happily pay back. so please bro get out there and start living. thank you bushman and blue dog . God bless the two of you.

Just a couple of tips if 5 grand sounds heavy. • Buy used gear, you can shave off 50%. • Smaller things like gloves, etc. can also be bought from military surplus stores, while the Big 4 can be bought from reputable brands.

I love videos where dogs are well taken care of

In my seventies now and banged up from arthritis, but I still dream of all those glorious days and nights (and handsome young men) spent in the grand outdoors. My dogs are now little lap dogs. Gone are the days of lifting my big Keeshonds, but watching you and Blue brings all those wonderful memories racing back. Sometimes, I can shut my eyes and am almost on the side of a mountain with you two. Thank you. You and Blue have the absolute, without a doubt, best outdoor-camping-hiking channel on KZread. Fabulous video Al! Incredible views on the summit. If Blue prefers boggy water to clean water, then he's truly an outside dog. The weather was absolutely horrendous. A year later and I'm playing & enjoying this again. Love watching blue's complete enjoyment, from leading the hike, rolling in the tufts of grass, drinking and eating and his awesome facial expressions. Dogs show us the way to live life fully.

I’ve put a lot of time in to his training but as you can see it pays off. I walked 21 miles the other day with a few friends over 10 mountains and never gave him one command all day. Worth training them well for an easy life!

I'm now in my 80swith a terminal lung condition so basically grounded, but I used to do what you do - used to teach aircrew survival and spent 10 years in the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue team, part of it as Deputy Team Leader. Happy days, but tough at times. Really enjoy your adventures and thoroughly approve of your sage advice to others about being prepared. Good onyer.

Extreme conditions having to decamp and get yourself and Blue off the mountain is hard enough - but to video and document it on your own is bordering on impossible. All credit to you, the production and quality of the images is outstanding, a real sense of extremely hard work packing away. This one is one of my favs which I keep returning to. I dunno if it's the sunshine on the snowy mountains/hills and rocks, the incredible cold and wind, the twinkle in Blue's eye or Bushmans steady commentary providing a calm and awsm narration. Anxiety sucks and so many people struggle with it. I actually believe that the calm of nature helps many people with anxiety and worth trying to expand your own personal comfort zone slowly by stepping out further each time. Definitely try and when you don’t feel like it watch one of my calming chaotic videos 😂👍👍👍

The weather can definitely catch you out and become dangerous quickly. Worth moving slow and with care in those conditions 👍👍👍

Really enjoying your videos. Only watched a few so far. Certainly making me think about getting fit again to try some of those mountains. Did a couple in the lakes in my youth but nothing like that for around 30 years. Keep the videos coming.

Deep snow and freezing rain on the way here, so just like every other day, the dog has to go out for a spin. Really enjoy these winter camp outs Al. You make it look so easy but I've been there and it's bloody hard work a lot of times.

Superb mate. Watched it twice. 😂Absolutely love watching blue and you together. The bond is amazing and he is such a good dog. My lab is getting old now bless her. Her camping days are over. I’ve Never done red pike. Looks a brute of a climb and I imagine even worse coming down. Great vid as always. Take it easy guys!!!! ATB, Craig.

Twice😂😂😂. It was a decent adventure with the added weather. It’s a good walk up even though it’s steep and a bit of a scramble at times. Best thing is you start at 450m😉. Cheers Craig. Might get out for a camp at some point with you👊… if you get out more than 4 times this year😂 as you said in your video at least once a month! I’ll hold you to that👍👍👍

In cold temperature settings, to place in your camping accessory kit, get some hand warmers, great addition for your gloves and place a few in your bedding keeps you warm as well.
