I saw Styx, REO Speedwagon, and Journey-90 minutes each, at Pittsburgh’s old Civic Arena, all in the same night!!

I saw Styx and REO Speedwagon at the old Pittsburgh Civic Arena. I'm going to age myself, but the best concert. I was so very lucky that my Daddy loved him and wanted to go to the concert, I was 8 years old. But I remember every last minute of the Elvis concert. My bubble was burst when it came over the speakers, announcing Elvis had left the building.

Shaw was waay underrated considering his massive talent. Glad decades later he finally got known to a new audience from " Supernatural" and TV shows( i.e.Ozark). Check out his first solo LP post-Styx, " Girls With Guns" had 2 hits off that in '85. Still touring with Styx.

I was listing to Styx's when I was 9 yo. When , I finally saw them in concert was 2017 with REO Speedwagon . It was at the old gone now Kahunaville in Wilmington, De. My home state Dennis DeYoung of course was no longer with them , But Tommy Shaw rocked them songs out. What an awesome concert.
Listen to amazing Maestro John Panozzo on those drums!!
This was their Mr. Roboto tour, my one and only Styx concert. I remember our seats were not close.
They don’t make music like this anymore.

in 2019 Pittsburgh Steelers were playing Chargers in L.A. and at end of third quarter someone paid the sound guy and he played Renegade.
Just saw these fine folks in a small venue. Their sound was crisp and they had so much energy! Not a farewell tour, I sure hope. What a great band!
Yes,sir I saw them inDenver this last year for the 13th time,Ive seen alot of shows but noone is better@@!
Saw them in Myrtle Beach SC a long time ago. After the concert they went to the front of the stage, sat down, and shook hands with everyone that wanted to.

Does anyone else see a resemblance between Tom Shaw and Tom Petty?

Yes
It's too bad they can't settle their differences with Dennis. They were a force together and incomplete apart.
Tommy Shaw and JY (James Young) usually traded off leads depending on who wrote the song. As I mentioned earlier, JY asked Tommy if he could play lead on this one. I know Tommy played lead on one of JY's songs but can't recall which one. My favorite Tommy Shaw song is "Crystal Ball", his first contribution to Styx. I think one of the best album was "Equinox", recorded right before Tommy Shaw joined the band. Give that album a listen sometime.

I didn't know this. I've always loved the songs I thought were all Tommy, but I could never stand that keyboard player. To me his voice was so shrill and whiny, not a fit with the rest at all. That's just me, though. Sort of like Hall and Oates, loved their voices, but hated their songs LOL
