I am 60 years old, have seen a lot of Austin City Limits, This is the best dam performance I have seen. A NEW sound.

I came to Sturgill Simpson after reading an interview with Merle Haggard,he was asked who he listens to these days,Expressing some disappointment in what Merle said passes for country music these days he said Sturgill Simpson.....He's the real deal.Thank you Merle and thank you Sturgill for keeping country real!!

@@andreichukanov4180.... Could you give me some examples of newer country acts who "dress up" ? I see more dressing down, (Big beards, t-shirts, jeans) but I'm not sure what bands you are talking about.. Look up some of those Country show from the 50s and 60s (especially the color broadcasts) Porter Wagner or Buck Owens Shows (But not Hee Haw) or Ernest Tubb's show are also good examples. I think it would be interesting for someone to bring back that visual aspect of country music performance.

Saw them in Chicago. House of blues in 2013. Laurs comes on stage with a tiny tube amp with a ten inch speaker. Miced it up and beat that guitar like it owed him money.

Every now and again I need to hear this song. Laur is an absolute genious!! This is by far my favorite version of this song.

I feel the same way about Stu and also about Billy Strings. I guess I like bluegrass AND outlaw country now. I'm a rock guitar player and dig heavy melodic rock music for the most part, but I have always liked great playing and songwriting but these guys are off the charts. Vocal harmonies, the playing, the storytelling in the songs....epic.

I miss this Sturgill :(

Same here man. I arrived due to being introduced to Billy Strings awhile ago. When I listen to this, or Billy, or even Tyler Childres, I think "Where the fuck have I been?"

Discovered Sturgill a couple of years ago on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert and have been a fan ever since. His music just grabs you and won't let go. Simply amazing.

It's so awesome to listen to the original from the Osborn brothers then listen to sturgill 's version. So f'n awesome dude!!

I have never wanted to be anywhere as much as I would have wanted to be at that show that night to see Sturgill Simpson that was one hell of a show. Tom Petty has always been my Top Shelf guy. But a little late to the game I have found Country Music and gone country crazy. I think T.P. Is going to need to slide over a little on that top shelf. I’m hooked. I asked my grandson what kind of music he listened to and he said country of course.I said why of course ( he is 17 ) he said Mimi I was born and raised in N.C. The love and need for this kind of music is in your gut, heart and soul. These new young guns that are coming to the forefront are great.

Fucking outstanding. Sounds better each time.

Can't wait to see him next month!!
