Taxi driver simply failed to notice the cyclist needing to use all of his lane. Cyclist failed to realise that the taxi driver would just carry on coming unnecessarily probably because he was busy counting his money instead of watching the road judging by the fistful he exits the car with. The cyclist's actions were easy to predict, why do you think the taxi driver failed to predict them? If I'd have been the cyclist I'd have stayed left behind the red car instead of moving right to allow cars to pass and then potentially block me and probably been honked at for the privilege.

"Entitled" Yep, the cyclist was entitled to stay in the left lane because of the occasional obstructions in the right lane that could (and did) cause issues with him needing room to negotiate them. But instead he kept returning to the right lane to allow traffic past, how considerate of him. What a shame the entitled taxi driver would rather be counting his money than paying attention to the road ahead and failed to simply give the cyclist the legally required amount of room past the obstruction. Look at how the brown car easily holds back and suffers no detriment as the cyclist passes the first obstruction. How come the taxi driver just didn't do the same?

When did you the biker swerve? All I see is a gradual move left. When did the cyclist go into the left lane. He moves to the far left of his owning lane. Taxi driver should never have been there, he ran the light at the start of the clip. And he shouldn't have been counting his money whilst driving. Parked car should never have been there as there are 'no parking' signs. Two motorists blatantly breaking road rules and the cyclist is the only one to get grief.

For instance in most countries the law says that motorists need to have a driving licence before using public roads. Does that law apply to cyclists where you live? I'm betting not. "He would have gotten a ticket" No he wouldn't have as using a phone whilst cycling is legal in Canada. For the record I live in the UK, so how did I find out that cyclists could legally use their phones in Canada? I Googled. If you don't know something I can really recommend it.

Damn right! You see enough videos of riders shouting at car drivers to use their mirrors. If we can't even get the bastards to do that, why do you expect them to look over their shoulder as well? Be better than they are. Make sure you're visible to the driver, either pull alongside or drop back into his mirror sight. Don't sit _exactly_ where you know he can't see you.

@@aaker256 it's called a blind spot for a reason, you're in the space that the driver can't see from the rear view mirror, side mirror or over their shoulder even if they look. That's before you get into complications of drivers with a genuine medical reason why it's harder for them to see you there, they may not have full body and neck mobility, they may be deaf, they may be both. There's no way to know these things so you need to ride accordingly. Drop back or speed up.

@@amonGustavo07 And right there in the video, the guy rode his bike on the sidewalk, was texting and driving, and wearing a head set while operating a vehicle on the road, all of which is illegal. Forcing a merge when his lane was blocked is also illegal, so the taxi driver did nothing wrong. You cannot force your way into another lane, the biker should have stopped and yielded instead of swerving close to the cab. The cab got close because the biker got close. The bicycle rider was wrong on every count, and had I been the cop who answered that call, once I saw that video the biker would have gotten at least 4 moving violations.

Not illegal in Ontario, but it is in Quebec. Nearly. 4. Forcing a merge. The cyclist doesn't leave his lane. What merge? "the taxi driver did nothing wrong" He ran a red light at the start of the clip, failing to give priority to the pedestrian or the traffic with the green light. He was driving distracted whilst counting his money and failed to give the cyclists the legally required 1m of space. And then there's the illegally parked car that triggered this whole thing in the first place. Why are people so blind to motorists breaking the law and yet so willing to make up laws in relation to cyclists? It's weird.

The cyclist was in the wrong. Cuz he's the one that changed into the taxis lane. Cyclist are the Karen's of the bike world 🤣

That's why you should ride defensively and don't ride in a vehicles blind spot in case the driver doesn't check! Never assume they have seen you!
