Gary passed on 5/25/2023. He was the REAL Cliff Booth, and one hell of a great guy. He will be missed...

Cliff Booth was a pastiche of lots of stuntmen, including Gary here, Gene LeBell, etc.

They filmed 'Linda &Abiline' in June 1969 at the Back Ranch house. You follow the creek behind George Spahns house about 1/8 mile. It was the best on the property. He fixed a dune buggy in the saloon, really tricked it out and had to take doors off to get it out.The horse paths were well worn then but poison oak and chaparral and snakes everywhere. Jack the Giant Killer who hung out bought some of Ruby and George prop guns he's selling on Firearmads.com under Spahns ranch guns . Another old guy is selling Johnny Schwartz's 22 Imp and his switchblade on Armslist Los Angeles. His Dad was the cop who backround the gun that Johnny kept in his 1959 Ford Victoria town sedan used in the murders. Check it out!

Charley was a very good mechanic. It was one of the skill courses given in prison that he mastered.

No, he wasn't a mechanic at all. I've read just about every book on Manson written and whenever you read about building the Dune buggies, stripping stolen vehicles or even getting the black school bus repaired it is never Charlie who does the work. Charles 'Tex' Watson was the mechanic.

@@markyboy214 He certainly did. I like the story where the cops find a stolen Toyota at Barker ranch and they remove parts from it so it can't be moved and go off to get a tow truck, Tex gets parts from other vehicles, fixes it and drives it away.

@Cleo Fierro Which book mentions about his mechanical knowledge?

I'm puzzled. Manson went to prison in 1969 and I googled 'Lash of lust' and it's dated 1972. Unless they filmed it 2 or 3 years earlier and released it in 72.

I'm guessing that it was probably finished well before '72, but was such a dud, it wasn't released until then. Low budget B grade movies usually have all types of legal and financial issues to complicate release as well. But heck, Apocalypse Now was filmed mostly in '77 but wasn't released until '79, and that was a great movie with a huge budget. Spahn Ranch burned down in 1970, so those parts shot there would have had to have been done before then of course.

@@Mainsail76 Thanks, I tried to find the film everywhere I could as I thought it would be good to see but as you said it was definitely a B movie and in an era before the home video cassette market existed, I imagine getting it released wouldn't be that simple.
