I find peace and rest when I am busy with the orchids even though it is laborious. 😍 Denise, hi 💐 aren't they just adorable?? This is my plan B collection in case I cannot afford the patio anymore and need to get rid of my top guns. I invested in the little ones for 'just in case'! I hope it never happens, I rebuke the fear of that happening, but to see them do so well, the colors now adding to all the white ones that have bloomed in the past, it really warms my heart 🥰 Imagine seeing these colors pop on the harsh terrain of the brazilien plateaus? Well, your Plan B is definitely already at Plan A level to me 👌. My orchids are now well watered and settled in the conservatory. They are just loving the warmth and light there 😄 and the collection seems happy, so I'm ecstatic! Hope you're having the best Sunday ever 🤗 💖.

Your polytunnel is like an Aladdin's Cave with sparkles of colors coming from different angles and corners. Great video Nina. We're thinking alike these days, I have targeted Laelia's this year. Don't have any but I'm going to fix that this year. When I find them I will not hesitate. Have to other genus on my target list. Gots to get more compact Catts, give lots away. One of my great joys of growing orchids is giving them away to unsuspecting recipients. The smile on their face when I give them a Catt in bloom is priceless. My late wife loved to share plants I will always do the same. So much fun, great job Orchid Master. Thank you

🌸🥷🏼Bob San 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼‍♀️🥰💐 hi!! Laelias!! LOVE the laelias and I am glad that you are also thinking to find more to add to your collection. They are elegant, usually highly fragrant, and there is such incredible beauty about their blooms, the symmetry of the 'triangle' as I call it, of the sepals... just amazing treasures of nature😍 giving away orchids in bloom, yes, I know what you mean! I won't do that at my end because I am not able to replace anything atm and want to make sure that what I have lives as shopping is not something in my budget. But, I can assure you that I have several I would love to just send to people, as they have outgrown me and with that space, I would like to have others in my collection. Our tastes and styles change as we get into more and more into the years of growing orchids, and with that, I am a firm believer that we should evolve with what we want to grow, expand our horizons. IF that means giving orchids in bloom away, making someone else happy... it is so rewarding! Someone is always there with you, 🌸🥷🏼Bob San!! Someone amazing, special and loving! Someone on eBay said not to put my plants in because there’s not enough nourishment in the rock. Mine seem to be doing okay and when I water them I give them nutrients and a flush so that be okay. Do you think help me? There are so many things about different things you use but lava rock seems happy with me but we were growing well at the moment. Haven’t had any problems still got the roots on the orchidsand some coming out these are growing should I just leave them for now? But how much nutrients should I give my phis? Help me please?

Please do not be put off by what that person said! While they are right, there is zero nourishment in the rock, that is not what it is supposed to do for the orchid. We are in charge to provide the nutrients, the rock is only there for the roots to find something to grow on to. You give them their nutrients when you water, just like you said, and they are doing well... so, please do not let anyone tell you that lava rock is not good for your orchids. How much did you give our orchids when they were still in bark? If you want to test if the same amount works for the lava rock they are in now, then don't change anything with your nutrient concentration. If you see a little salt build up, then increase your humidity so that your pots do not dry out so fast, or reduce the fertilizer levels just a little bit. And please, do not forget to flush your pots at least 1x/ month with fresh water only. If you can, and as things get warmer, a nice flush 2x / month ... they will love that! I hope this helps 🫶🏼

Aww, I wish you had recreated last year's display,, that was fun. But I understand the current limitations. Nice that these little guys perform for you, they are very pretty even if they are small and non-fragrant, they don't have to always be big and/or fragrant to charm us.

Don Miguel 🥰💐 hola jefe!! I was walking King the other day, looking for my stash of grasses because I wanted to recreate the scene and do a better job of it this time, but the lots where I went to get it 2 years ago, are now fenced off and they are going razored down to dust because of future construction. 😪 when that gets going, it is going to be noisy and really dusty on the patio because one is in front of the property and one is behind. So far, I cannot see any excavating, but having been fenced off with billboards, yeah... my grassy fields are history. There was one that had all the vegetation in tact, fenced off as well, but locked and you can imagine I was looking at the grass longingly 😆love that I could showcase the color variations now. And what amazing colors 🫣😅 thank you so much for watching, my friend! With every trip I brought back another box to complete the entire set. It was so beautiful 😍 I also remember that on my first trip into Hungary, arriving at the airport. I had a doll as a gift for the daughter of some friends we were visiting, and at customs, they took the doll apart looking for contraband 😪 I felt terrible and was very scared because, back then, it was not as open as it is now. I wanted the little girl to have a doll that did not come from her country because they all pretty much looked the same... anyway, I had to buy another one once we were in Budapest. And that beautiful coffee shop / library was one of my favorite places to visit. I remember not being able to hold a conversation with anyone while there, I just wanted to have my coffee and enjoy my surroundings! Beautiful.... just beautiful!! Oh, I stayed at the Hilton on the Pest side. And, here is the kicker, it was that early before the borders were really open, that it was a luxury to have the heat up high ... it was the hottest hotel I ever stayed in in my life, and I LOVE heat! That was off the charts though 😅 Anyway!! Thank you so much for bringing back those memories. LOVE the fact that you commented 🫶🏼❤️🌸

@@katiorchi7676 🥰 Check out the nursery 'Orchids and More', in Germany. Then also in Germany, Lucke Orchideen and Grossräschener Orchideen. Now, I have never had the opportunity to order from Orchids and More, but what I have heard from them is that their plants are small, not always fully rooted in because they arrive bareroot from Brazil, so that is normal, but their prices are the lowest of the 3 I mentioned and they have some that I do not have in my collection but I cannot afford any orchids atm, so all I can say is, they do have a nice selection and I hope that if you purchase from them, that you get some great quality plants. The other 2 nurseries have always sent me great plants. Please email me ninjaorchids@gmail.com so that I can send you a PDF of all the rupicolous Laelia names for you to get an orientation as to what to search for. Also, know that some are now found under the name Cattleya, but usually if you search Laelia xyz, you will find them, or just search the species name and see what comes up on the websites. My list, while comprehensive, is not complete. I may be missing some, but I do not know exactly which ones, because it is possible that some are so rare, they do not come on the market. 🫶🏼

Love this video! I’m growing several rupicolous laelias in a grow tent that maintains intermediate conditions (63-76 degrees f) and has very good airflow and high humidity. Any advice on rebooking these orchids? I’ve heard they prefer a dry, cooler winter and warmer and wetter summer? Would love any advice on how to best grow and rebloom these in the home! Thank you!!

Hi Bryan 😍💐 thank you so much for your time watching this video and your feedback! The cooler winter, if you can, you can drop the low temperature for the winter months to 55ºF and yes, keep them dry. Some rupicolous laelias can go even lower than that, for the winter temperature replication, but with 55ºF you are pretty safe across the board. The wetter summers, while true only apply if you water at dusk and let them absorb moisture and nutrients over night. I know, this sounds contradictory to what we know to be true for other orchids, but with rupicolous laelias, things are different. They live in a super dry habitat during the summer, and only draw moisture from dew. Spring and Fall, they do get some rain which can be simulated with watering during the daytime, but... in general, they prefer to be damp going into the night during the summer months.
