Stunning Nearly 200 year old Abandoned Winslow Plantation Down South in Georgia
Ойын-сауық
This place was built in the early 1800’s as a successful cotton, sweet potatoes and timber plantation. The outset of the civil war would bring soldiers marching right nearby in Sherman’s March to Sea. Somehow the house was saved and spared destruction during the war. After the civil war the house would remain empty for decades until a couple bought the house in the early 1900’s. After giving the house a restoration it would be lived in until the couples passing in the 1960’s. Afterwards it was used as a hunting lodge for a couple decades until once again in the early 2000’s a restoration was begun but this time the workers reported tools going missing and hearing strange sounds/ doors opening while working. Ultimately they ended up refusing too go back and work on the place. House did have a strange vibe. Big Thanks to the neighbor John who stopped by and gave me some history on the house! Thanks for watching! Like and leave a comment if you enjoyed! I appreciate it!

@@brettvogel8418 he's not at all click-baity. I have watched his videos for years & he is very respectful everywhere he explores & is a natural. He has enough followers on here to try click baiting for views. He's honest & down to earth. I love how he explores. I see so many urban explorers faking paranormal activity in abandoned homes just for views. Kappy is skeptical when it comes to the paranormal. Making a mistake on how old a house may be is understandable, but he does look into the history of homes.
Perhaps the house was protesting the awful decor imposed on it.

I've seen far worse decor. The kind of graffiti that vandals with little or very low intelligence spray painted in some abandoned houses is despicable.

I agree, different kind of desecration.
That’s when people took pride in craftsmanship. Beautiful 👍🏻
Today, besides showing some historical architectural gems, Kappy decides to include a paranormal investigation and a safari. I wish vandals had not destroyed so much of the architectural elements of the second house.

Those pegs in the attic timbers were made to last. What a beautiful old home. Minus the horrid pink and blue someone chose!
That first house looks like it was a cozy place once. Love the old tree out front. The second house is so airy for hot, Georgia days. I wish architects would take at least some ideas from these grand homes, instead of same old cookie cutter, cheaply built houses 3 feet apart that we have today. After woodlands are bulldozed out. Thanks, Kappy-hi, Ruby!

The first house, I mean. I'd love to be able to restore it as I live there. Seriously I need a project!
A friend and I stumbled upon this place back in 1968 in our travels in Georgia. There was a wonderful old lady that lived there, she showed us around, at that time the place was well taken care of and was so wonderful and full of old stuff. Sad to see it is such a state of disrepair.😮💨

What a shame. Unfortunately, I don’t think anyone’s gonna buy it. I willing to bet that painted waynes coating was probably a beautiful wood at one time. The two bedrooms were weird considering it’s a good size house. Thanks for going in even after the neighbor gave you the lowdown on it. 😄

I am so lucky that I don't believe in ghosts. The first house seemed fine, beautiful, and ready to be restored. The second one is beautiful also, but very creepy, with all of the brush around and inside. Is that the one that was deserted by the workers? I love it, I could see myself camping out in that one... And here I am at 0230 in the morning working at a hotel by myself with the tide coming up, breaking against the walls, and I'm not scared at all!! Thank you for the video!!
Given enough money both of these houses could be saved IMO. They are big, beautiful and airy.

I wish I had the money to refurbish this house. I love the layout and the property is beautiful. Would have to get rid of those funky colors though. Thanks Kappy.
The first house looks like it could be savable and move in ready pretty quick. It was built solidly and the roof hasn't failed. The 2nd one is in bad shape . Thanks for sharing and you have a great day
Good Morning. That first house had a quality, solid roof on it. The house shows no water damage or signs of leaks at all. Impressive. Hollow core doors and pink paint are 2 of my least favorite home improvement ideas, however. Love the porches on the second house. Kool looing place my friend....👍
Looks like the house The Waltons lived in.
I wish they could've finished it. It's still structurally sound; a big shame to let it rot.
We are in the process of remodeling our kitchen in our 2 storey brick home built in the mid 1800s. Don't get mad at me Kappy! Grandpa redid the kitchen in the 1970s and made the cupboards out of plywood and counter tops out of linoleum. Remodeling with white distressed cabinets to look old. We painted the walls the same blue as your video shows. Glad I picked out colors done in that era
In the first house the "closets" in that first room seem to be an addition during "remodeling". Looks like another addition to the second room next to the ffireplace. Bet it was fun trying to get furniture up that staircase. It's probably still standing because it has a metal roof. Only one fireplace upstairs. Kind of a strange layout.
Another awesome video Kappy 👍

Maryland is a beautiful state! Grew up right outside Baltimore! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
That first house looked like it began as a simple 2 over 2, with additions later. Honestly, for the description of being a successful plantation, it origins seemed small; it lacked the grandiose attitude characteristic of most plantation houses we're aware of today, although it was handsomely detailed throughout. Maybe that was why it 'survived' Sherman's March to the Sea? It certainly was a handsome lil' structure. Too bad its been negatively branded. It so deserves to be preserved but then it is not alone in that distinction. I'd love to know the other outbuildings it must have had, with the history that it boasts. The second house was a lovely memory of good times in the past. Thanks for the tour, Kappy.

#1 What a lovely old house. I agree the pink/blue paint was particularly a bad choice for this old girl. I did like the yellow color in it. I really think any happening such as the Civil War would result in some negative energy in these places. We're still fighting the discrimination of a people in our country. #2 I must say tho, I like the old brick look without a mantel. Uh, bats? Nope. This house is so roomy, I love the top floor landing.
It was well built…lots of possibilities. The first thing I would do is get rid of the Pepto Bismal pink. I like the upstairs bedroom most. The outside looks nice. Thank you Kappy.

Love the Staircase❤
Good evening, Kappy, my friend! Finally, we've got a really, truly haunted house and not just one that scared us all half silly! I'll never forget those strangely eerie footsteps upstairs in that house or the door that slowly closed by itself! So spooky! I gotta say, though, that neighbor's account may have just been of a thief trying to run the workers off or maybe the neighbor was just trying to run you off, Kappy! That is lovely woodwork! I wonder if it was done by a craftsman or by an enslaved person. It's lovely, no matter who did the work. It is quite unusual, not at all like woodwork we have seen in other houses of this period. The rooms seem to be rather small for a "plantation home." Must not have been a very large planter's operation. I'm agree my friend's comment below! That pepto bismol pink and neon blue paint job is positively criminal and would raise any proud homeowner/builder from the dead to protest! It's so strange, the foyer and the first room's paint scheme was so understated and elegant and then somebody went all Woodstock in the second room! Weird! At least it would seem that they ran out of that awful paint and settled on a better shade for this room. The lovely pale blue is both elegant and restful for what appears to be the house's dining room. The kitchen would have been bright and pretty, no doubt. This back hallway is an odd place for a washer and dryer hookup, but it works, I guess! The bath is certainly handy to all the downstairs, but rather straightforward in its design. The sloping roof of the back hallway confirms that it was once a porch. Up those creepy, narrow stairs. More small rooms and an attic from someone's nightmares. No bathroom up here, so somebody had to use a chamber pot or risk dying on those stairs! I can see how this house seems to be creepy. It does have an odd air about it, suspenseful, sort of. On to House Number Two. A link to the first video would be very much appreciated. I just couldn't find the first one, though I went six years back through your YT Archives. I would like to compare the two videos. Thanks! Kappy, dear, please do not shine your bright lights at sleeping bats, especially in the winter! Wintering bats use stored fat to stay warm and, if they are awakened and flutter about, they use up precious fat and could even harm themselves in their panic. If a wintering bat runs out of fat because he is made to fly, he will starve before spring arrives, bringing food. Please, when you find a bat, dim your lights and leave the area quietly, as even the sound of your voice could frighten him and cause him to take flight. The bat may be cute, but don't be the reason it starves to death! Thanks for these two explores! The comparison between them is startling, with the first being so modest and the second so expansive and open. They were both beautiful and very interesting, though. Happy trails to you and safe explorations, too! I'm looking foreward to some Tennessee explorations in the coming months. Until we meet again, love to you from Tennessee and to Miss Ruby. Please give her my best wishes.

It's sure is nice to see these houses before they're gone. But wouldn't it have been nice to see them in their heyday.
The second house must have been lived in during the late 1980s or early 1990s. I recognize the wallpaper patterns and hunter green was THE color at the time. As for house #1, the tools going missing is easy to explain because it happens on job sites a lot if workers aren't careful. Tools are portable, easy to hide, and easy to sell, so theft. No ghosties I'm afraid
Awsome love your two for ones
