Stunning Grade 1+ Scramble up the Eastern Terrace of Cloggy in Snowdonia

Join me as I go for an epic excursion up the Eastern Terrace of Cloggy (Clogwyn Du'r Arddu) which is an unforgettable grade 1+ route only a short distance from the ever-popular Llanberis Path.
I also put the drone up and got some epic footage so you can see what this scramble is like.

Ahhh never knew of this route having said that, out of choice, I’ve never trekked up the Llanberis path either. Looks a cracking Grade 1+, borderline G2. Awesome video as always Daniel. I took a few from work up Bristly ridge on Monday in heavy rain and just about managed it. Atmospheric but a little more tricky when the rocks are drenched. Keep up the great videos 🤙🏻

I love Bristly Ridge, have taken a few friends up there and while they enjoyed, I doubt they would have done it on their own! Defo a few steep and slippery bits.

Looks like a fantastic amphoshere and of course all the history of the cliff.

It looks extra special at sunrise or just after; nice soft light. I'll be back to do the other terrace when (if) we get a period of dry weather.

Likewise, it looks a little harder but the description grading seems to mean it is considerably harder?

Western Terrace? Much harder, lots of loose rock and a steep section, It's rarely scrambled but I'll film myself up there when the weather permits. I'd like to film every route in Steve Ashton's guidebook for my KZread channel, maybe missing a couple of the really iffy ones.@@jamesbowler3339

Superb as always. I am looking to do this next year if weather permits. I have read the initial section before turning on to the slabs is pretty sketchy and more G2. Is does look quite exposed on your vid. What’s your view on the first part? I’m taking a friend who is relatively new to scrambling and don’t want to over stretch him.

I tried this route a few days prior but bailed out as it was too wet and slippery. I made it up to the slabs but they were soaked so I made my way back down. I found the lower section sketchy in the wet but okay when dry. Extra care is needed on the grassy section just before the slab but I went up and down in the wet without issue. If I was taking a friend up there, I'd want it bone dry.

Noted. 👍 Thanks for the response. It looks like a decent scramble so definitely on my list. Just out of curiosity, are you familiar with a route up on to Craig Cwm Silyn (Nantlle Ridge) via a route I’ve only ever heard called The Great Stone Chute? Looks like a short but interesting route but there is little to no information out there about it.

Finally got to drive up the A5 in clear weather last week to see your stomping grounds. Absolutely stunning scenery. Just a shame that I had a ferry to catch!

It's lovely up there. I camped on the side of Pen Yr Ole Wen last week and actually got a good night sleep for once. Pure bliss.
