not sure ours are exactly the same species, ours definitely get bigger, be it the gulf, northern or southern.

I was fishing with my brother in the tinny and he pulled up the biggest whiting I’ve ever seen it would’ve gone 40 or 42 easy is he didn’t drop it next to the boat 😖😂
