In this video I take a very common dish down here on the Mississippi Coast, and take it over the top with a delicious shrimp & crab bisque reduction, that is a seriously delicious recipe! I baked the stuffed crabs on my Grill, but can easily be done in any oven, and normally is.

Sure makes me miss my Mississippi gulf coast! Earlier while busy preparing breakfast I was listening and half watching while wondering which of our smoke detectors might have a low battery. Thankfully I came back to this and sat down to finish, giving it my full attention, because our ADT wireless system and all is a fairly regular occurring source of stress...but I digress. What a labor of love that was!

ah Blue Crabs, Rus! You brought back a childhood memory on Mobile Bay off County Road 1 when I was about 6-7 years old; Dad was emptying crab traps off the wharf (baited with chicken necks and backs) into a #10 metal washtub; one of those blue crabs got out of his tongs, freaked out and ran across the deck and nicked one of my big toes! Lost my flip flop doing back down the wharf to Momma and the cup of peroxide over my foot! To this day, I enjoy blue crab claws only after they are fried and I know they are "safe"! My brothers and I picked many a blue crab back in the 60s. Great cook, my friend!!

+MJ Trainor You made me laugh big time! That was funny! I remember a big huge crab getting a hold of my dads finger, and he wasn't about to let go. I think my dad had to take a pair of pliers and break his claw to get him off. I can honestly say, I've never been pinched by one yet, but I'm sure I will eventually. Great fun and memories, and good eats ;) Thanks MJ, I appreciate you watching!

Looks really delicious. Up here in Ontario, Canada, we don't have fresh crabs. (Turtles and pollywogs, but no crabs :-) So we go to the local Loblaws store and buy a couple of kilos of frozen King Crab legs. Take them home and boil them in a big pot of water. Score the shells lengthwise with an Exacto knife. Sear them on the BBQ until a nice, smoky flavour. Then serve with melted garlic butter and a nice, cold Molson Canadian for the cook. Cheers from Canada :-)

I learn something new every time I watch your videos or see you cook in person! I have noticed that these are rare at eating places these days... I used to see these everywhere back in the day!!!! The blue crabs are abundant right now in Corpus...That shrimp head sauce is the bomb !!!!! OMG the scene of you pouring the sauce on the stuffed crabs made my mouth water!!!! I request this next year at JB's... Just the sauce fir dipping crawfish tails in!!!! WOW... This is my new Favorite video you have made!!!! Peace my Brother!!! See you later tell the wife and grand daughter hello!!!

+Cookin with Surfin Sapo Yeah, everything has changed over the years. If you order a seafood platter around here, some places still do the stuffed crabs, some do a crab cake, and the best restaurants will put a deep fried soft shell crab on the platter! YUM! This would make killer dipping sauce for shrimp, crawfish, or even poured on fish. Remind me next year, and I'll make some in advance to take with us :) Thanks Sapo, I sure appreciate it!

Most of my life I tried stuffed crabs at numerous restaurants and not a one was very good. Back in the fifties my father would commercial fish and often brought home lots of blue crabs. Mom would clean them and stuff the shells then deep fry. It was unbelievable how good it was. I asked her several times before she passed away for her recipe and she simply said it was crab meat, salt, pepper, cracker crumbs, onions, celery, garlic and what no other recipe calls for. A small amount of hamburger or pork sausage. Nothing else has ever come close. It was sweet, dense, and most importantly not bready as most stuffed crabs are.

I have to admit I am a Maryland crab snob but your recipe looks very yummy! Most of the time I see stuffed crab with too much bread and not enough crab seasoning. Your recipe looks very good. 👍👍👍👍👍

Rus, those crabs are just beyond words. That is some work but well worth it. You are right, that sauce takes them over the top. Well done. Enjoyed. :)

Man, I know those had to be good Rus. The crab meat from a seafood boil is so much tastier than the fresh or frozen crab meat you buy from the store. Stuffed crab is one of my favorites, so I really enjoyed this video. Hope you have a wonderful week!!! Cheers brother!

I totally agree, and it don't get any fresher than this Troy! It was all I could do to calm my son down when he first took a bite lol, and needless to say, they didn't last long. I did manage to get two for myself lol. Glad you enjoyed the video Troy, and you and Karen have a great week too! Thanks for watching :) Cheers!

What's up Rus! This meal looked fantastic and I always enjoy your videos as you really take the time and provide a thorough explanation of your cook. I know that was a ton of work getting that meat out of the crabs, but I'm sure in the end it was well worth it. Keep up these great videos brother. Take care!

+Matt Covington Thanks Matt! Yes a ton of work, but the kind of work I enjoy. I think the Gumbo video I did December of 2014 was the most labor intensive video I've ever done, but your so right about it being worth the effort at the end. Cheers brother!

remember as a boy they used to tell us dead man fingers were poison, till this day if I get one in my mouth I worry. using that crab boil water was a great idea, that cream sauce looks like it took it over the edge, no doubt this was a great dish

Now I know what it feels like to be truly blown away! We can get blue crab at a number of the Asian markets around here, but I really don't trust 'em much... Who knows where they're from... They're farmed, I'm sure. I'd much rather have fresh caught from the Gulf. Excellent video, Rus. I posted it on Face book!

+SmokeyGoodness Thanks so much Dan! Yeah, I agree with you. Getting any seafood from it's natural habitat has to be much better than farmed. I know the shrimp is for sure! Thanks so much for sharing it :)

Hi Rus. We already watched and drooled over these crabs last night...so today I was ready for round 2 of drooling. It was cool to see how you got the meat out of them. That sauce you made just got to taste so heavenly good...in my head I was already making seafood bisque out of it...last night when I had the whiskey in my glass heh heh. Yeps this dish you made should be something I should be eating for sure ! ! Thank you for sharing. :)

+Paivi Project Thanks for watching it twice Paivi! That is awesome and glad you liked it! The sauce actually is a bisque, but I reduced it down more to thicken it up to use as a sauce. Would be great as a bisque right out of a bowl, with french bread on the side.
