@52:25 The difference between Gordon and Jon Taffer is that Gordon actually wants the restaurants to succeed, Jon does not. Jon's company comes in on that show and they offer the restaurant a contract saying "Your restaurant needs to make X amount of profit in X amount of time in order for you to keep all the upgrades we did. If you're unable to do this then you have to give US the RIGHTS TO YOUR RESTAURANT". They then do shitty little upgrades that often fall apart within months of them shooting the episode (chipping paint, booths breaking, shoddy equipment that shits out on them, etc etc) in order to get the restaurant to fail. Jon then sells the restaurant to one of his restauranteur friends for an extreme mark up and laughs all the way to the bank. Jon Taffer is a scam artist who really doesn't know much about restaurants or even how to cook, he is preying on vulnerable restaurant owners who just want to succeed and pulls the rug out from under them in order to make himself a profit when he sells their restaurant. This is highly documented and people within the food industry RARELY have nice things to say about him because of his predatory business model. The only people who actually like him are his friends who buy the restaurants from him. I was a chef for 17 years and have dealt with Jon personally, he's a horrible human being.
