Pretty normal to see this happen. Rookie takes an edible and doesn’t feel anything an hour in and takes 2-3 more doses and it all comes rushing in at once. I always recommend beginners to start small. Even if one cookie doesn’t do anything for you, wait till another day and take two. Don’t take multiple doses on the same day. I’ve had edibles that kick in in 30-45 minutes and some as late as 3 hours. Personally I’ve never had a bad trip with an edible. When I was 17 I was new to smoking and my cousin went to the dispensary and got me some pre rolls. I went home and didn’t know how much of it to smoke. I kept smoking and smoke the majority of a whole pre roll being an absolute beginner. It was super scary how high I was and I thought I was going to die. Most important thing about any drug is the dosage .

I feel bad all the time (physically- anxiety, nausea, headaches, neuropathy [numbness in my fingers and feet that always have "pins and needles"]..... I hadcbeen taking klonopin for 8 years but my Dr wanted me to get off of it. I've been off for a year and have just felt crappy all the time). What's your advice for an edible to just help me feel happy and better without getting "stoned" and tired. I was thinking pinapple express...what are your thoughts??? P.S. my tolerance for weed is??? I know my tolerance for other drugs like pain killers and other things are pretty high. I'm a bug guy 6'2" 230. What would you recommend??? Thanks

You hit the nail on the head in the last 30 seconds: the people who ended up in the hospitals were uneducated and had more than they knew how to handle. Nearly everyone knows by now that smoking or ingesting more weed than you can handle may cause nausea, vomiting, paranoia, etc. depending on the person and the dosage. It's not that the weed is hurting people, it's the people not doing their research and knowing about the product (or being with someone who knows about the product) when using it.

Because of what happened I started to go for walks, I started to ride my bike again and I’m starting to get in touch with yoga, nature, and helping myself in anyway I can. BUT it does take time to get there because even if I see beauty in the world right now, with everything I had gone through, nothing was beautiful. So it might take you some time and medication like I needed. Now, to answer your question it’s been about a year going and I feel like it’s starting to go away right now because the seasons are changing and I’m socializing again. I'm not going to lie, when I was new to marijuana, It was around the time it was first legalized in Ontario so I got a bunch of soft gels. I didn't know that it took an hour or 2 for it to kick it since when I smoked it, it took less than 10 minutes so I thought edibles were the same. so I took at least 5 10mg THC soft gels. I might have taken more but I forget. Later I thought I was having a heart attack and I called 911. I was having a panic attack and thought I was going to die. It was probably the scariest event that happened in my life. After that, I missed used how THC oil works, and the same thing happened again. After those 2 events, I started taking them as they should be taken and I have not gotten a panic attack since. I think a lot of newbs to weed have experienced something similar to what happened to me. It was my fault for not doing the research and I think a lot of other people made the same mistake when they were newbs. From what I searched online, a fatal overdose on weed is extremely unlikely but you should do your research still if you don't want to be in hell for 6-12 hours.

First time in my life taking edibles last night or any weed/drug at all. I took a whole gummy bear and later when it kicked in, I was sooooooooo scared! I freaked out and thought I might die! My heart was racing so fast and exhausted at the same time. Mouth so dry I thought I would die of dry mouth, or heart failure or seizure and bite off my tongue. I felt hard to breathe and could not keep balance. And shaking, trembling and rocking back and forth I thought I was going to have a seizure! Out of great terror I called 911 and started knocking hard on doors of all my neighborhood on that floor cuz I was scared to die alone without help or people knowing. It was midnight and I was knocking so hard on each door while talking to 911 at the same time, I felt like I couldn’t talk straight either, was scared of not being able to talk anymore while on the phone. Sure enough my neighbors probably thought there’s some killer out in the hall way with a girl banging on doors so late at night like that. none of them opened their door. Until finally, a very young couple or sister/brother opened their door and helped me and calmed me. Later when the ambulance came the girl walked me downstairs. But apparently the paramedics didn’t think it was a big deal, I felt like they even found me laughable… cuz I was soooo scared of death. They kept telling me I wasn’t going to die and I wasn’t having a seizure. After I sat in the hospital for like 2 hours it’s still not my turn yet to see the doc. I started to feel the effect wearing off on me. So they let me go home.

Another thing I notice about edibles is that the high can accumulate over a day or two…if you’re taking them several days in a row, you can still be high the next day, and you won’t have to take as much to get as high as you were yesterday because you’re already high and just adding to it…It doesn’t really work that way with smoking it because the high is so much quicker, you would need to smoke MORE than you did yesterday to get the same high.

I ate just one Hometown hero brand gummy and it was the worst thing I've done in my entire life I had a severe psychotic break. Hallucinations, illusions, psychoses, escrizophenia. My heart was beating out of control and I almost had a heart attack. I was totally disconnected from reality and even wanted to commit suicide. I couldn't reason. Fortunately I managed to remember that I had eaten this gummy minutes before and managed to let my husband know. I spent the entire day having breaks from flare-ups that only stopped at the end of the day. The next day I had several episodes of panic attacks and now I'm afraid that this drug will leave any sequel on my mind. I want to share my bad experience and I think the effects of THC should be explained more on the packaging. I practically almost died. This all happened on January 19th and today January 24th, 5 days later I still feel the effects of this drug in my body and I don't know what to do. I ate just one gummy and it was my first time with that. This almost take my life. I'm going to see a doctor this week to see if this drug has done any harm to my heart or mind. I am really very worried. Please! stay away from edible THC

I recently had a bad trip. My THc tolerance had gotten to the point I was eating four at a time to feel anything, so I watched a video of how to reset your tolerance level. It worked like a charm. Problem was after the reset, I know longer needed as much to get high, so I ate 2 of my strongest gummies. At first I felt good but then I think I had a anxiety attack. The most terrifying thing I ever experienced by far. It felt as if I had no control over my thoughts and I was trying to convince myself to commit suicide. It literally felt as my confident secure mind was at war with my angst ridden insecure side of myself... that I didn't know I had. I was CONVINCED that I had snapped and would have to go to a psych ward. I kept standing up to do something but didn't know what to do so I would sit back down. I finally convinced myself to lay down and try to sleep it off. It was a valuable lesson. Now when I read about someone committing suicide it hits different. How many of them went through that and didn't make it? Very eye opening experience. Never taking more than one at a time again.

If you ever find yourself in this situation, no matter how difficult it is, find a comfortable place, lie down, take deep breathes and try to go to sleep. You'll be good as new tomorrow.

I took 10 mg of live resin “accidentally” - some one pretty much gave it to me not disclosing it was an eddible. I am a 38 year old female 5’6” 110 lbs. I experienced a trip that at the time felt like the worst experience for my family and I because it lasted 30 hours but retrospectively, it entirely changed my life. I understood time, manifestation, and I’m now trying to figure out if others had similar experiences. It felt more like what someone explained to me as a mushroom high.

Kind of worries me. I haven't smoked pot in 25 years. But want to try edibles. Don't like being stoned. Just like a light high. One hit kind of person. So I better start with 1/4 of an edible and see how that feels. I found some edibles that are at 20 MG. I have no ideal about how to dose that. Im old school. Anyone have advise?

I take full spectrum edible cannabis oil most nights and have had my share of “too much” incidents from carelessness. Especially for someone newer I’d suggest assume that the MG count listed is higher than what it is. Better safe than sorry, start SUPER small at first. Much better to take too little and feel nothing than to take too much and have a bad time. And never eat edibles on an empty stomach or dehydrated. Expect to feel stoned for much longer than you would smoking some pot. Just make sure you take it slow especially if you don’t want to get that baked. Like 5mg if you can cut it into even pieces.

For you, I'd highly recommend taking 5mg of a hybrid edible, you'll feel a slight head high and also feel a bit energized. You're definitely not going to feel a couch lock high, unless you take 10mg of an indica gummy. This is from personal experience. I don't smoke anymore like I used to but I still enjoy taking edibles from time to time. It's all about starting off slow, remember you can always eat more but you can never eat less so start with a low dose and be patient and see how your body reacts.

When I first tried edibles I got a bag of ten pieces of chocolates, 100 mg total, 10 mg’s a piece, the sales guy said, take 2 and if you don’t feel anything in 30 minutes take one more. I was so high I couldn’t do anything and got sick, wish I went back and told him he was an idiot, if you eat a whole bag, omg you will get very very sick. I weigh 135 lbs and I’ve since learned that one and a half pieces is just right for me, sure it takes a little time to feel it, about 30 minutes, but when you do it’s gradual and just right. Take one before you go to a bar and all you’ll need is one beer all night to feel great. Perfect combo.

ER? With cannabis? I can understand people going to the ER because of alcohol. Just start small, don't redose, and, if you do take too much, remain calm and sleep it off, you'll be fine.

@@ericajackson8775 First of all, sorry to hear that you're going through this. However, it is highly unlikely that edibles could be the cause. What you're describing does happen sometimes i.e. THC induced anxiety but only while it is still in your system. It is biologically impossible for THC to stay for more than 3 days in your body. In very very rare cases in people who are already on the edge with anxiety issues, psychosis episode can worsen the situation. Please ask your HCP for a psychological evaluation on DSM-5.

@Erica Jackson do not listen to these people that tell you it wasn't the edibles that caused your symptoms because that's not true. The same thing happened to me. I accidentally ate 70mgs of edible gummies. I had never smoked marijuana or ate edibles. I thought i was going to die! I felt like I was having a heart attack! The edibles also induced Cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome in my body. I couldn't hold food down for months. I lost so much weight. I started having panic attacks, anxiety, acid reflux, brain fog, visual disturbances, vomiting and severe nausea. I also felt things were not real and I developed tinnitus in my ears. The ERs were blowing me off. I found a private doctor that told me that ERs need to start paying attention to THC overdoses because everyone reacts differently. She put me on a bland diet, gave me over the counter anxiety meds and told me to take magnesium citrate every other day to poop out the THC because it sticks to the fat in your body. I was testing positive for THC for 4 months! This happened to me on August 19, 2021 and I am still healing. I feel like I'm 95% back to myself. I don't have anxiety or panic attacks anymore. I only have tinnitus still lingering in my ears at a very low pitch. Good luck to you! You will heal with time. ❤️

Important Note: Anyone who uses edible THC should ALWAYS have peppercorns on hand; they are a great antidote for a THC overdose. Just eat a few peppercorns and it will bring you down almost immediately. This will save the victim from a few very uncomfortable hours of anxiety and paranoia. You're welcome.
