Once you have that first panic attack from Cannabis it's hard to stop it happening again and again the next few times you get high. Thinking about that first panic attack next time you get high will trigger another attack. Then next time you want to get high your previous 2 panic attacks will be on your mind and.....You see where this is going. I smoked Cannabis heavily for 5 years with no problems. Then out of nowhere one night it caused me to have that first anxiety/panic attack. Really bad chest pains and one of my arms had shooting pains through it. Basically anxiety/panic disguised as the signs of a heart attack. Ever since then I can't get high without getting these "heart attack" symptoms. I thought I was the only one until I read through these comments! In the end I decided to just quit weed altogether. I tried edibles to see if that would change anything but it didn't. Same chest pains and same panic attack. Sucks because I used to enjoy being high! Certain music and TV/KZread just hits different when you're high 😔 and obviously food. If anyone does end up having an attack try looking up some breathing techniques on KZread. Helped me last time I got high. Other things I've heard that work are chewing peppercorns, utilizing lemons + their peel or using CBD to counter the THC and help balance you out when you are overly high. Stay safe and remember you're not going to die! You're just high. It will pass and be over soon. Drink some water, take some slow, deep breaths and try to relax. And stop watching videos like this when you're high 🤣 Watching videos about anxiety and panic attacks sounds like a good way to trigger it 🙄 go watch some breathing techniques and listen to some Gunna or D Block Europe! That stuff be hitting different when you're as high as you are 🤣 ✌

This video/comment section have been so helpful. It’s nice knowing that I’m not alone. I’ve had 3 panic attacks due to marijuana use. I had been smoking for a year or so with no issue and then after a large hit, I had an awful panic attack. I tried two times after because I used to really enjoy smoking, but both times I had more panic attacks. I have been struggling with anxiety ever since. I feel that I disassociate or lose focus a lot. I sometimes even feel like my brain is broken because of my marijuana use, but it is completely irrational. For me marijuana just doesn’t make me happy, it does the complete opposite for some reason now, it started doing that after I did LSD and MDMA for my first time a few days apart, then I smoked so much weed and ate 3 edibles because I was used to that and I thought I was going crazy, I was freaking out because my mom was about to come home and I was thinking about crazy shit like how I’m trapped in my body and the only way out was to die and what if when you die, your reborned so it just never ends and I was freaking out thinking what if I had some disability like Down syndrome or autism my whole life and my parents were hiding it from me or what if I was an MK Ultra victim or creepy shit like that, luckily when it started going down a few hours later and then when I started feeling normal again, I started to feel really emotional like I was a different person than I was a few minutes ago and I felt like I felt bad for the person o just was because they were just feeling so much pain when they were freaking out even though I was the same person and then I kept feeling like I was going to cry and I started to feel kind of like how weed used to be like I felt that warm tingly feeling a little bit but then everytime I smoked weed after that, it still seems really creepy and I don’t feel happy at all. I just keep telling myself that stuff isn’t as creepy and scary as it seems and I’ll be back to normal soon, hopefully marijuana goes back to normal for me soon because I miss smoking weed so much and I have so much weed that my friend gave me, it used to be where I had no weed and I just wanted to smoke weed so badly, I couldn’t get weed for 6 months once and now that I have like 15 grams and a bunch of edibles and stuff, I can’t do any of it

I promise guys it’s all in your mind your mind is the most powerful thing in your body ,it is the lamp of your body , you have to protect at all cost bc that’s where life flows from .. I went through a panic attack from smoking weed back in February, it is a scary experience but as I would hit the blunt often I use to post February I can really feel my anxiety coming down from having another panic attack .. when you overthink it eats you up my best advice is don’t think about it .. distract yourself, do something you like , it’s not real & it can help you in ways that you don’t even know .. but I’m back to smoking weed not as much but I can smoke comfortably again .. bc I went through the experience of panic it may sound crazy but I’m kinda glad I went through it bc it help me .. just remember it’s all in the mind your not going crazy , hope you feel better , I’m just being real! Love.

there is one way but you may not want to do it. If you take Xanax or Klonopin 20 mins before weed you will enjoy like the old days again. But be careful you don’t want to have your weed addiction back with a Xanax addiction too on top of it, if you can’t keep it to once and a while then you have to let it go.

It also was after mushrooms for me too, whether that had anything to do with it ill never know for sure. Now the only way I could enjoy weed is I have to have a Xanax or two klonopins right before it, so needless to say it’s rare I do it now cause of this. Maybe like theee times a year I’ve done this the last couple years. It’s the only cure to enjoy I’ve found but must be careful don’t need a benzo addiction but luckily it’s rare I can even get them anyways,

Consistent smoker for 13 years here. No anxiety, and never experienced panic attacks until about 2 months ago. Had 6 panic attacks back-to-back and ended up in the ER with elevated heart rate, high blood pressure, intrusive thoughts, sense of impending doom, could not stop thinking about mom and dad passing away. It even felt like I was dying, and felt the effects for about a week after I stopped smoking. Almost like psychosis. I started exercising and walking 2 miles a day. I haven't smoked since that last attack but feel excellent now. I miss cannabis every second of every day. It is so strange to see how many folks have dealt with the exact same scenario. I'm going to try again after I have put some time and mileage in between the last attack someday. Could be years though. Best of luck to everyone. It's all in our head.

Hey man, I was in the same boat. Try again slowly. I started with Delta 8, the Indica version, which is supposed to calm you down. You can increase gradually until you reach the point that you want to be at. Also, Google and research "stop paranoia using black pepper". Take a few of those with you in the car or whatever, so that if you have any panic attacks outside, you can take them right away. Good luck and enjoy.

Usually a puff or 2 then put it out, wait an hour and do the same with no panic whatsoever. The first few times I attempted, I felt the panicky feeling just a little bit but was able to combat it. Nothing like those first few episodes. I have re-introduced it in to my life and have a brand new relationship with cannabis. I have black pepper on hand just in case! I appreciate the reply. I just had a bad trip from smoking pot last night. I'm not a big consumer of it, my fiancé is though. But when I have smoked it, I usually like the indica, and trying different strains. Well I went into a dispensary yesterday and wanted to get the best, most relaxed indica there was. I got a cartridge refill for my pen. Later in the evening I took little hits here and there, and then I took a bigger hit. I had some dinner, then after I dinner, I had an Altoid. Now this might sound weird, but I swear right after I had the Altoid, within 5 min, I started having that weird feeling. I'm not sure if the Altoid enhanced the affects of the pot, or if it was just the pot itself, but I freaked. I felt like I was having a medical emergency. I was feeling tingly all over and almost numb, including my face. It was a freaky feeling. I thought "Am I having a stroke?" I jumped up threw my shoes on, my fiancé is like "What's wrong?" He started to get up, and I ran outside, and went to the neighbors she was already outside, and I said "I feel like I can't breathe!" She had me sit down on her porch with her and she looked at me, "She said you look fine," and I said "I don't know what's wrong with me." But then I told her I smoked some pot, then she said "Ahhh." She sat and visited with me for awhile until I calmed down. It was embarrassing, but now I know I just got some strong pot. Lol. I don't think I'll be smoking pot again. Lol.

I remember when this first happened to me like it was yesterday. I had recently went from smoking everyday to not smoking at all for about 4 months. The very first bowl back I knew something was way off. I couldn’t focus, my mind was racing and like many of you, my heart rate was sky high. About 30 mins in and I was convinced I had smoked pcp laced bud and was probably going to die. I was shaking so bad my teeth where chattering. This lasted all night. Ruined smoking for me forever, which was the only substance I used regularly and enjoyed. For the next 6 months I thought I had a heart problem and went to the cardiologist to have EKGs and an Echocardiogram, at 18 years old. The doc probably thought I was insane. Long story short, this experience f***** me up for a while. 7 years later and I still can’t enjoy smoking, but this really changed my perspective on what anxiety is and had a big part to play on my decision to study psychology. Good to know that I’m not alone.

I’m an addict who’s been using opioids, benzos, alcohol, meth, etc on and off for nearly a decade and it all started with me moving from weed to harder stuff, for many reasons, but one of the biggest was because I couldn’t handle weed anymore. I had a terrible trip on a research chem and ever since that I felt like I was having a horrific panic attack/Heart attack just about EVERY time I smoked. I don’t smoke for the most part anymore, but I tried picking up a vape pen a few months ago and giving that a try, and I still got that anxious, chest pain, fast heart rate feeling. I’ve been sober but struggling immensely with anxiety these past few months and idkk if I’ll ever smoke again, but if I do I feel so much better just knowing that there are so many people with this same issue. This is where my panic attacks started i remember smoking a massive bong then all of a sudden my heart started racing, i had tunnel vision, everything immediately became delayed i felt helpless and completely out of control. I just kept touching my face because it felt so laggy like id touch my face then id feel it like seconds later. I just jumped out my window and went for a long ass walk in my socks to try sober up. I never done weed again i was literally saying ill never do this again. The last 2 other times i had another panic attack was at a restaurant after drinking and at work under stressful workload. Now i suffer from anxiety and i have this fear of getting panic attacks anytime, my biggest fear is I’m afraid to lick my lips constantly because i remember whenever i had my first attack the delay in feeling my lips when i licked or bit them was freaking me out cause i couldn’t feel it my mind was so delayed. Every time i looked around it was all delayed i had no control over my senses whatsoever.

I felt the exact same way. I’ve read a lot of articles and videos on why I had a panic attack, and no one was talking about how everything was delayed. When I’d pick up my cup I would feel it a second later. And when I was trying to sleep it off, when I’d move my head against the bed i felt it seconds later. It scared me so bad, I had no control and I felt like it was going to last forever like I was in hell, which made the panic attack worse. The delay of everything I see and feel of not being in control was the worst part. I’m glad I know someone else went through it.

this is gonna sound fucked and a lot of people would consider it depression but the best way to relieve yourself of anxiety is to truly not give a fuck. our biggest fear when we feel anxiety is a panic attack. when we have a panic attack we fear death. really spend time with yourself and try to come to terms with the fact that death occurs to everyone and not to be scared. once you no longer fear death then your panic attacks/ anxiety will lessen. i was diagnosed with panic disorder. went to a therapist and took the meds they told me to take and the meds made me worst off. i ended up getting depressed, paranoid, showed symptoms of borderline personality disorder, adhd, ocd just about everything. i really thought i would have to be institutionalized. panic attacks constantly. so i tried to come to terms with the fact that we’re all gonna die. like i said it sounds depressing but i’m not sad. i’m happy. i feel like i’m living life without anything holding me back.

I had my first panic attack a month and a half ago. I was given Prednisone for a sore throat. Now I know that the sore throat was likely allergies along with being anxious about the state of the world but the Prednisone, even at a low dose, made me absolutely and horribly insane. So little sleep. I had two courses and the first day of the second course I landed in the ER after an eight hour panic attack. I had NO idea that's what it was. I left with a prescription for Celexa, which I quit after three days, and Ativan tablets, which are now in the middle of a chunk of concrete. Prednisone messed up my cortisol. Like I said, I was mildly anxious before. I was okay with that. I didn't fight it before. I knew what it was. Now I'm carrying anxiety on the daily with all kinds of physical symptoms and I know that the way out is the same as if I had panic without the Prednisone. Daily letting the panic ride the wave so I can gradually come to pre-Prednisone levels. I sure am learning a lot about myself in this process. Like how far back the mild anxiety goes. And, as an artist, just how creative my brain gets about the thoughts!

I had my first panic attack induced by pot first in 1984. It struck again in 86 and 88. It then started everyday without smoking it and screwed my life for many years thereafter. No one even knew about panic disorder. No doctor at an ER, no one. So I felt as if I had some dreaded disease. It wasn’t until the early 90s that I tried Prozac that I found real relief. I also started doing things I was most afraid of, standing in line, driving at night, over long bridges and flying. No of that was easy. But once I broke the cycle, life became almost normal. SSIs really do help. But so does behavior therapy. Although I drive for a living today, I still take Prozac. The only thing to worry about is to not drink alcohol while taking it as boosts the effects of drinking by a lot. Don’t do it.

After reading shaans book it made me realize that it’s normal that I’m going through anxiety and that I just keep tripping myself out. My mindset changed COMPLETELY. I wouldn’t say that marijuana caused my anxiety, but my stress. I couldn’t even smell weed without it making me trigger my anxiety but after accepting my anxiety I was able to be around weed smoke and after a tolerance break of a month I will give it another go because I am confident, trigger or not, my triggers will not dictate what I want to do and they will not make my decisions. It’s the fear of another anxiety attack that’s holding you back from going back to whatever you did. Whether it’s smoking, going to the grocery store, DO NOT LET YOUR ANXIETY STOP YOU FROM YOUR ACTIONS. do what you want and do it with confidence. It won’t be easy but you WILL overcome your triggers and you WILL get back to your old self. Last night I got rid of my melatonin. Yeah sure my anxiety creeped up on me, but I accepted it and I didn’t get up from bed and started my breathing exercise. I let it be and it went away FAST and I was able to sleep without melatonin. I did GREAT. I’m going to ditch my l-theanine pills now because I’m actually implementing the 5 steps shaun provides for you in his FREE book. Go read it if you havent :) good luck to everyone much love. You WILL overcome this if you truly have faith you will :)

Thus I cannot be myself and I has to live in this constant state of imprisonment, this imprisonment feels like constant stress & anxiety & the loop goes on until people go away or I don't hear their voices,

But I’m not and I feel like my body is floating or leaving my body and I haven’t smoked in forever and I still feel like it! All the time like at work everything!

i smoked almost everyday for about 6 years totally fine. but in college i started getting super baked and then stressing about homework. my brain started associating feeling high with stress and i started getting anxiety when i got high. happened like 3 times in a row, i was getting heart palpitations and this feeling of impending doom. i quit for about a year and i feel great. i gradually started again but only like 3-4 soft hits and only when im doing something fun like having a cook out or fishing

This literally happened to me yesterday I ate too much from a brownie and it hit after 30 minutes and at first it was fun but once it hit fully I was so scared I heard voices but like scary whispers and laughing it was 1 in the morning and I heard cars outside but there were no cars and I closed my eyes and my heart was literally beating out of my chest so I repeated the phrase "i am calm it's all in my head" until my heart was finally back to normal but then i started feeling dizzy like I was going to throw up and I avoided it as much as possible because I hate it so I just held my hand on my heart and slowly brought it down to my stomach and it really calmed me down I ended up falling asleep at 3 in the morning and woke up a little high so I went back to sleep for about 3 hours and felt so drowsy throughout the whole day and I still feel tired the last bad trip was off smoking but it went away in a couple hours but this was the worst trip by far hopefully it doesn't continue with smoking

I first smoked when I was in seventh grade. I would smoke with my older brother and his friends. I handled it really good. It was super fun. Sometimes I felt relaxed and sometimes everything was so funny. My senior year of high school, which was last year, I smoked 3 times. The first time was during school and I had a pretty good time. My friends made fun of me cuz of how stoned I looked lol. The next time was with my friends and the one after that was with my girlfriend. Those two times were the worst times of my life. The good thing was that they were both during the night so I forced myself to sleep to get rid of the effect. I haven't smoked since. My heart was pumping so fast and I was overthinking my whole life and everything. It was scary. I think this was caused by a change in my personality over the years. When I was in middle school, I was confident and I was the guy to make the whole class laugh and stuff. But as I got older and throughout high school, I was known as the quiet and shy dude. I developed some really bad social anxiety that affects me a lot. I wouldn't be able to tell this to someone face to face. I would just freeze. I've only told this to my girlfriend. And as I struggle, I try to fix it but idk how.

I hate this man I've smoked for years man YEARS a year ago I tried switching to concentrate Because it's cheaper believe it or not. Since like a month ago I started having "comeups" kind of related to lsd. Anytime that I take a hit I automatically start to believe that I'm not real and that I have to fight for my life to stay on this plane of existence. I had to have my girl and her mom talk me down all night the other night, having them tell me things like man you're real get out of your head, but no matter what I did I felt as if I was about to be blinked out of existence with this constant state of existential dread constantly hovering over me. I thought I was going to die, and my only coping method was saying to myself well if I die I die. Not the best coping method when you already feel like you're heading for a fate worse than death

Best tip, if your having a serious life crisis, don't smoke weed, it doesn't help at all, it will make you overthink until you are having an anxiety attack, its hard if you are a regular smoker, its hard to sleep when you stop, so your left there at 1am thinking about your problem, and wanting to smoke......but don't, it wont help.

The worst thing is, panicking and then realizing, youre not getting out of it for a loong time. I had that experience, over time, I did get over it. I am a little apprehensive about smoking again. But I feel Im a little stronger for it. What happened was, I smoked some, then I thought, screw it, smoked again. Anticipating pressure from your hands to your head before you even touch it, is a trip. But having that sensation 10 fold is almost nightmarish.

The accuracy of this video is unbelievable. I'll tell my story maybe Someone can relate. I smoked weed for approximately for 3 years from 2013-2016 16 to 19 years old. At first everything was fine and all laughs, but then weed started to affect me differently when I horribly failed at my first year at the university. Then I noticed I felt unconfortable with just one hit. I was overthinking, super self conscious, I thought I had a deeper understanding of the society or the world. Social situations Also started to feel weird. I felt I was judged most of the time and I found myself judging others by mere simple and innofensive comments they might have made. This thoughts and feelings were scaring me since It was the first time I was experiencing them. Then camE the first panic attack. I had a big hit on one very "concentrated" joint. My Heart started Racing, I was shaking, completely pale, dizzy and with nausea., couldnt stand still but neither move. My vision became dark and blurry and negative thoughts of going crazy and losing control of my mind started racing. I Also felt "laggy" in my movements and responses. I managed to walk back home scared and in a hurry. Next week I felt okay but I was worried that the drug could have changed my brain forever and I was curious about what really happened so If started googling. As soon as i read a few articles about weed and brain chemistry I started having my second panic attack and as I didnt know It was a panic attack I was convinced I became terminally insane. Like how am I experiencing similar symptoms if I didnt smoke at all? Then came the anxiety cycle. I struggled with anxiety for half an year, then It simply started to Fade away. Nowadays I am not scared of reading articles about weed and the brain but im definitely still scared of weed itself, even after 5 years. I know I cant smoke It again having this unconscious fear, I know that as soon as I feel the high It might trigger the panic attack. What I still have to a minor degree is the fear of becoming psychotic or schizophrenic (that was my fear back then aswell) but now I know its just anxiety. Things do get better, is just a Matter of understanding yourself ✌️

I heard that smelling the vapors of black pepper makes an attack go away fast. I even Googled it and it said the same thing. I had two ounces of a lot of different strains. And my attack hit me so hard that I got rid of all of it. It was helping with my inflammation but wasn't worth the panic. If you never had a panic attack then you have no clue what is waiting for you.

I’ve been smoking since I was 14 years old I’m 32 now. The last few months I would get very light headed and dizzy but it would go as fast as it came. When I say I smoke I mean I smoke Flower and Wax been a heavy smokers for years. I came home from work yesterday and smoked a blunt with my brother in law and started getting that anxious feeling and started getting light headed again but this time was different felt like my heart was going to explode out of my chest I started shaking uncontrollably shortness of breath honestly I thought I was having a heart attack. I am currently under a lot of stress and also battle with depression that’s another reason why I do smoke. Last night was a whole different Animal my Wife rushed me to the ER and as soon as I came in they were like oh your having a anxiety/panic attack and it all made sense to me in that one moment the gave me Lorazepam to calm me down which it most definitely did I still feel woozy. I don’t want to quit smoking marijuana what should I do guys?

Since then I've had several more panic attacks and just overall high anxiety and some depersonalization. Just got on Lexapro a few days ago. Ideally I'd like to tackle this with therapy and wean off of the lex, we'll have to see. Shit sux

When I smoke weed I think of negative things at a very fast pace. Mostly it’s negative things about what’s going on around me or what I’m doing that very moment. It has always ended with me going to sleep so this feeling would go away. I have ADHD and I’m on the autism spectrum so I’m sure that has to be part of it.
