    Hey Kathea! I won’t make a video about the application purely because the process was so specific to my home university in New Zealand (the application was done through our local exchange programme office) and I don’t think it would be helpful globally. Happy to take up any other recommendations for video content though ☺️

    Hi! I was wondering what the general campus culture was like. Are people nice? Is it hard making friends? Also, how do you budget your money and how much would I realistically expect to spend? I'm planning on applying to Lyon 3 so this would be very helpful!

    ema malik to be honest, as an exchange student at this university you are more likely to make friends with other exchange student rather than local French students. If your level of French is good I’m sure the French are friendly ! In terms of budgeting I worked and saved in advance. Lyon can be quite an affordable city to live in. The cost of basic amenities and food is reasonable but accommodation is expensive so you will want to make sure your budget accounts for this! Good luck, bonne chance 🇫🇷 🍀

    im going in september 2020! im a law student in canada so exciteddd how does the school examine you? is it essay format? or exams with like short answer/hypotheticals/multiple choice questions?

  • @LegallyBlondeAbroad

    Hi! First of all, congratulations for being accepted to go on exchange to Lyon. You will have an incredible experience. The law courses are structured so that you generally have one mid term, one assignment (either an essay or presentation) and then a final exam. The structure of exams varied from course to course. For example, one course had short answer questions whereas another course had multiple choice question formats.

    hey how does the deuf program compare to the self program in terms of level of difficulty and quality of education? i know ur in the self program but have u met people in the deuf program? what have been their views/ thoughts on the program and the level of education it provides? did their french imrpove greatly?

  • @LegallyBlondeAbroad

    @LegallyBlondeAbroad

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hey Monique, my friends in DEUF really enjoyed the programme because it really tested and improved their French language proficiency. Those friends who I knew in DEUF, were mainly law students, and they did find the difficulty considerably harder, because they were juggling a workload with legal jargon in a foreign language. They had to put in much more study time for finals, comparatively to SELF students. I arrived in Lyon with reasonable fluency, however I opted for the SELF programme to have more leisure time for my study abroad, and I could still improve my French in the compulsory courses they offer. They have an advanced level French class for students like this doing the SELF programme, which they will test on your arrival to Lyon 3. Hope this helps? Feel free to reach out and ask more questions through my Instagram or Facebook page!

    Hey there ! The university was very different to university in New Zealand, not really a collegial place. It’s hard to meet locals, you end up becoming friends with the other exchange students in your classes. The majority of classes are in classrooms rather than lecture halls which was different. But I wouldn’t change a thing! That’s what makes exchange so interesting and fun.

    When you first moved to Lyon did you already speak French, and how important would you say knowing the language?

  • @LegallyBlondeAbroad

    @LegallyBlondeAbroad

    4 жыл бұрын

    Paula Divić yes, when I moved to Lyon I already spoke French. I think it is important to know some very basic phrases for getting by shopping, asking for directions etc. But most of my friends (who were on exchange from English speaking countries) didn’t know any French and got by. And the exchange programme makes it compulsory to take beginner French courses - so this will be useful for people to get a foundation.

    Legally Blonde Abroad also one more question, I can’t seem to find literature programmes in France except in Paris, but Paris is far too expensive for me. Why is that?

  • @LegallyBlondeAbroad

    @LegallyBlondeAbroad

    4 жыл бұрын

    Paula Divić I’m afraid I can’t tell you exactly why Paris is more expensive. Being the capital city and the largest city means it carries all the hefty prices of metropolitan living
