I stumbled upon your videos and just adore them. I esp love your little speech about not growing up an artist. I felt like you were talking to me. I discovered my passion for jewelry and silver smithing later in life. I have met some artists and it is so exciting, only to find out that they love chatting about themselves and how amazing they are. Thankfully, I have also met a ton of great people who are generous and loving and want to share ideas about their craft. So I am a fan. Well done!

+Scott Grivois Hi Scott, sometimes we discover a creative side later than others, that was me as well! Its a mix of good and bad people in any profession so we look for the good and keep moving when we find the bad :) Glad you like the videos thanks for watching! xo

I totally get the conversation about artists and pretentious attitudes. Spent a few years at college doing art and met a few! There's a memory that sticks in my head from high school. A classmate of mine sitting next to me in class, and he was asked me some question about what music I liked or something like that. Whatever I answered (I dont remember really what the conversation was about) his response was "oh I don't like them because they're so popular now and I dont want to be so typical and like them now that everyone does"..something along those lines of wanting to be "different" and he was acting all pretentious about it and looking down on me for likin old school Green Day...and all I remember thinking was: if you choose what you like based off of what others like, whether choosing TO like them or NOT to like them, you're still following the influence of the crowd, just in the opposite direction. You're still basing what you like or dont like on other people. To me, being original is liking what you like because YOU like it, regardless of the "crowd". Feel me? Anyway! just a thought haha. Love your vlogs as usual and that they include more than the jewelry (as awesome as it is to see you working) because its fun getting to know ya!

Did you know that only Long Islanders go "food shopping"? The rest of the country goes "grocery shopping". Thanks for the wonderful vlogs! I've learned so much to supplement the classes I'm taking at the local rock & gem club!

HI, adding a bit of info for anyone if they want to see other pearl cups as well, Michelle is awesome in her demos and pearl cups are a good contemporary look for rings especially- and SHE is the queen of rings, for sure!!. There is another great jewelry teaching person on KZread I highly recommend, Soham Harrison's channel (200+ videos and he teaches at university)- lots of pearls and silver stuff and PEARL CUPS! I just discovered Michelle- she's one very hard working artiste! LOVE her! Great vlogs, so interesting and down to earth.

I was watching this video this AM and I think this is the one where you talk about making a split mandrel by sawing a slit in an otherwise used up mandrel tool. Excellent!! I took a 2" 6D (six-penny) bright finishing nail and with my jeweler's saw cut off the pointed tip and then cut about a 3/4" slit down the nail from what would be the striking end. Perfecto!! Works like a charm as the saying goes. Thanks so much for your continuing money saving and effective tips!!

You were cracking me up when you were talking about pretentious artists. I know exactly the type. I wanted to share what a card my son gave me said. "Why try to fit in when you were born to stand out" I'm about to open a shop on etsy. Scared to death. For now I buy jewelry at the thrift stores, take them apart & make one of a kind stuff. I can't believe how fast you make yours!

Loved this vlog! I would totally love to see how you make pearl cups. Pearls are so classic. Also, I totally know what you mean with pretentiousness. I studied business and only run my jewellery business for about 2 years now and when people call me artist, I still say that I am just a jewellery maker as I feel more down to earth with that title, lol. xx

+Tammy rollingu Would love to get around to making that video. Hopefully I can soon, I have bins that I store everything ready to ship in. Broken down by Necklace, Rings, etc. Then each has a code and number in my computer so I can pull inventory and ship. I may have gone over that in a vlog or two. I will try and touch on that again!
