    Love how Marshall is listening to their audience and making smaller amps. Very few people would ever need a 100 watt amp, let alone a 50 watter. It's great seeing these 20 watts beasts that you can scale down to 5

    Damn it Marshall!!! Stop taking all of my money HaHa. "Had" the entire studio series but, now I need this one. Great work guys. You've been absolutely delivering the goods with the Studio series. I love my old '73 hand wired JMP 1959, '71 hand wired JMP 1987, '77 & '79 JMP 2204"s Master Lead II, Silver Jubilee 2555 but, MAN these Studio amps just keep delivering and do exactly what I wish their bigger brethren could do in many lower volume settings!!! One could say you can't replace the big boys but I'd argue and say you can with these and still know you're not sacrificing just getting a different tool that fits particular applications even better. Cheers Marshall, your doing great things!

    To my ears there’s always been something magical about the JTM sound. On clean, they’re one of the best sounding Marshall amplifiers ever made. Probably because of their direct lineage from the Fender amps. Cranked up they also sound amazing. Not like a Plexi, which sounds great but are heavy in the midranges. To my ears, a cranked JTM has a more scooped sound but is warm and full sounding with that Marshall punch.

    This is cool and all, but Marshall is way overdue to replace the JVM as the flagship. As an owner of a 410H, there's so many upgrades it needs. Improved clean channel, noise gate, more transparent FX loop, real spring reverb (not that digital shite), cabinet IRs, etc. Also, bring back the Vintage Modern!!

  • @sumtingwong63186

    @@sumtingwong63186 my JVM has an XLR output with cabinet emulation. But it’s from 10+ years ago, which means it’s absolutely awful. I’m not saying they need 127 digital cabinets, I’m saying they need from 1 to 4, either analogue like Palmer, or IR like Mesa’s Cab Clone that now comes stock in the Mark 7. The original Cab Clone was a pile of shit, but the current version is usable. Marshall could come up with their own DI system, emulating the different 1960s, with T75, Greenback, or Vintage speakers. They’ve already made IRs for Two Notes, it’s just a matter of integrating them into a new amp.

    Can I stack this head on top of a sc20 head or will that block the vent and cause the sc20 to overheat?

  • @marshallamps

    @marshallamps

    Hi, it would depend on the air flow and cooling - if both amps are running warm/hot, we wouldn't recommend it. The vents need enough cool air flow and stacking them might restrict this.

    Lots of guys stack heads, and i havent heard of anyone having any issues. The best way is to run it on its own, check how hot it gets, and then stack it and see if it runs hotter. I would think its will be fine, though.

    It's valve, not solid state & it's PCB construction. Marshall say the pots & valve bases are hand wired - but that's hand wired to PCBs.

    @@dane4453 🤷‍♂️😄 that's not a very engaging response but I'll bite. If I'm saving $1800 for an amplifier, only giving me a 20 watt practice amp isn't much. My drummer is gonna bury that thing. I can get a Friedman Runt50 for the same price. I can get a Fender 59 Bassman Reissue for that price. It's not about not having the means or willingness to save up for a British made Marshall as an American consumer. I have a Wizard cab. I'm willing to pay for quality imported gear. It's that Marshall has priced themselves out of the American market. You can't even find any of the studio series amps to try out at my local Guitar Center, they don't carry what they can't sell. It's like three Origins and a DSL in there. Either embrace that and flood the American market with more Vietnam made Marshalls or break this weird third party distribution for America nonsense.

    Sounds killer. I love you Marshall, but Dave Friedman woke up this morning probably chuckling at the price you're trying to get for this in the USA. I don't know what kind of crappy distribution deal you all have in the United States, but I hope this new ownership will one day address this. I'd bet these at $1500 would sell like crazy here. While I'm on the subject, have you all looked at some of your US Service Centers? Half of them are questionable people's houses who clearly have minimal knowledge of your amplifiers. Love your amps. Love the spirit. Love the Company. Hate the neglect in the United States. I realize tons of US companies have to charge extra in the UK for their products. I think most reasonable consumers also realize that Marshall has expense getting this over the pond, but almost double is insanity.

    I expect appropriate exchange rates and small mark ups for foreign amps would be reasonable to all consumers. But often due to the massive/competitive market in the US, $ pricing can sometimes match £ making it cheaper to buy in the US. So this new ST20 pricing in the US is very strange. Many of the Friedman amps aren’t so bad in the UK. SmallBox in UK £3000 and $3000 state side. It’s when the £ price goes above the $ number that it feels like UK import/retail is taking the piss.
