I believe that most dresscodes are sexist. Throughout middle school I went to a school with highschoolers and one day we had a day with no uniforms. The teachers dresscoded girls for wearing shirts with too short sleeves that werent even tank tops. Meanwhile a 10th grade highschool guy wore spaghetti straps and they said nothing.

You cannot claim your dress code doesn’t discriminate against any gender when the rules themselves are discriminatory against girls at their core.

all these comments defending the dress code y’all are probably old. ripped jeans and crop tops are the style now. like they are young adults I don’t see the problem with wearing tank top or ripped jeans. the whole point is being missed everyone should feel comfortable wearing their clothes that they like where ever they go but because guys can’t keep it in their pants the girls are told no. also I went here everyone complained about the dress code. glad these students are taking charge and changing things.

Sadly this is not entirely true. As a student who with a uniform, we get dress coded for our uniform skirts, we are forced to wear tights, and so on. We get reprimanded for all these things, meanwhile boys have barely any restrictions at all. I practically have never seen a guy be dress-coded, yet it happens to girls multiple times on the daily.

A rather naive conclusion; how do you explain heterosexual female teachers enforcing dress codes? I fit two of your three descriptors, male and teacher, and enforce dress code violations with my male students as well.

Bro what's indecent about shoulder and knees? I've seen guys in my school walk around with they're shirts mostly unbuttoned and pants mostly pulled down but they don't get dress coded. I wear a tank top that shows too much shoulder or ripped jeans that show a small portion of my thigh and I get told it's distracting to teacher's and students.

some american schools do have uniforms but that wont stop young girls from getting harrassed and sexualized. youre missing the whole point, girls shouldnt be taught to cover up, boys need to be taught how to not treat women like objects and how to respect them. also school uniforms are extremely sexualized now so it wont help with anything.
