Students Flip Out When Coach Surprises Them Upon Return From Afghanistan
High school history teacher Drew Olson was deployed to Afghanistan, but his students at Northridge High School in Layton, Utah, didn't forget him. While he was gone, they sent care packages and birthday cards to the 32-year-old teacher and football and basketball coach. So when Olson found out he was coming home early, he decided to give them the surprise of a lifetime. "I don't even know how to describe that moment that took place in my classroom, it's something very special that I will never forget and always hold tight to me," Olson told InsideEdition.com. #InsideEdition

Teachers don’t know how much they can affect a student for the rest of their lives. I’m just happy this coach did it right
Why did I tear up/ lol This is what happens when teachers don't abuse their power and respect their students. I remember when my principal was retiring. We all loved her so much so the whole school was crying, We kept a huge ceremony for her, payed for a fancy dinner, a cruise and lots of presents. We even gave her roses. 36 for every year she spent with the school. She still comes to look for us

This is why society needs good strong men. That kind of love and loyalty can't be bought. That tells you some of those kids view him as a father figure. And what a wonderful role model for young boys to look up to, basketball/football coach, history teacher, AND a soldier.
Damn I wanna be in his class. He must be a good teacher
This is why educators need a better pay, they make a difference in young people.
This is an example when teaching goes right, everybody loves you.
this teacher is definitely loved and you can tell! He must mean a lot to those students! I applaud him! My dad is a basketball coach and he has made an impact for sure on the kids he coaches! I plan on going into the Army so Thank YOU for your service!!!

The kid jumping over the desk, the one running across the entire classroom and the one who wrapped his legs around the teacher and clung on 😭 I love this video so much.
Damn they almost made him fall, such a powerful moment for a teacher.
Loool they reaction was priceless those kids will NEVER forget him the cool teachers ALWAYS get the most respect because they genuinely care about the students
Put everything he's accomplished aside, and, you can tell he's a great man. Kids don't get excited to see teachers like this who haven't left an impression on them. God bless them all
He’s the kind of teacher that the students will always remember and tell their kids about 🥺♥️
A good teacher/coach and student relationship is always warm and delightful to see.
History teacher, soldier, football coach, and a basketball coach Total package.
I wish more teachers had a relationship like this.
Their reactions were so cute. Must be the best coach ever
When you show "love and respect", that is what you will get in return, " love and respect."
You know your a good teacher when the kids hug you when you return
This is too wholesome.
This is the best welcoming you could ever receive.

you can really see how much an effect that teachers have on students
When you win the respect and love of a teenager, you know you have done something right. ♡ I'm glad these kids have had a role model him.
Shieeeeetttttt, my friends don't even say "hi " in the morning
When multiple students run up to you being a teacher, you know can die easily knowing you have done something good in life
He's got a gift and a caring heart . Like a second dad. Maybe only dad for some of them.
An amazing teacher and amazing students, more respect
you know the kids rly well when they react like❤️ that especially the one that climbed over the table😂😂
For a teacher to do all that and be so loved by these students says something. Gotta be the greatest teacher ever.
Sir. your making a difference in those young people's lives. God bless!!!

I love how they just jump over the tables and just pile onto him. They must love this dude.
You know you're a great teacher and coach if you've that reaction from your students/athletes ❤

He's not just a coach to these kids....hes also a father ☝ 👑
This happens only to teachers and coaches with highly outstanding moral fibre.
You know that's a damn good coach from the reactions of his team.
To have that kind of reception upon your return shows that he has instilled in them moments that will last long after they graduate.
Awe thats so sweet and amazing one for his service but also that he has made that much of an impact on his players/students.
This truly gave me chills and made me tear up, especially as a fellow soldier.
