    This is a very good question! The Parfait International Apartments were still available (the most popular option). The main reason I chose this room is because you are allowed to stay there with two people. Therefore, I was able to register my boyfriend in my room when he arrived in China last week :) He's staying for 2 months, so that is quite a long time to stay in a hotel. This weeks vlog will feature him for the first time on this channel ;)

    Hu Jiaming For Chinese students,as i knew,only 9000rmb containing rate of electric and water needed to afford their rent for one year. Apparently,you are not able to have enough private space. Getting 4 roommates is in general.You will get a bed above the desk and share balcony, living room and restroom with your fellows.

So the room you rent is not only for xjtlu student but also available for other university students and tourist? As you said your boyfriend can also stay. It is need extra charge for your boyfriend or not? If yes how much? Internet is not included in your room, so we have to buy our own router and how to rent the internet? Thank you

What exactly did he do over here and what kind of visa did he have? I've just started my masters at XJTLU, but my girlfriend is still back home. We're trying to find something for her here and I was hoping that your experiences might help us or that you might have an idea we haven't thought off. Would really mean a lot!

    Hi Isabelle, great videos. I was living in Suzhou for 18 years before I moved to US. I would like to hear your comments on the differences between Suzhou and the counterpart cities in UK. In other words, Suzhou VS second tier cities in UK. As far as I know London is of cause the No.1 city in UK, with Birmingham the second and Manchester the third. The 2017 GDP of London city is £605.5B, Birmingham is £94.6B and Manchester is £73.1B, whilst the 2017 GDP of Suzhou is £207.8B, which means that Suzhou could be ranked as the second largest city if it was in UK and doubles the GDP of Birmingham. So my question is, do you feel the huge GDP difference reflected in your living experiences in Suzhou, in fields such as city infrastructure & services, business prosperity, life amenities, food & entertainment options, landscape & skyline, etc. Do you really feel that you are living in a "big city" as it could be ranked second in UK? Thank you!

    This is a very interesting question Seraph! Unfortunately, I am not able to answer it since I am not familiar with the UK. I have never lived there, nor do I study there. I am actually from the Netherlands and was living there before I moved to Suzhou :)

  • @parishmagnificent5206

    @parishmagnificent5206

    Not really. The definition of city is quite different between PRC and UK when it comes to GDP. It is the case that Suzhou is always regarded as a Shire instead of Suzhou city. Please make a distinction between State New York and City New York since you have moved to US.

    As a Suzhou native, I will recommend you to live off campus, as most students do in US and UK. You can find a local agent and he will find you a studio that matches your needs. Of cause the cost could be higher, $400 to $500 monthly rent, which is still very acceptable, comparing to western living costs.

    when you have a private room and a private bathroom, on campus is better since you can go home between classes. I lived both on and off campus in US I knew all the pros and cons.

    6 жыл бұрын

    Hello Patrick! Thank you for your comment. I apologise for the delayed answer. There currently are not any student accommodations that allow you to live alone and have a kitchen. Therefore, you would have to find something off campus. However, I would recommend you getting the student accommodation when you come. The minimum stay is one month. This will then give you one month to look for something different through local agents as Seraph suggested.

    Ah right, yea that seems like the best option. Although after searching online, I have found a few websites that seem to advertise another option called 'Scholars Garden', which has a kitchen etc. The websites could just be outdated, I don't know. Have you heard anything about this? These are 2 of the websites that advertise it: school.cucas.edu.cn/Xi-an-Jiaotong-Liverpool-University-12/accommodation/ www.sicas.cn/School/251/1529.shtml

    Hi! So I should be staying Parfait International Apartment in a few months. Do you know if each of the rooms have their own balcony? Also, I will be attending GIST. Do you know anyone from there? And also, can persons that live in Parfait International Apartment as well stay overnight in someone else's apartment?

  • @IsabelleMuzerie

    @IsabelleMuzerie

    6 жыл бұрын

    Hello! It depends on what you mean by "balcony". Each room does have their own space to hang up your laundry (just like my room). And it looks a lot like a balcony but it is enclosed. On either side of the hallway there are balconies though! So you can bring a chair there and enjoy sitting outside with a view :) I don't know anyone from GIST, sorry. With regards to your last question, there is not really enough space to have someone stay over in the Parfait International Apartment. Besides that, whenever you are staying somewhere else than your own room/house this should be registered with the police in China. However, if you are talking about people staying over that live in the building themselves too, it shouldn't be a problem. Though I wouldn't know why you wouldn't just go back to your own room... Hope this helps!
