Just a little advice…. You might want to put a weighted bag over the cable when pulling. If the cable should snap or the hook or pin come loose the cable will come flying right back and “slap you in the face”. That could be a real ouch…. Other than that… that’s a neat winch!

Yes, i thought what happens if that cable snaps, the glass door might not stop it.

That is good advice. But how many toe trucks have you seen use the bag? How many heavy recovery trucks have you seen use a bag? All these offroad winch outs that use a bag or say that before you start winching you need a big. That's full of crap. I used to operate a toe truck and as long as you know what you’re doing and your gear is maintained properly. The cable should not break. And if it does it does. As long as your not in the triangle or with in the band of the cable your fine. And that skidsteer has plexiglass windshield it isn't glass. Yes it could go through it. But not like glass.. On the safety side of things. He needs to put on a safety cage. So when the cable or anything let's go. The operator is safe. The bag is thing is over rated.

Make yourself a note: At least 6 inch snatch block will keep from kinking your cable. A hard pull with a small block will wind up your cable like a coil spring.

Hank when your winching you need to keep your unit on hard pack ground! You need to if in question double your line from the start. Also on a winch out like this one its better to stay back and above your unit to be pulled out so you get lift and break that suction of mud from it. As for your control box you need to mount it higher and place a guard around it. because if it gets broke your outa the game with no winch!! Otherwise you did a great job of retrieving the dozer! But Great job of keeping your head about the winch out!!

Just to let you know a good thing to get for your new tow strap and tow ropes go to the fire department and ask them if they have old two inch fire hose after you get the fire hose cut it into two feet long and put it over your tow strap and tow rope so when you huck up to something you put the fire hose in the area that could cut into your tow strap or rope but that fire hose will protect your heavy duty straps and pulling ropes the good ones are not cheap and you don't want them to be destroyed or damage

And then if the guy were my friend, as soon as I pulled his machine out, he would have said thanks and then tried to drive through it again.

It's not the cable that's the problem, it's whatever heavy metal that is attached at the end of the cable. Raw cable alone is harmless, and will hit plenty of stuff before going through the glass. It's far more likely a shackle, quick-link, chain, or weld-on d-ring on what he's pulling will break loose, and slingshot into the bobcat. Bare cable isn't really the failure point or the danger. It's why so many offroaders die, they hook up a snatch strap to a ball hitch, which isn't meant for shock loads and breaks loose, and the snatch strap is a giant slingshot and shoots the ball or shackle into the recovering vehicle killing the driver.

@@dogsarebest7107have you ever seen a steel cable break? I have, and they go a long way, fast. They don't go straight either. The one that I watched break was on a flat bed car hauler. The guy operating the winch was standing by the side of the flat bed and got hit in the nose by the end of the cable. He hollared, bent down, and covered his face. He was in a lot of pain. When he finally let us look at his face he had one little blood spot where one of the strands of cable stuck in the end of his nose. He was blessed by God because as fast as that cable was going it could've taken his head off. The hook end with a short piece of cable attached went about 30 feet and hit the tongue of the trailer really hard. It all sounded like a gunshot. That's why they say to lay something on a cable in case it breaks. God bless you!
