In Texas, ranchers use donkeys to protect their herds from predators like coyotes, cougars, foxes, badgers, wolverines and even from snakes. Yours should be great for protecting your livestock - especially during lambing. Good luck!

Never would have guessed your next animals would be donkeys! They are adorable stubborn animals. I can tell you’re fond of then. I hope you can get a buggy for them or some job they can do so they’ll feel useful. It’s gonna be fun watching you learn about them. The kids are gonna love them too. I have 2 donkeys (jenny's) with my sheep. We have a mountain lion in our area which has already taken 5 sheep off me. I had the donkeys separate from the sheep for awhile as I was worried about the lambs but after the lion situation, they are all together and the girls look after the babies. Donkeys don't need much feed, they are really resourceful plus so much fun. Mine get into the trash, eat cardboard, plywood, weeds, trees and they love take away food. Um, do NOT recommend ear twist. Mine have roam on my 5 acres year round. Haven't had their feet done in the 6 years I've had them.
