I think part of the reason they still sound great, besides the blessing of God on they're lives is they haven't destroyed their minds and talent with drugs and alcohol. Thank you Lord for a Christian Band that really rocks. I remember them in the 80's. I'm 64.

@@steely666 Thats so dumb. So, if God wanted us to rely on faith having no proof, which the bible says, wouldnt he allow innocent people to die? I know this is getting big and deep, but if innocent wives never died, innocent children never died, couldn't one make a strong argument for the existence of a higher power? Answer that.

Yes they are blessed. So are we all. BTW: these guys were coke head party animals back in the day.....just thought you'd want to know....nice guys, dont get me wrong, they were like the rest, party, booze, drugs, women....just preaching Gods word in a rock anthem way, which is good. Better than writing songs about suicide or creating violence...

@@zexedearth89 Actually, that’s not quite accurate. They did use some prerecorded background vocal tracks in some of their early years - the “In God We Trust” tour comes to mind - but Michael’s lead vocals were always live. I believe that they pretty much stopped using the prerecorded background vocal tracks around the time of their “Against the Law” tour. Yes, they continue to use keyboard backing tracks for a few staples (such as “Honestly” and “Sing-Along Song”) and there is a brief guitar sample that they use in “The Way,” but that is pretty much it - and these are all instrumental tracks/sample, nothing related to the vocals. In recent years, Michael has been much more strategic about which high notes to sing live - he has to, otherwise he wouldn’t have any voice left by the end of the show. Also, don’t overlook Oz’s vocals. In certain songs he sounds incredibly similar to Michael. In 2018, when they did “Always There For You,” Oz took the “lead” and Michael did the lower harmony for a portion of the chorus. Sorry if this was rambling a bit, but the truth is Michael Sweet sounds this good because he IS that good, not due to fakery or prerecorded vocals.

I loved these guys as a kid! God, they still sound remarkable! True story.... In 8th grade our music teacher had us bring in music to play for the class, and he would rate them, see Mr. Brunell was a classical pianist and he loved all things classical. Well, I brought in Stryper’s Battle Hyme of the Republic, for the class to listen to and this is what He said to us as he was almost in tears, he said something in these lines “This was powerful, this is almost perfect! But I can’t give these guys a 10, bc there’s only one man that can create a perfect score (as he turns and point at a picture hanging on the wall), Mozart!” I’ll never forget that day!!! Br. Brunell gave my taste in music a 9.5 rating!!! 🤟 RIP Mr. Brunell!!!!

Such a great mix, totally balanced (apart from the start of Oz solo). Friend of mine saw them late 80s at a festival with the stage at the bottom of a valley making a natural bowl. The acoustics were terrible. My friend was mixing for one of the early bands and said he couldn't get a good sound. Stryper came on later and their sound was perfectly balance. He still has no idea how they did it. They also kicked and blew everyone away. Total professionals.

Michael Sweet has to be the only singer from the entire 80s hair metal era that can still hit that high note... and he can shred too! God gave him so much talent, he could have made so much more money in a secular act but instead he chose to glorify God. I was born in 1991 so I don't know about their glory days but I'm a Stryper fan for life.

Jesus IS THE way, THE life and THE truth. In no way is that indoctrination. Just facts. Reject him you’ll reject the One who sent Him. He commands all man everywhere to repent. Why do you think this bands does what they do? To honor the One they know has they’re soul in his hands. You should investigate a little further.

@@scarlodonnell3631 jesus only died for a weekend. He still exists today. He sacrificed nothing. The fact that you would worship a being who would have his own kid tortured and killed in your place says a lot about you. I guess you dont believe in personal responsibility, and will gladly let an innocent being suffer in your place

I was in a Christian rock band back in the early 90s. I always wanted to start Sunday morning church with this song. They'd have had to have a few EMTs standing by. :-)

I saw the major Christian acts of the 80s/early 90s - Larry Norman, Randy Stonehill, Phil Keaggy, Joe English Band, Servant, Petra, Resurrection band. I've met some of the people in these bands and have enjoyed their music through the years. Never saw Stryper though. I had sat i church for about three years and had figured out what I had to do, but was a bit concerned about music. OK, if I do this Jesus thing does that mean I can't listen to Led Zeppelin any more? Because there's no way I'm listening to Pat Boone for the rest of my life. Then along came Resurrection Band. Oh yeah baby!

Huh. Weird. All this time I thought Michael Sweet was mostly just the rhythm guitar and Oz Fox was the soloist. After all this time they still have it. I remember when my family became Christian back in 1983 and my brother had brought in the Soldiers Under Command cassette. The idea of 'Christian metal' was foreign to me and I tried to wrap my brain around it. lol.

What I like about this music is it still praises Jesus and it's rock and roll for Christ. I also love Petra because it praises Jesus also and turns Young people into God's children willingly. God uses these groups for HIS Glory. Psalms 100 1 says to make a joyful noise unto the Lord All ye lands. So if anybody has anything against this kind of rock back it up with the scriptures. 👍🙏🎚️❤️
