I picked one of these up second hand with the trs switch and it still out works all my newer overdrives. They gave me so many new sounds to try out. I love these even if I find them late!

Strymon is ridiculously on point with their products

That Les Paul and The Captain's vibrato sounded immense, great demo guys.

The editing is the best part.

My favorite part of this pedal is the expression pedal aspect. You can set the pedal to buffered bypass, and set the expression mode to "volume pedal" mode. So you can turn an expression pedal into a volume pedal if you want, and it even works as a volume pedal with the power off on the Sunset.

Pete seems to have so many guitars, he just picks one that matches his outfit! Great review!

Pete's playing is just inspirational. This pedal would be great on a small board since it covers two gain stages and you can set the favorite as a boost. That's all you need.

People buy Strymon because that's what they like. "Too expensive" is completely relative. It's worth what people will pay for it.

It’s technically 6 pedals so £300 (£50 each) isn’t really expensive. Especially as it only takes up the space of 1 1/2 pedals.

I bought a Timeline after so many great reviews and also trying the presets and how you set it up. Bit like my Wampler Tape Echo after a while I use about two presets. I also have a Dawner Prince Boonar and a Flashback. No more Strymon for me! I agree with Phil Smith if digital stay cheap a la TC electronics minis, you can them all for the price of a Strymon! or if you want everything expensive go AX8 or Helix!

I like Chase Bliss but for me way to complicated but the sound awesome. Focus on the experience playing, disregard the cost and name and find your happy place.

You should do a challenge where you each pick a brand out of a hat for guitar, amp, and pedals each and are able to create a budget less rig using only those brands!

Hey Rob, I took some of your advice that you left on another video about getting a license. Unfortunately for me that means having to go to jail for a couple of days to handle some warrants. Well I just got released yesterday and all legalities taken care of in that town, got a new court date next week to take care of the rest. Anyway, I'm so much closer to being able to get a license.Thanks, your a bigger inspiration than you know.

If it's looked at the way lee said, like two pedals, 300 ain't too bad really. It's around 200 for a Wampler or keeley drive pedal

I found using the V guitar which 95% won't ever have screwed up your demo although it is unlike other shops standard Strat and LP demos.

Haven't done math for a while but, I think there's only 81 possible combinations. 4 options: 3 in drive a, 3 in drive b, the brightness, 3 signal path options. 3 to the fourth power would give the number of possibilities which adds up to 81. Haven't math'd for a while so I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong.

Personally, I feel like there are so many great sounding gain pedals out there that the player has to go out there and find the right one for their play style. Don't get me wrong, I think the Sunset and the Riverside sound great, but I also feel like I've found the right pedal for me.

Now that you've done the Sunset, Riverside & Elektron Analog Drive, how about checking out the Chase Bliss "Brothers"? Or the other Chase Bliss stuff. They make super-exciting units at this price-point, I'd love to see a video of you guys noodling with them :)

Something I don’t exactly understand is why use an amp not a lot of people use (H&K) as well as a guitar almost no one uses the Flying V. I would have done a fender amp and the Marshall with a les Paul or a Strat/Tele. All of those are what most people play.

I would love to see a side by side of the sunset and the riverside with the same amp and guitar setup. just a thought :)

Kevin Case I wanted to like the Sunset more but I think the Riverside is a better overdrive. Much more natural tone. It’s it own thing and not trying to copy any other pedals.

I'm surprised that Flying V has that level of sustain. surprisingly long. Especially because of the fact that it's a Floyd. Even when it's on the base tone it's impressive.

I really wish there was an option to have each "side" of the pedal in a separate loop for a switching system. But nonetheless this is a huge value for variety of sounds in a compact package. With the favorite switch attached, that's 6 foot-switchable tones (not including bypass). The gain-stacking probably puts it ahead of the Elektron for me in the "lots of sounds in one box" category.

I believe you could with midi from your switcher. There is a 1/4 inch trs midi in to control it

Loved watching Coffee Cup's blow up and disappear... Did someone say Fairy Dust?

They don't show this, but the Captain has a 3 button overdrive foot switch hooked to a mat under Rob's ass tied to a 240 volt electrical circuit. The Cap hits it to kick Rob into overdrive while he twists the knobs.

I love the Sunset and the Riverside, but am leaning heavily towards the Riverside because the Sunset is just a bit too modern for me and the Riverside can get more classic rock tones which is what I want.
