Struggling to Hear God's Voice

Ойын-сауық

If you’re struggling to hear God’s voice, take heart in Fr. Mark-Mary’s words of hope here. Complementing the advice given by Jackie and Bobby Angel in their new book, Fr. Mark-Mary encourages you to trust in God’s guidance.
He recounts the time when he was working as a missionary in Honduras providing for the poorest families there. The decisions he had to make to ensure the most needy families received food from his mission weighed on him tremendously. Only by praying, deciding, and trusting in God’s providence was he able to proceed and provide the help the families needed.
Especially in discerning his vocation as a Franciscan Friar of the Renewal, Fr. Mark-Mary put God’s will before all else. It seems to have paid off quite well, and that’s why he wants to embolden you to do the same.
Check out Jackie and Bobby Angel’s new book, Pray, Decide, and Don’t Worry: Five Steps to Discerning God’s Will-written in collaboration with Fr. Mike Schmitz-which is now available for pre-order at: ascensionpress.com/collection...

You are certainly not all by yourself. God is with you and so are the Saints and brothers and sisters. But you also have to be willing to reach out. I know of a woman who feels lonely, but she pushes people away and doesn't want to open her heart and be vulnerable. If that's you, you need to take chances, pray and ask God to lead you to good people and take the chance to open your heart to them and allow them inside.

@@nolancavanaugh406 If you have discerned marriage then trust that God will send the right person you're way. In the meantime, focus on improving yourself. The time will be well worth it. I yearned for my spouse for a very long time, but when I met him I realized that when I had been ready, he hadn't been ready. It takes two. God has to arrange two lives to come together at the right time. Be patient with him and he won't disappoint you. I know I received a lot more than what I ever thought possible through my husband.

Pray to be saved by gods grace. Other than that what other people call their intuition is the Holy Spirit so if you start listening to that the louder and more you will hear gods voice. If those two don’t work read the Bible and meditate on it. If the Bible is too hard read classical literature first. Think about your actions and hey you do them. Think about other peoples reactions and why they do that what drives People. This is how I hear gods voice and his guidance and if I feel like I’m starting to not hear him I try to be more present and analytical of what people do, etc.

@@caroc4327 Yesterday at Mass I asked the question to my RCIA director, when we ask God a question how do we know where to look and listen for his answer? She told me often times we receive the answer we need through His word and the word of others. And here I am in the comments of a video that I felt called to and I see your response that is the exact answer I needed to hear, just because I'm ready doesn't mean that the one He has planned for me is ready yet and that's not something I've really considered. Being impatient is the nature of humans and a constant battle to overcome but improving myself daily and striving to become the best man I can be for the one He has planned for me is the biggest motivator I have right now. I will admit, however, that with all this in mind I still struggle to see the light at the end of the tunnel on a daily basis. God bless

This is how I feel: God speaks to people like Fr. Mark-Mary because He has chosen them specially. He doesn't speak to ordinary schlubs like me because He hasn't chosen us specially. I can kid myself that "God is walking with me in my decisions" etc. etc. - but I don't really believe that this is true: the evidence just isn't there in my life. God WON'T help with my decision-making, but He WILL blame me if I get things wrong. I guess that I just somehow should have been one of God's Special Ones - except that I have no idea how to do this.

Was blown away by that prayer at 5:05 so decided to write it down….. Lord, I believe that you have called me to this situation. Lord you know my limits, you know what I know, you called me as I am. So here’s what I am going to do Lord, I’m gonna do my best. I am going to try and get all the information I can. Then I’m going to make a decision and I will entrust it to you, Lord. And if I make the wrong decision I’m gonna trust that you are God and you are good and I’m just one instrument. You will come into these women’s lives and provide through another means if it is the wrong decision. If it is the right decision Lord I believe and I trust because of who you say you are that you’ll bless it and you will anoint it,

In every prayer and decisions we make, it was never about making them alone and waiting for results. It's about making them while trusting God the results are what He has planned for everyone involved. Thank you again for this teaching.

Have you tried reading about the life of St Ignatius of Loyola he was a military man, a man of the world and seasoned in battle, worldly pleasures and a rich life. He himself had no access to the novels of the time and had to make do with books about the Saints in a period of convalascence...a literary distraction which brought about his conversion. He might understand more about your situation than you think

old comment, I hope you're doing ok, but please know Jesus wants you to come to Him when you've sinned. St Faustina writes about this in her diary. as soon as you realize a failure on your part, throw yourself into the arms of His mercy, and don't be afraid! trust in His mercy and allow yourself repentance and peace, not frustration and beating yourself up. shame and worry come from the devil. God loves you and wants you to live in His peace.

I have heard God's Voice when I took a glance to close my eyes 2 days ago around 9pm. I felt that my body has a different sensation, it's a different feeling that my body felt, it feels like I was in another dimension. What I heard is "....Angels....." God said to me with little clarity and a loud voice with Echo voice in all directions. It is like a loud speaker all over the sorroundings but he has a big voice. I only hear the word "Angels" but the other words that he said are slowly fading and I can't understand it. I think I heard his voice in a matter of only a few seconds and faded, then I opened my eyes and I felt different again. I was not sleeping that time, I am just closing my eyes for a few seconds but never expected that God the Father is the Word, and the Word was God. Now I know that he wants to send his Angels on me because I have been thinking a lot of bad things lately.

Having awakened from yet another puzzling dream, opebed the KZread app to find this video was at the top. Don't know if all dreams are divinely inspired, but I did ask in prayer right before falling to sleep if the Franciscans is the right place for me in my desire to serve God. Dream didn't seem His answer was yes or no, but coupled with what you shared about having to screen women to decide who was eligible or not for help, the dream could be interpreted as a what to expect I'd be walking into while helping the poor. Not pretty. Constantly needing to watch where and what I step in. Struggling to persuade those people who can help themselves to clean up. IRL, I worked in a bank for just over one year. Learned I'm not interested in money. I've been homeless, and know what poverty is like. Living a minimalistic life appeals to me. And I've honestly been most comfortable with those similarly affected. Sadly, the dream doesn't say whether or not if I'd be effective in the Franciscan ministry in 0ursuit of doing God's work. More prayer and meditation required to hear His voice.

I feel like God is calling to me to be a nurse. When I think about being a nurse it gives me a sense of peace and not of anxiety.

Here I am looking through KZread and one of the places I always go for answers is Ascension Presents. I really want to learn how to hear God’s voice more clearly but my own thoughts always get in the way and it’s tough to discern which is me and which is God... also, I’m from Honduras and it’s so exciting that you went there! My aunt is a director at a Catholic orphanage there and the poverty situation is very sad. God bless you.

This is a great video on discernment. Please make a video on listening to God's voice! Sometimes we need to hear him speak truth, and healing, not just direction. Thank you for sharing!

I bought the book on Amazon Kindle: Pray, Decide Don't Worry. Have not yet read but I am sure that it is a good recommendation. I also pray to my Guardian Angel 7 Glory Be's every morning for guidance and seven Glory Be's to the Holy Spirit for enlightenment. I don't remember where that suggestion came from. I know it helps me when I am confused or unsure. God's Blessings!

Wow, so relieved to hear this! I grew up in the non-demonization church and so much energy was put into the whole, “what is God’s will for X in your life?” Perhaps even to the type of cereal you’re gonna have in the morning. (I joke, but not really). A book from the Protestant side that really gave me some relief was Kevin DeYoung’s book, “Just Do Something: a liberating approach to find God’s will or how to make a decision without dreams, visions, fleeces, impressions, open doors, random bible verses, casting lots, liver shivers, writing in the sky, Etc.” It seems like waaaay too much responsibility for God to put on us if we are doing our best to then be chastised for not doing the most optimal thing because we were not knowledgable or wise enough. Where would God’s grace be in that? Thanks brother and keep it up!
