How many times did you blow at the screen ? 😂
Why no 6mm for weld?
No weld prep?

Why don’t you upload more videos mate and we would have some ideas about how can we make faster manufacturing 😊
What is the welding name
Use combination square to mark the holes by lets say inch and a half holes.. set your square to inch and a half .. real easy, instead of finding the centers

Sir I need one Job I'm MIG arc welder and fabrication
A lot of marking out for something you can just eye up. All U needed was the top centerline and a bubble on the top flange to the side of the plate
@TheMetalFabGuy

Nice. So you level the top flange (with the centre line marked) and plumb the side of the plate for its tack position. ?
What's the tolerance on that because that isn't flush at the flanges.
@TheMetalFabGuy

Does it have to be flush at the flanges ?

May God’s peace and mercy be upon you, and thank you for the video that presents the content. I want to thank you for this content. For a simple request and I need help. I have been working as a welder for more than 20 years and I have evidence of experience and I have worked with major companies. I am from Morocco and I am looking for a work contract and immigration. Can you help me? Thank you. I needed welding, I am a good welder, you will not regret helping me
Can a 254 x 146 x 37kg/m beam have a end plate too?
@TheMetalFabGuy
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Gurpiar. Any UB or UC including a UB 254x146x37 can have an end plate. What that end plate is doing would need to be calculated by a structural engineer. Thickness / Bolt size / number of bolts / weld spec So it’s capable of performing its intended job.

I never understood why guys Mark a measurement with a v
@TheMetalFabGuy
Жыл бұрын
The point of the inverted ‘V’ being the accuracy of your mark. Each to their own. But if you’re Referring to a single line mark as a viable option then personally I tend to not be 100% sure of where the exact mark is I need when I’ve gone back to it. You can also ‘correct’ your first mark of the v with the second mark, if its slightly out. Thanks for watching.

Mistake, The center of the column is taken from the center of the web, never the flange.

Sometimes the web can be off set.. depends on who supplies the steel.

@@1700iDiGuy If that is the case, then it is out of speck. Check the MSDS. If you are setting a head or base plate or a gusset plate ALWAYS take your measurements from the center of the web. Work off of the center of the WEB. Never the flange.

@@1700iDiGuy Depending on the beam size (weight) the two flanges can be offset. Each member has a tolerance for flang misalignment. This is why you always use the web.

@@frank64409 perhaps when one end of the UB has a centralled web and the other end is 7 mm offset, you know you have a deformed beam , i’ll use the flange to center my end plate.

Flanges are not always parallel Michael. But you’d know that if you’d been in the game for any length of time. Look forward to your first video. Another one who hasn’t managed one in 9 years. 😉
Never tack in the centre of your plate, the welders won't appreciate that

Work from centre of web not the flange turning sq around wont improve anything lol
@SouleymaneG

You always work off the flange to center a plate because the majority of the time, beams aren't properly formed. You'll have twisted webs and flanges that are big or small on either side. During assembly the web is irrelevant, you'll always work off the flange. Especially when there are holes drilled in the beam.
@seanhannan1823

@@SouleymaneG exactly, the flange can be different sizes and usually aren't parallel. The web isn't irrelevant. Tie beams and bracers all come from the web so your base plate should come from the web.
