Why is it that the other acetyl group on position 6 in heroin does not also get metabolized to possibly become hydrolyzed and become less potent?

Morphine has simple methyl group at 17th position. So it acts as mu receptor agonist.

right, but assuming you replaced that, yielding 11carbons on the nitrogen how does chain length or various substitution effect agonist potency?
