Strozzi From Il Primo libro de’madrigali / Members of Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra

Музыка

Barbara Strozzi was a contemporary of Monteverdi and was called “La virtousissima cantatrice” - the most masterful singer. She was included among the Venetian cultural elite of philosophers, writers and poets, and was seen as a pioneering composer.
Her music is exquisitely emotional and beautiful. Il Primo libro de’madrigali was a collection of madrigals for two to five voices and the lyrics were likely composed by her father, Giulio Strozzi. (During the Renaissance and early Baroque eras, madrigals were a widespread secular, multi-part form of music with roots in Italy.)
