Strauss From Also sprach Zarathustra / Tobias Ringborg / Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra

The introduction to Richard Strauss’ monumental orchestral work Also Sprach Zarathustra is a highly famous piece of classical music, comparable only to Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.
The music is based on German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche’s book Also Sprach Zarathustra - Thus Spoke Zarathustra - which is a dense and layered essay on philosophy, humanity and morals. Strauss’ music is used by conductor Stanley Kubrick in the film 2001: A Space Odyssey, but in the 1970s it was also used to open many of Elvis Presley’s concerts.
