Stroke Imaging: Review and Future Directions

This full-length lecture serves as an overview of the medical imaging of stroke. The provided content is geared toward medical students, residents, fellows, and practicing physicians who are interested in the imaging and management of cerebrovascular accidents.
In this video, I a) provide a brief overview of the pathophysiology of acute cerebral ischemia, b) detail the imaging findings of cerebral ischemia and acute, subacute, and chronic infarctions on CT and MRI, c) explain the principles, acquisition technique, and interpretation of CT perfusion imaging of the brain, d) compare and contrast non-invasive modalities of cerebrovascular imaging (ultrasound, CT angiography, and MR angiography), e) briefly detail the current role of endovascular management of acute stroke, and f) report future directions in stroke imaging.
