Hahaha, when the captions are on it says you're going to Turtles in the park. Looks good naked. Good tips on surface prep before applying stripper. One mistake people make is not applying stripper thick enough, I teach my apprentices to apply it like jam on toast. The plastic on top helps stop it drying out and strip it better. So good to see you do that. I've found different strippers work differently on different paint types too. Cam stripper works really well and turco 5351 aircraft stripper is another but expensive. Aged stripper usually is black and doesn't work as well as it should.

I can't believe you sold the Supra! One of the most beautiful cars in a long time. This Celica looks like a Mustang from the back. Lots of good info on stripping also. The got rid of the really good strippers a few years ago (bad for the environment, blah, blah, blah). This model eventually turned into the Celica GT-S - the Supra forerunner, I think? Good episode Cam, thanks for sharing.

Loving the channel Cam. Ive had my RA28 for 12 years and it’s been a parked up project that whole time! Ive finally (thanks to lockdowns) been able to patch all the rust. So my next step is stripping the paint and getting it ready for paint. Thanks for the motivation to keep chipping away at it.

Honestly it looks pretty great with the battle scars and dodgy repairs! Love the idea to take it in bare metal. Looking forward to seeing the repairs, but a coat of satin clear as-is would likely pull a good amount of attention (even if people have a laugh up close). When I get to stripping mine I'll be using roller drum tool instead of a disc, but was wondering if I should use a chemical stripper first to help keep dust down. I'm planning to set up a makeshift "booth" with dust collection. Would you say the time would be better spent with a chemical stripper and follow up with abrasives or just go full send with the abrasives and dust collection?

To be honest I used to really dislike strippers, but in the right circumstances there's a lot of time savings to be made and it's much cleaner - just a pain when a lot of spray putty or filler is involved! Weighing up my options for protecting the bare metal, stay tuned!

I’ve been using CAM (appropriate 😋) paint stripper at the restoration business I’ve been helping out at and that’s also dark. I’ve had mixed results with using plastic over the top or not. Sometimes I’ve found it worked a lot better without. But can definitely recommend giving that stripper a try in the future.
