I like Joe's dynamism in his shooting style. Keeping things fast paced and changing quickly keeps the shoot fun and creative.

Wow, I feel embarrassed that I have only just discovered Joe via this video, been a huge fan of Daniel's for ages. Such a great video (and the others in the shoot). The communication from Joe towards the models is sublime.

Movable clam-shell lighting....lol. Love it! I never thought to do that when I did studio work. Great job both Joe and Daniel! I've just added that nugget to my arsenal.

Brilliant read, and correction on the skin reflectivity. When I first saw what you saw, I (wrongly) thought, "Oh, it's a little underexposed." Moving the subjects was a great choice, and also later rotating them to a slightly different angle worked really well. That's why I watch what you do! Thanks. :)

The portraits 3/4 in were much better than the earlier shots. The earlier shots were dark and gritty. The later flat lighting was complimentary as well as the contoured lighting on the man.

Nice video--love Joe's (and your) work. Question--earlier in the shoot you and Joe were concerned about losing hair in the black background, but when you switched to clamshell, you didn't add a separation light--curious whether you chose that because you felt that it was unnecessary in the clamshell set up because of the nature of the look, or perhaps you were just staying consistent with the 2 strip box theme and didn't want to add a 3rd light?

I'd say it was a little of both. Sometimes when you start a session you have something in mind and as it progresses , you sometimes move in a slightly different direction.

They both are blondes, so is not a big deal with black background. If they was brunette he probably need to add a third light for hair.
