Thanks Gavin. I definitely will try this with backlit photos of my models.
ohhhh shit, I remember watching Gavin back in the day (2011) - cool to see he's still doing tutorials :)
love finding your older videos. ive found that youre just as good from 4 years as you are now. yeah that sounds bad that youve not 'gotten better' but you were great back then too!
Great video Gavin. I really like how you start from square one and if that doesn't work you guide the viewer all the way to a finished setup. Keep up the great work😁👍

This is amazing.. I like the fact you admit when you're wrong or error when you're trying to do a project most photographers do not..

Gonna go out on a limb here and say that if you believed he made mistakes then he really did a great job in the video. The Gavster knew what the outcome was for each setup and manufactured the "mistakes" to demonstrate the problem solving process for us viewers. It's a technique used to help us learn, and he's darn good at it too.
Excellent tutorial Gavin. Many thanks

Masking off a large softbox = a strip box = mind blown. So simple but I never would have thought of it. Thanks!
Fantastic look
Love your hack to make a thin light source from a large soft box! Thanks!!!

Thanks Gavin. That tip on covering half a regular softbox to get a striplight was gold. Can't believe I hadn't thought of it before. Those shots would look great in B&W as well.

Thanks Tim. It's an oldie tip but a goodie! The original plan was to go B&W but when I added the bubbles, they're was just enough colour to make it worth keeping.
