    We have these engines here as the TU26. Had one to repair yesterday. Symptoms could be misleading. Fairly new but stalling as if the ignition was cutting off. Replacec the original Torch plug with cc a NGK BPMR 7A. No stalling like before but prolonged idle it stalled. Cured that with the high speed adjustment screw . But it was not smooth, and needed a high idle. I then did what i should have done first, adjust the low speed, which on these carbs needs the needle to be turned out. But there was no slot for a screw driver on the top of the needle. So i had to lift the top off and use a nose pliers to turn the needle out . Started up at 2nd pull and ran like a champ. So i tried the Torch plug and it worked fine. This carb needle being too lean has been an issue on several of these TU 26 engines that i had repaired. If the needle is also adjusted in relation to the h screw the engine gives a far smoother idle and minimum four stroking in low to medium but the bare presence in full throttle, and minimum exhaust smoke

Nice having such little mass at the end though, the engine spools up very fast because of it! Very zippy setup!

    It holds a total of one length of cutting line LOL. You literally unscrew it slightly, slip in the line, tighten the screw and cut it to length. It’s not a good design in that respect

    @@Big_Johns yes, it’s certainly not my first choice in design mate. If you have lengths already cut up, it’s pretty simple and quick - unscrew the head 1/4 of a turn, slip new line in, tighten up 1/4 of a turn. However abump line is quicker haha.

    This punch set was from my local hardware store, but there is nothing special about it :) it’s overpriced if i’m honest. I’d suggest going onto Amazon and search for “0.5-10cm hole punch set” hope it helps!

  • @chrisrageNJ

    @chrisrageNJ

    If you're in America, Harbor Freight sells punch sets. Quite often I don't find the size I need so I grind my own out of a piece of pipe or tubing. Sand the end of the tube flat and chase the center with a burr or a drill bit if there's any sort of seam, then grind a cutting edge on the tube on a bench grinder. The striations should go from the cutting edge down, parallel to the tube. If you twist it sideways on the grinder you can see it easier but it'll cut like shit. If you don't find the exact size you need I've had luck with a flaring tool for brake lines to make the proper diameter, then sharpen the cutting edge. It can be soft metal, too- I've used aluminum and copper in a pinch, they'll dull out quicker but they'll do the job. You can also sharpen steel banding strap and cut it with aviation snips/ bend and form it to cut odd shapes. An exacto using a piece of Masonite or hard rubber works well too, just avoid plain wood bc the grain can lead the exacto to spots you don't want to cut

    Hey thanks for the kind words, lots of great questions! A tachometer is an essential tool to ensure you don’t over speed the engine. You can get very close without, just by ear, but I do both, by ear and a tach. The compression tester accuracy is dependant on the quality. Yes they make specific small engine testers :) I often test spark under compression too. Thanks for watching!
