STRESSED & OVERWHELMED By Her Closet 👕 Calm Restored (pt 3)
Ойын-сауық
I thought we'd start the refrigerator declutter today, but I really needed that satisfying before and after of a project 🤪 so that we can keep powering through the rest of the apartment. This will officially conclude this room BUT we will be back after she moves for another declutter and a thorough organization. For now though, it's time to start working in other parts of the house!

Today we're heading back to my friend Eunice's house to help her declutter her home before she moves. She's incredibly stressed and overwhelmed with the thought of moving, but I feel confident that if we can get her more decluttered and organized before she moves apartments, she's going to feel so much better.

Hi guys! I’m traveling this week and haven’t had a chance to go through last week’s comments, but I will as soon as I can. We’re in Osaka and Kyoto this week for a visa run and to see Jackson Browne (pinch me!!). I just wanted to give this refresher for our process here: Eunice will be moving VERY SOON and we’re trying to squeeze in as many declutter projects for her as I can until then. I think it’s best to move with less, especially if you have things you no longer need, so we’re trying to go quick and grab that clutter and then move on to a new space. When I start a project like this, the roadmap is designed specifically for the client. If it doesn’t make sense as a viewer or if you think there may be a better way to do it, it’s likely that there are other (private) factors that we take into consideration but don’t share publicly. For this project, this was our best path to take and now we’ll move on to the bathrooms and kitchen. In Korea, movers come to pack and transport everything for you, so thankfully we don’t need to bother with packing prep. As soon as she moves we’re going to go through everything for a 3rd time, decluttering more and getting her organized. I know that won’t make sense to some and that’s fine. The TSD method is about giving you the tools to be your own Space Maker so that you can take control of your space and design a plan that’s best for you. So YOU DO YOU😊 Can’t wait to start more projects here and keep showing Eunice how powerful the state of calm can be in your home when you keep it decluttered and organized. Hope you all have a great week! (And if you want to see any of our Japan trio it will be on the vlog channel very soon🌸- The Suitcase Designer Vlogs) -April

To have a visual exp date, you could assign a color dot sticker for a year and then you can quickly scan and see earlier year colors. Wonderful job!!!

Great idea. Have two dots. One color standard for each month, and assign a color for years. This would work in food pantries too on items you don’t use/eat often.

Great idea !
Pro tip for samples!! I keep all my samples w/ their full size counterparts. My sample cleansers go in my cleanser drawer, sample serums go in my serum drawer, etc! That way I am way more likely to grab it and give it a try when I’m looking to switch to something new! I know myself enough to know that when I want something new, I’m going to go to that specific items’ drawer and not to a bundle of random samples hidden somewhere else! Happy organising!!! 😇😇

Great idea. I tend to keep out what im using and pick that day according to what i think would be good for my skin. Even though its in a container you can still see it. If i cant see it i wont reach for it, but i would love less visual clutter in the bathroom.

I agree. And we don't need more than 10 diff samples to try. I have regift most of mine and only use about 4 samples per year. As for travel, I dump my favorite skincare into reusable travel bottles to prevent me from hoarding samples.
Those clear containers are a game changer. I have to say, Eunice really did a commendable job keeping the skincare products somewhat organized since your last visit. She should feel proud of herself.

I think the same. She needs decluttering every 4 months
Hi April, I really love your organization approach because it's not trend oriented, it's more trial and error and favors calm rather than pretty. Pretty is good, calm is better :) Thank you! This series is so good :)
I think in her new home you should help set up her skincare like a store. Think lots of shelves with a back stock drawer at the bottom of each shelf. Each product on the shelf with back stock could have a discreetly placed sticker on it. Also stickers less discreetly placed to indicate that product is expiring soon. As far as upkeep, maybe she could have an end of the month reset… every month lol
This was so enjoyable to watch! Not only because Eunice is fun and cute and you 2 giggling together in previous episodes was hilarious, it was satisfying to see those make up items and cosmetics been put in clear containers.
Sad to see so much products that have expired ...definitely proving way too much stuff that possibly could have been donated I'd eunice had been on top of things. Hoping now things will improve great job everyone ❤
There are some great acrylic tier organizers that may help her with her everyday items. Good to see that she utilized some lazy Suzan’s also.
What a result! I can understand why you were both exhausted after those three pretty intense days of work, but it was so worth it.

🤪 I slept for three days after that 🤪
I think you nailed her organization style...she likes to see what she has. With the extra stuff in the drawers it may help to add dividers or 2 smaller containers in that space to keep things a bit more organized. However it may be more beneficial for her to just be able to toss things in (easier to put away than take out) and just do a regular purge/organized in those spaces. I do love someone elses suggestion to use color dot stickers to show expiration (either yearly or maybe even a shorter time-frame of 3 -6 months).
Thank you so much Eunice for having us in your home and sharing your new adventure with us. Looking forward to more of your adventures with April as well. Take care everybody!

That’s what I thought too, especially before they expire. It’s so sad to see them go in the bin when they could’ve been used by women in need before they expired. A lesson for everyone, don’t more samples than what you can use
The clear makeup bins make her look more like it is for professional rather than personal. It looks great!
Love Eunice and you 2 together sm!
I feel like it would be amazing to turn Eunice's skincare storage into her own little skincare boutique. Imagine having an an at-home Sephora!! It would be super interesting to get the inside scoop from a cosmetics boutique manager to learn how they organize, rotate and present their products.
What I would recommend for her new apartment would be to get these Ikea's Alex shallow drawers and always put new stuff from the left side and use it in order from the right side :D (you can adjust putting it with expiration date but it would be more work of course, so decide how you like it ;) Great work, great friendship, good luck for the future and getting back with love for skincare :P

Oh I'll look into those!
I don't use beauty products much, so can't relate really, but I wanted to insert an idea about expiration dates. My husband and I are older now and have a lot of prescription and over the counter meds and supplies, and that's where we run into problems keeping up with expiration dates. We also have trouble reading the expiration dates, because the dates are little and our eyes are old. What we ended up doing was grabbing a sharpie marker and writing the expiration date on the cap or box, big enough to see easily when you're grabbing a new item. If you don't want to write directly on the item, you could write on some masking tape and stick that to the bottle or box. Easy to peel off if you're using the item in a video.
Why do I feel so accomplished by what you/Euni have done? Lol I was cheering loudly for you both.

Hahaha I mean it was a group effort 😝🥰🥰
Eunice should have a little shop where she lets people shop all her products after she tests/films them, except everything is free.. I myself have never been a makeup/skin care person because of my sensitive skin, but the struggle on Eunices face with every item she held shows just how much she cares about them. She should be proud of work you two did. And no I don’t think she is a hoarder. 😂😊

I'll make sure we talk about that next time we revisit this space. Friends and family are always taking them.... you can't leave Eunice's house without skincare🤣
love how honest she is!!! she is so sweet but when you have too much that you are not using it gets so overwhelming and stressful!!! love how good you are and there is intent to keep things realistic and purposeful...
Looks great!! It definitely helps clear the mind when things are organized and put away. This was fun too 👍🏻
She could also consider for unopened extras doing giveaways when she reviews. That would cut down, and donating to any women's shelters or civic centers etc. It looks great.
Yes on the clear larger boxes, huge improvement. After she moves, she should treat herself to a dressing table for her makeup room. Someone suggested putting colored sticker dots on all incoming products, by year or month rec'd, easier to know at a glance if it's time to toss. This is a great idea; I think it would make it so easy to quickly eliminate products a few times per year, that have expired. Nicely done, look forward to the move.
A thought about organizing her file drawers, maybe it would be better to organize by expiration date vs by product? So each drawer could represent a year and within the drawer small boxes for each type of product. Top drawer would always be everything that is expiring the soonest. Just an idea. I love how the room turned out! ~Mrs. C
Good job Eunice! I know it wasn't easy, it never is if its your own clutter!
I´m so lazy, I need very easy access to stuff: clear stackable DRAWER type containers. If I have to move and open de lid of the lower container, I wont put stuff back. But is really hard to find drawer type containers. Good luck. I love your chemestry and the easy friendship. Thank you for the videos.
I saw wonderful pictures over on Facebook on how you have to keep trying until you get it right. Someone had beautiful custom kitchen cabinets that the owner hated because they had glass fronts. She used a classy looking covering over the glass and even me who thinks all the lovely china should be displayed felt calmer looking at pictures. Some need to see everything and some don’t and sometimes it even depends on the item.
You give such good and calm Sarah Jessica Parker vibes, I love it

I know when I receive a couple of samples, along with my online order, the samples just sit there in my drawer and I just forget about them. I can't begin to imagine how overwhelmed with samples Eunice must feel. The sheer volume! Along with products given to her to trial and the ones she purchases. If only she established a distribution method, where items are quickly moved along to appreciative family, friends and followers. It's the only thing that makes sense. She could keep her favourites and make others happy, at the same time. I am saying this, but it would be a physically and emotionally challenging endeavour. Thank you for sharing your situation. You inspire me to let more things go too ❤
I can see why Eunice wanted to keep the box - it is lovely. I wish they didn't have such nice things to package - because it's so hard to commit to declutter it because it's so pretty! But there is one thing about the products which are required for the business - they look marvellous out in plain sight - they look like lotions and potions from an old time apothecary but also modern and attractive. The room is marvellous!
Great job!

I really hoped you were Going to fox the drawer pulls on that dresser. To me that’s functionality. It does look better for sure. Keeping up with the trash and unpacking the items seems to be key for her.
I'll repeat my suggestion from the other video. If she removed the products from the boxes in those drawers she would gain a lot of space. Even if she collapsed the boxes and put them together in one drawer in case you needed the box for a review of the product
Well done to you both on a huge declutter/sort/organise task. It will help so much before the move. Have a great week. Mary, Joes wife 👏💪👍💐🙏

This looks so nice! You both did a great job, even though I am sure it was exhausting work. It looks so much calmer in there, but also functional.
Looks fantastic! I wonder if there could be a system, for samples at least, to store by expiration date? So that way she can always know what needs to be used next or tossed?
I have decided that the visual system works best for me. It doesn’t work for most. But I discovered that it works best for me. I use it for clothing and everything else.

Love declutters!
Not Pinterest worthy? I think it's Pinterest organised and clean, I would rather Pinterest showed me this and how to do it, than show me a room where everything matches but not normal life. Btw I love you and Eunice together, I was thinking she reminds me of your mom, at first hesitant but by the end of the day she's throwing so much stuff out. Amazing guys, fantastic job
I like stickers for expiration dates in the drawers. Consider separate bin in drawers for soon to expire things that should be used soon. For open shelving consider shallow shelving, or turn these shelves on wheels sideways (like library ‘stacks’) so you double shelf number and have access from both sides (essentially creating more and more shallow shelves). Not sure how it would work after the move…😊
The room looks awesome, it makes perfect sense to declutter snd reorganize before the move. 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤

Great video as always. I really benefit from seeing your trials and errors in this organization path for Eunice. I myself have trouble organizing, mostly, I always feel, because I don’t know what’s possible. I need to see examples. Your channel, but especially Eunice’s series, really helps me for that! For the deep drawers, I feel like shallow, multiple drawers units may help. Or maybe not so shallow but with the inclined spice racks?
Great job 👍

Hello! You asked about suggestions for Eunice's storage, and all I can think is she needs something that let's her have everything on 1 level so she can see it (no stacking of products on top of each other, so she can see all of her toners or moisturizers or etc at once), but also allows her to add new products to her storage. Maybe if there is a drawer system that is both wide and shallow, or baskets (whether stackable or not, for her metal shelving) that are wide and shallow? Something that will allow you to put the new products in the back, so each time you add a new product you pull forward and then all the oldest products are at the front. And, ideally, the containers will be clear so Eunice can see the products, since that's helpful to her (which I empathize with so much).

Hey hey! Love Carla!
If she were not moving I’d say turn the clothing racks in the opposite direction and let them live in the middle of the room so she would have two isles to walk down. So she could access everything in the room.
Eunice’s house is what our houses look like if we buy everything influencers push on us! Except we would have it stacked around a tent with no money from buying it all! Luckily I’m only influenced by second hand shop!!!😂😂
Not sure how to react to seeing Euna at the end curled up in her blanket. You may need to send her flowers April! Maybe you were too tough!😅 Maybe she was thinking. "I earned this and I'm not leaving here for at least a day". Loved seeing the great work you two did. Loved seeing you "make things pretty" as you checked expiration dates. Very efficient! Hope the movers get things to her new home in the same condition you have left them. So happy for her to have the room useable again!

hey there....I've been thinking this throu and Billy from Ikea or st like that could be of help for Eunice's new house it's quite narrow, have different heights u can play with and if u want has doors, plain or with glas or half and half and u can buy omre shelves if needed and last but not least, it is not likely to be discountinued cos is one of the best sellers of ikea, so if in few years she will need st else it will be there what do u think?!?!?! oh I ve found out they also have a big bottom drawer where our beloved Eunice can store empties or back ups or things she has to hide there is not a special name for it, but it is under billy
This amount of clutter in cosmetics is just truly insane 😂
Hi, as far as the expired products, what I do is for anything I buy thether it's food, cleaning, beauty products the concept is the same. I always put fresh things all the way to the back and things that need to be used asap at the front, that way nothing is wasted. Also, before I go shopping I make an assessment of what I have and what I need to buy. That way I make sure I don't buy duplicates, and always buy what I really need rather than what I want without making sure I'm running very low or have more than enough. Also, I put likes with likes together that way. It's easier to assess and not go out of my mind trying to figure out or looking for things. Last but not least. I give everything a home thst way, things are so much easier to find, keep organized and keep it to a minimum.
I love this series. How do you know the expiration date of makeup and skincare?
@SpaceMakerMethod
Жыл бұрын
There should be a little open can symbol on the bottom with a date, but I have noticed US brands tend to not add the dates as much or it may be on the box before you open (?). But if it’s there it will be on the bottom or on the back label most likel)z

They’re from the Korean dollar store, Daiso! They came out to $2.30 usd each! There are some stores in the states so you may check if there’s one near you.
If items are kept until they are expired..... But you know its unlikely you will use them in the remaining time. There would be lots of people who could make use of the items like womens shelters. Also that frees up space and means you wont loose your favourites amongst the pile.
how can we see the expire date? thank you in advance for the support.
@SpaceMakerMethod

It's usually on the bottom of the item. Look for a little jar that's opening and it should have a date
If she’s got multiples of the same thing why wouldn’t you pour 1 into the other two?Making two full jars. I’m just trying to figure that out.
