Charlie, I’m getting vibes that you are playing with fire by being in these areas. The cartels are a different, far more dangerous presence than the street gangs in the US, and they really don’t mess around. Please be safe, brother!

Grew up in El Paso in the sixties we went to Juarez for everything from getting our hair cut to things for the house,in the 70’s as soon as the bars closed in El Paso right over the bridge to our favorite bars El Submarino and Fred’s still good in the 80’s my friend and neighbor Sandy Lopez his dad was the manager of this The Camino Real hotel one of the nicest hotels in Juarez at the time. And thanks to the democrat party the cartels are stronger than ever.

I'm Mexican and i can say that tha's the less dangerous part of Juarez in cartel zones, yes, there's some shootings there, but there´s more shootings out of civilian zones more than cities. Desert, woods and mountains are always in active fire conflict

The outside areas, the roads outside Juarez, the city it's safe almost all the time. Look, the locals are friendly, mostly of them. If you see military and police in the same place it's a safe zone. Contact with a tour guide or something, always walk with people who recognize the zone. Idk why you will be there, but be more aware of police, they like to stop you and beg for money for some reason. Cartel are not searching for american tourist, it's not good for the business but idk be careful. Riveras Del Bravo and Samalayuca are a fucked up zones, don't go there. Be asafe and welcome to Mexico. Maybe Juarez it's not a big city but it has to offer good food and more. @@Yoo-hooPapi
