That first estate you drove through, West View, is my old home ground. Born and bred in the town on that estate. I thought you were going down my old street but you thought it was a cul-de-sac. It's not as run down now as it used to be in the 70's and 80's. Rough area of a tough town. I wasn't from fishing stock but we were surrounded by fishing families. My father was still in the same house until he died 13 years ago. He'd bought it by then. The streets were safe to walk round and people didn't need to lock their doors, so long as they didn't mind their neighbours just walking in for a chat or a cup of sugar 😊 I remember one friend's house, they'd used the doors for firewood and often the only edible thing in the house was the congealed lard in the bottom of the chip pan, waiting for someone to "source" some potatoes!

There seems to be a lot more trees in Fleetwood.

You have completely blown my mind ..ive been watching you for a while however to the point i recently lost my father who moved to Fleetwood from the tameside area of Manchester 5-6 years ago so t when i saw the title of the video it obviously struck a chord. As you continued to make the journey and talk i thought surely you won't drive through or past my dads place well not only did you drive past but you went onto elsinore which is where he lived 😢 😂 very emotional but thank you Stephen .

Welcome to my lovely town of Fleetwood Lancashire.

Took the great grandsons crabbing in those lakes on Tuesday. Had coffee and cake at Dolly's baps £2.95. Very nice.

I miss England so when I see trips like this I start looking at house prices. Fleetwood doesn't seem to be to pricey so I'm tempted. I'm not sure my gaffer would be okay with my working remotely 5 hours ahead. Well the working remotely is okay but it would be impossible for me to do as built conditions surveys when I'm in the UK and working for an US firm. I'm not sure I'd be able to get a job in that area as an architect and earn what I do here. I saw a couple of houses that weren't far off the seaside for under 100k. It's very tempting. I'm not sure I could bring my motor over plus it's the wrong side of the road steering wise but I've driven Us cars back in the UK before. I know that dogs have to do 6 months quarantine but do cats? Scratches head.

We stayed in the Savoy hotel, on the Esplanade last year and had a fabulous time. I find it much quieter than Blackpool, and there's plenty of free parking near the hotel. Great vlog Stephen. Thanks.😀👍👍

I think I would want to live in the Mount Road area 14:54. Those elegant houses seem to be an oasis in a desert of, well, less desirable areas. I make no apology for my preference 🙂.

Funnily enough that area near the Mount gets a lot more crime than my area, the Shakespeare estate. Lots of HMOs on that street and surrounding. Just shows can't judge a book by its cover lol

I was born and brought up in Fleetwood, my dad and his dad were from Fleetwood, my dad worked on the docks all his working life, your video brings back a lot of good memories, my dad died last year having lived all his life in Fleetwood, his mum and dad lived in the same house from when my dad was born, I hope you do another video of Fleetwood x ❤️

thanks for the video. I have a bad head cold so went out to get some Fisherman friends here in New Zealand they have worked so I was pleased to see Fleetwood . My grandad used to take me with my model boat on the lake . We used to visit Fleetwwood alot as kids I guess cause there was not many shops and amusment places so it was a cheap day out for my parents, Love your vlogs keep up the great work.

There are very few roads in that condition in Fleetwood, if you drive around some old Council Estates you will find roads like that in every Town or City.

The home of the group Fleetwood Mack. Always pay a visit when we go to Blackpool. Remember you video when you went the a couple of years ago.MUST ADMIT i never went where you went in the car.Very good video Stephen..............Again.

For a (former?) council estate it didn’t look too bad. I didn’t see any litter or graffiti and the houses looked in reasonable condition if a little samey. The roads however, remind me of my home town several years ago so your car bumping and shuddering along gave me some unwelcome flashbacks.😟 I was really impressed with the tree lined street you drove down; plenty of room for cars as well as trees if designed properly and with the right tree selection. It really lifted the entire area and was clearly a much more enjoyable street to drive along, as your commentary showed. Finishing at the welcome home sculpture was the ideal ending point and reinforces what ‘place’ should be about…….home! Making the places we choose to live more homely, welcoming, vibrant, interesting and a whole lot greener are all vital for our physical and mental well being so thank you for showing glimpses of this in this video.👍🏼

Excellent video. I have visited Fleetwood on numerous occasions but I have never strayed off the main streets or the central area.

Went to Haven Cala Gran in Fleetwood was terrified the first time I had to drive along the tram lines.

Great video, am looking at moving to Fleetwood and the drive around hasn't disappointed, looks a beautiful place

My first impression of Fleetwood is 8/10. Looked okay and felt safe. And that artwork by the bay is just perfect 👍

I remember my parents always taking me to fleetwood market when we visited blackpool. It was brilliant fruit of the loom t-shirts, DJ mix tapes from the blackpool clubs and knock off aftershaves.

Nice drive around Fleetwood Stephen. Some of those streets are very narrow. I remember going there from Starr Gate on the tram in 2000 an epic trip. Absolutely love that view towards the end overlooking those hills. I’ll pop my parcel in the post for CRAP box to you next week a few wee gifts.

I think you were very wise turning left on Macbeth road, I used to live on Mowbray road and the road is so narrow, that most vehicles cannot get around that road without driving on the kerb even if there are no cars parked.

Thanks. I did actually drive down there earlier, but decided against it on this run after seeing just how narrow it was.

The narrow estate roads were probably built when tenants weren't likely to have cars. Nowadays two three cars per house.

Driving round lots of Council Estates makes the area look rough that goes for anywhere too! there are also lots of bungalow estates here too! And if you go near the Golf Club and along the prom from Rossall School to Fleetwood Pier there are many lovely properties, put it this way my next door neighbour’s house £850,000 the other side £750,000 so hardly run down here! Let’s maybe have an alternative different drive around next time Stephen.

I came over to Fleetwood from France to look round the area, spent a total of 1 hour . What a dump , I was thinking about buying a property but decided not to bother and your videos reinforce my decision. Overall I thought the place was very rundown and probably lacked investment over a number of years. I think the residents deserve better and the council shouldn't just neglect seaside towns.

Tried to show our town in it's worst light, didn't work out so well. Not as rough as you'd hoped eh.

Do you do any videos on morcambe bay it looks lovely home of the gypsy king Tyson fury .
