Really been enjoying this series. I find videos with constraints, like the budget limit on this one, are more enjoyable to watch than other videos where it is just a pile of new parts being put on a car. Seeing you guys be scrappy mechanics is a lot more relatable than some of the other builds lol.

The 24:31 "i'm sorry?" is the hardest i have laughed in weeks.
The ghost cam sounds amazing!!!
Your fueling issue could be the way the those 4th gen camaros return fuel at the filter instead of the end of the fuel rail. Running a dedicated return all the way to the engine and plumb into the side opposite of the inlet that way all 8 injectors have consistent and adequate pressure. Thats my best guess. Love the build and the channel. Keep it up!
The music starting and stopping had me cracking up! And Luke's reply "I'm sorry??!" Hahaha great video all around

With the race already over if you keep the car try fixing it for E85. Would love to see that! I definitely think the wiring to the pump has too much resistance. The Demon uses 12 guage wire and I think the Camero uses 16 guage wire. I don't have numbers to calculate voltage drop. New injectors might also help.
@dkis8730
Жыл бұрын
Dude there's no way 12 vs 16 gauge can drop voltage that much. Voltage drop is like a couple percent at the most.
@silasmayes7954
Жыл бұрын
@@dkis8730 the Demon pump draws somewhere between 15-25 amps. I could get an exact number when looking online. Anything more than 10 feet of wire and you'd get at least 5-10% drop depending on various factors (primarily amperage). It isn't a lot, but it could be just enough.

She's mint for the budget and purpose👍. Nice work.
Pro tip. Clean the hub corrosion with a wire brush and apply anti sieze before installing wheels or spacers.
At 19:48 a quick tip for stuck wheels, use a rubber coated deadblow on the backside of the wheel and 9/10 times it’ll pop right off. If a when doesn’t fall off first thing I do is grab a deadblow and tap it if nothing I give her a good swing and that gets it most of the time

Question, what the rim and tire size on the Corvette rear wheels? What size spacer did you use to get the wheels to fit in the wheel well? How thick was the spacer? Did you have to recenter the axle? Was their any rubbing or anymore modifying you did in the wheel well? I'm planning on putting on 19 x 11 Corvette wheels on my 97 Camaro. 18x9.5 front and 19x11 rear.
what i like about this series is you can see the REAL WORLD issues most of us 'blue collar' enthusiasts deal with. I make good money but i have a house, multiple cars, kids, etc and cant afford to just go buy a $50k+ vehicle and toss another $30k in parts in it to make it fast...toss money at a shop who turn-key's your fast car and you just go pick it up. The fact that this old Camaro is in pretty much the exact shape most of us would buy it if we wanted a budget RWD tire shredder...and the parts are eBay/budget upgrades is pretty cool. Two big American thumbs up for this series, I'm putting a bigger turbo in my 2016 Focus ST likely next month and it'll still only hit about 500whp with a much higher parts cost than this Camaro...if i didnt have to fit two kids seats in the back, I'd be gettin myself a Camaro ^_^
13:28 I work as an electronic technician for an aerospace company. Building wiring harnesses, giant refrigerator sized computer cabinets, and other items like that. Yes... veeerry satisfying work. Throw on some music, or an audiobook, and my entire day flies by.
Nice thing about ls stuff is being able to hange the over/underspeed timing to make it chop or chop hard.
This is so awesome! I watched this twice and reminded a bunch! Great content! Can't Wait till next week!

@73gent16 good point. or the camaro could easily mess up on the launch by just spinning the tires. It's not a given either way.
I love this build series. It's probably my favorite so far.
21:11 did you put those wheels back on with those discs covered in penetrating fluid?
May check voltage. GM Alternators often drop voltage at RPM. ESP. cheap reman auto store alternators. My autozone alt would quit charging at 5k rpm or so. Good alternator, or a big pulley to slow it down fixes it. The fuel pump doesn't put out diddly when the voltage drops. Those intank pumps are garbage anyway. The inline AEM400's are what you want IMO. Also E50 fuel will go a LONG way if you are having fuel supply voltages. Its a much better fuel than 93.
Edit- i was watching before ecu. Bricked. Wideband senaor is def not more that 6-8 inches from housing lol def would have used br7ef plugs which usually parts store has in stock and it's a non protruding plug. I re-pinned my 98 harness for a 0411 pcm from a truck which is a much better ecu and doesn't brick and take a crap as easily also.
Love this series 😎
For future reference. Put toothpaste on the hood dump, set hood on hood dump, see exactly where you need to cut
PB blaster 💪 Saved me sooo many times on my 98 Sti wagon
I hope you cleaned that PB Blaster off those pads and rotors

power with little traction. are you guys able to do boost by gear?????? think it would be good for the rally cross
I must admit I enjoyed your "America" music. (: That Camaro looks to be pushing and moving. What'll be next? The race?
Jfc dropping the oil pan doesn’t take long. Worth a few minutes to keep shavings out of it 😅
that "im sorry?" cut is cinematic perfection
That was a very good video, it's very interesting to see how things are made step by step
Yeahhhh! That satisfying sound of the bald eagles! Can't wait for the race!!
To all the idiots saying "u dont need a relay" "why do u need a relay""hellcats dont have a relay" "i know everything about electricity" clearly not u idiots when your have a bigger aftermarket pump in a older car like that your powering it thru tiny 16 gauge wire if not smaller you run a relay that takes power straight from your battery and give the pump the proper voltage and only uses the factory tiny wiring to turn on the relay to send the proper voltage to the bigger fuel pump
Ben wearing a cardigan and khakis working on his car is too funny haha
24:29 "I'm sorry?" Is GOLD
So I can’t wait to see the end of this series but I’m thinking I already see the outcome here. It’s crazy how light this beast is all stripped out! Stoked for the match up.. she’s gonna rip! Love for both vehicles in the build off
Just a tip when drilling the oil pan for a return line, its helpful to use grease on the bit while drilling slowly to catch the shavings, same with threading.
I love that when it started you guys played the star spangled banner
if you run bolt on spacers always torque the spacer to the hub and the wheel to the spacer
So, the easy way to get off stuck wheels is to put a couple lug nuts back on and back them of a turn or so and then lower the car so the wheel has weight on it. If that alone doesn’t do it, a whack or 2 with a sledge hammer (with a chunk of wood in between) against the wheel (with the weight of the car still on it) does it EVERY time. Great video as always. Thank you 😊
Damn Bill! That is so awesome! Good work mate! I’m from Australia and I grew up with mum in a ‘69 Mach1, Dick Johnson racing a fox body in Australia’s V8 Tintop racing series and just love them. I’m in a Whipple ‘18 Stang now and will end up with an old school Mustang when I retire to tinker on. I would love a Fox Body, but they are very rare here. Most likely will get a ‘65 notch back. Great work sharing your loves, inspires us all!
Thank you for making the day that much better G&G
I wonder how many budget, "D-I-Why?" turbo setups this series will inspire. 😅
Sounds like y'all are running out of fuel injector. Tuned in!
hitting stuck wheels from behind on the lip of the rim with a deadblow will nearly always break them free first try
As soon as you guys said hellcat pump I was like well I hope they get a relay and some type of voltage booster to isolate it from the rest of the electrical system. Live and learn.
I doubt the pump need any more voltage if so does it seem like it would be stated that it runs at 16v or whatever it wants but I assume it just needs more current
The gears and gasoline boys are hooked on the chop-chop🤣😂
Hell, that’ll give Ruby a run for her money, right there 🕶️🇺🇸🕶️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
can you do a volvo 240 race track build? with the redblock thats in it?
True LS budget build. It doesn’t need to be perfect. As long as it works 👍🏽
I love how the edits have been more and more memey lately
Why do people think that value springs need to be stiffer to " hold back the boost" , that's not how internal combustion works. The cam pushes the valves open and it's not during the combustion cycle except for a very short period of time depending on the cam. The valve springs Never " hold" the valves closed against boost pressure. If that were true, which it isn't, boost would hold the valves closed, not open them. I've heard more than one person say that and they need to stop.
Are any of the extra parts for sale interested in that grill insert lol
This should be live in theaters
Two totally different approaches between you and the hubble mechanic. Great
Love the subtle star spangled banner
Should’ve just done 93 and octane booster at that point
I wonder if any of that slag hanging down the charge pipes will make its way through the turbo
I wonder how they plan to keep dust and dirt out of the up-pipe while doing rallycross... can't wait to find out lol

More air flowing out to keep anything from falling in lol
pump is probably fine, my guess is the injectors couldnt handle the extra fuel and were at their limit
Usually cam sensor will not fore the first time then second time fire once it realized its 180 out. Should be able to do RTT with that new ecu also which will make life easier.
@8SecSleeper

RTT on stock ecu, isn't worth the hassle, Just use a datalog.
The fuel line is either not big enough or your fuel pressure regulator isn't regulating pressure properly
The ghost cam sealed it for me 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Bruh I died when the star spangled banner started to play in the background 😂
Even the stock fuel pump needed a direct wire from the battery. It was one of the mods from back in the day.
"Beefiest spacers I've ever seen, these are like inch and a half" My 88 nissan hardbody over here with 3 inch spacers 😂
Im not sure if its because you guys are trying to defend the tuner guy or what but the ecu wasnt the issue. He bricked it by mapping it without a jump box when the car lost power it locked the ecu. Always have atleast 13v when putting a new map

She runs but it’s hard to say who will actually win over all I’m sure the Camaro will out run the mustang but as far track and rally I think mustang has it because humble mechanic put a lot of work into the suspension and caster camber tuning also added nitrous. In my opinion I feel the mustang will win
