Street Photography in Baghdad, Iraq
Last month, I joined a group trip my friend was hosting in Iraq.
It was a last-minute decision to go there. This was the morning before meeting the group, and exploring an unexplored neighborhood in Baghdad would be interesting.
This is my first experience exploring and doing street photography in Iraq, so I hope you can enjoy and take away something from this video :)

Tourists from all over the world have begun to come to Iraq after it became a safe country. I am truly happy and I tell you that the Iraqi people are all happy after we finally emerged from wars and chaos and began to build our destroyed country from scratch. These moments are among the happiest days that Iraqis live. Currently, the urban development and projects that are currently taking place are very large, and we expect that in 2025, Iraq will be one of the leading and developed countries 💖 Welcome to your country, Iraq. We love everyone

There’s something even only Iraqis know the wars won’t stop the European and American refuse to let Iraq advance and let Iraq become modern every time Iraq tried to do that they started a war or bombings I don’t know how the heck but that’s how it is and for Syria it just seems like they want it wiped so much people are suffering there.

The most dangerous thing to do in Iraq is to start a conversation because they will talk for hours 😂

That interaction with the two guys definitely changed my perception of Iraq. The hospitality and kindness was great to see.

This is the first time I watch this type of video by a foreign KZreadr. I have never seen a photographer photographing the streets of Baghdad. I wish you a happy trip and I wait for you to come to Holy Karbala.
At first it seems super hostile to walk through unknown streets, as a foreigner, I don't know what you felt but that's what street photography is about. I love this video because it shows a little about what the people are like there, their culture, friendliness, etc.

Two things: 1. Chug the Pepsi, finish it off, return the bottle to them so they can recycle it. 2. In Arab cultures, it is always considered polite to accept eating with those who invite you, you might also make great friends who can help you discover the city and be there in case you need help. 3. Iraqi's are very friendly and hospitably like many other Arabs, they are a very social culture and very curious people.
soo the people of iraq is nice ,not as reported by western media

Of course, they worship tourists and kiss the ground they walk on, and if youre a woman youd get the special treatment of catcalling and being followed around.
I am so very happy to see more tourism to Iraq, i currently live in Baghdad and i love the fact that more people are seeing Iraq for the country it is and not a hellscape full of gang violence and shady people. Im happy you had a good experience here.
Welcome to Iraq. I wish you could come to northern Iraq, to my city of Mosul, the city of prophets, antiquities, and the Assyrian civilization. I liked the video, Khastak. I am also a photographer from the city of Mosul. We Iraqis welcome all visitors coming for the purpose of tourism. My greetings to you.

@@Taqi142 This is absolutely not true, and the evidence for my words is now that the citizens of Mosul live in peace. Mosul is a beautiful and very ancient city with religious and cultural diversity.
What an experience! It's nice to see Iraq this way. Very genuine 🙂 great photos btw!
What a pleasant experience! The people there are very friendly and kind. It’s hard to work past stigmas I’m happy you got to see the bright side of Iraq!
I suggest you go with a tour guide to see the beautiful cultural areas and ancient monuments. I wish you a happy trip ♥️

As a Moroccan, I can attest that Arab people are renowned for their hospitality and generosity. While language barriers may pose challenges in communication, they often extend invitations to their homes for meals. and thank you for the video! I hope to visit Iraq one day too.
To have such interested and welcoming interactions with your subjects is so great. Catching real moments with people who are earnestly willing to share their life with you is a dream for a photographer. My heart would be racing with excitement when the older boy asked to come inside and take more photos. Congrats on a great shoot day! The Iraqi people are so warm. What an interesting time to visit as they rebuild
Bro you shouldn't be scared walking anywhere in Baghdad or any other city in Iraq. People are very sociable, friendly and generous
This is important work! I'm sure it started out as just a trip, but the impact is so much more. A win for all parties involved: for the local Iraqis, yourself, and your audience. It's important to show the no-frills, mundane everyday life of a people, especially ones who have been under/misrepresented in media. And you don't normally get this view from more formal presentations (news, documentaries, etc.). What's WILD though was the kid operating the whole bulldozer, just amazing! Lastly, this video gave me similar vibes to what I felt just walking around an inaka in Japan that one time.
very wholesome video! and you're very humble with a great eye for street. for some reason i was bawling my eyes out by the end of the video.
all love to you bro from Iraq thank you
I went to school at the same time the Iraq war started kicking off and we eventually welcomed a few Iraqi kids who had come over as refugees with their families. Even with a bit of a language barrier, I will always remember the stories they would tell about their home and it has stuck with me to this day. I'd love to come and visit one day, maybe take a film 35mm and a Mamiya 7ii since I think these streets will come alive with film.
Let’s be honest that custom wide body green ford GT was the star of this video
Thank you for making tgis vdieo - the world needs to see this side of Iraq.
I love this, really thoughtful photography
I wish my city was a lot cleaner, but either way glad your experience wasn't too bad. Welcome! I hope in a few years there will be a lot more to see in Baghdad.

The best part is the people and culture, the worst part is that it’s unclean but Iraq has the potential for greatness.

Thank u so much for coming to my country,i really appreciate your opinion, there’s alot of beautiful places u can visit💗💗💗
Welcome to Iraq, I am happy to see a lot of tourists coming to my country after the war ended. Iraq is now safe, but the infrastructure is very poor. We have been at war for almost 40 years. There are a lot of projects being implemented now, but everything in Iraq needs to be modernized and rebuilt. We need at least 10 years to return to what we were. I hope that the government will work faster and create more infrastructure projects. We are a hospitable people and we will be happy to welcome all peoples to visit Iraq or live in Iraq. 🇮🇶❤️🌏
Now, I am excited to experience Iraq too. Thank you Kohki! :)
I'm glad you enjoyed your stay in Baghdad. It has a lot of beautiful places, i hope we'll see you again here. I also hope i can one day come to Japan
I've heard people in Islamic countries are very friendly and hospitable. This is what street photography is about, interaction and documentation.
This is probABLY MY favorite photowalk of anything so far!

Thank you for visiting my city, Kohki! I'm having trouble taking good photos in Baghdad with my Xperia 1 III 😅
U showed Baghdad for what it really is I hope you will come to Iraq again to see different cities 💙 🇮🇶
You gave this family some beautiful memories. That would make the whole trip worth it to me.
Wow, so amazing to do street photography in Iraq 🇮🇶. Initially I would have been a bit apprehensive because of all the wars and stories of potential trouble, but I’m so glad it worked out well and the people were so nice. I guess people everywhere are generally nice but a few rotten apples may also exist.
My guy walking around Baghdad and taking pictures with a Leica. That's, that's flex ngl.
Nice hospitality, lovely people and good lesson in photography, peace.
Great video , well done
It's very nice that people in Iraq are so kind! I always feel awkward when taking photos, because I'm worried that people will get angry at me for taking photos of them, same as you said in the beggining of the video

⚠️⚠️⚠️🔴🔴🔴 As an Iraqi citizen living in Baghdad, when I saw the waste in the video! I was very sad! Although I loved the arrival and visit of foreigners to my country, Iraq Therefore, I advise everyone who wants to come to Iraq / Baghdad There is another side to the city, a cleaner and more refined side. I hope you will visit it Yes, every city has a negative and positive side But I hope to focus on the positives in the future Another tip from a photographer, the camera is a very important element The size of the lens and screen increases the enjoyment of photography and the acceptance of passers-by when they hear the sound of the camera shutter and the large size of the lens. Try that
😂Wow, my school was close to where you filmed, but I did not have the opportunity to meet you. It will be a nice interview because I understand English a little. You are welcome in Iraq at any time, and frankly, it is a beautiful video that you are showing the world a beautiful picture of Iraq and the kindness in it. Greetings, Amir. ❤❤
The photos look amazingggg
Never thought the day that Iraq became calmed again, still having cautious optimism though. Maybe when I'm finally having courage to solo travel, it could be the one place I go😂

Nice video, I laughed in surprise as the small kids drove that thingi, meanwhile majority of adults don't know to to operate it. Nice mentality taking pictures of true things, such as empty spaces that you usually miss in Japan, not only fancy malls, garden and and natural scenery... What camera are you using, it does print the pictures, usually I would expect high quality camera to be like that, I love photography and videography, Nikon for photos and Canon and Sony for videos and photos, such as the A series and S series.. what camera do you recommend and lens specs for video graphy and photography, in all comditions including indoors and low light, nog so expensive between 1 to 5 thousand USD including the lens, memory and all...

Having known a bunch of Arabs, I can assure you that you can just talk to them. They absolutely love trying to talk with foreigners/ travelers about all sorts of stuff, even if they cant speak English. Or just say "salaam" when passing by people who are staring at you like you have two heads. They are are as weirded out by you as you are by their staring.
