This is the winning comment for the book. Hey Ernest, congrats, you won! What's your Instagram handle?
Matt's work is underrated. His pictures still hold that heavy nostalgic photojournalistic look without being pretentious. Love how humble he is, real OG

Honestly I’m upset I’m just now learning about him. I’m a professional photographer and I think this guys work might be my favorite
Matt undersells himself, a true legend of the street. The 911 photo is probably one of the most memorable shots of the past 30 years.
Matt's astonishing photography has become an essential documentation of New York over the last 30+ years. It's so great to hear him talk about his work and his insights are fascinating.

Without a doubt the most impactful video you have made.
The part where Matt said "all you really hope for is to be in the conversation" (10:23). That part hit home for me AND I think Matt should be in those conversations. Please don't sleep on the Harlem work you captured in the 80's I would love to see them.

Maybe I'm being dumb, but what does he mean by that? Cheers

@@lost422ever He just means artists want to be a name that comes up when people talk about a specific thing they're trying to be a part of - they don't want to be left out of a movement they're working within.
When you think these videos can't get any better... Matt going through his own book and talking about the photos has to be one of the most special moments in the series. At least it felt like that to me. Amazing work Paulie
That 9/11 shot is top tier.. All of his work is crazy! Awesome guy
"You gotta love it, otherwise what's the point." Says it all.
One of my favorite street photographers. Thanks for this Paulie.
I love the balance between talking to older folks and the energy of younger folks. Getting back into it and transitioning from feeling young to feeling old, it's nice to be reminded of that hunger for a good roll or hunting for a good shot. But I like the feeling some of the older photographers give where they've really stewed in this a bit.
Nothing better than Matt’s story … from cab-ing the streets of NYC to documenting NYC. Power to the old school NYC photographers & thanks Matt for all the magical images you created and shared! ✌️ from a fellow older (64 years) street photographer. THANKS Paulie 📸
Brilliant conversation with such an amazing and experienced guy. Refreshing to see someone shooting with something other than a Leica, proves that if you know what you are doing, you can shoot with anything
Watching your walkie talkies especially with legends like Matt, Reuben, and Melissa has given me so much inspiration. As a young photographer it's the first time I've truly listened to the philosophy of photography, the importance of looking inwards to capture what's outward. Never stop making these videos.
The time and attention to the craft over time is an inspiration
Always get really happy when a walkie talkie is released. I tend to enjoy the older population of photographers the most who have really seen the streets change.
Listening to these veteran photographers is always interesting. They've seen the craft go in all sorts of directions, and their work/mission has remained the same.
yeah, I like this guy. Series is very interesting as well, great idea.
You’re killing it Paulie!
Matt has the most honest and pragmatic approach to street photography I’ve ever heard. Thanks Paulie for including him in your series.
Matt embodies what I think of when I think "Street photography", absolute legend.
Matt’s photos show history. Hopefully he’s able to do a photo book or something. All these photos in this video are great.
The best SP series in the interwebs! Probably the only one of its kind, so because of it we get to know more photographers worthy of getting highlighted.
Excellent episode. Matt Weber truly is a gifted photographer.
THIS is why I'm a street photographer! Excellent upload from a humble guy!… That World Trade Centre shot! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWEEEE! 💗
to have a body of work brimming with life like matt’s is something to aspire to. thank you paulie for continuing to document other photographers and keeping true to the medium
This guy has something very down to earth about him, yet so profound. Amazing photographer, too. Thanks for sharing.
Your work is absolutely mesmerizing! The way you capture real-life moments is so powerful and emotional. That photo of a mother and child with Tower 2 on fire in the background is incredibly moving. It's a reminder of the strength and resilience of humanity. And your photo of street fights captures the raw intensity of urban life. Thank you for sharing these breathtaking moments with us. Your work deserves to be celebrated.

Matt Weber will probably never get the recognition be deserves as a photographer but just hearing him him talk, and you can tell he adores and understands photography in a way very few people ever reach.

@@medes5597 yes I agree.
Hi from the UK, absolutely love Matt’s photography and his honest straight talking style, very humble guy
I also have be shooting (on and off) since the mid 80’s but in the last five years when I discovered street photography, it hooked me! The streets are now my therapy.
Guys the realest, and if you find him in nyc, he’s always down to talk.
the photo @ 2:20 is absolutely wild. Thank you so much Paulie, please keep these coming. I feel like I owe you a beer or something.
One of the highlights of my time at Pop Photo was the day Matt walked into our office with his portfolio of street photos, mostly from his cab. It blew us away. Matt's work continues to impress!
the picture of the kid playing on 9/11 was insane, awesome episode!
I can't express how much these videos inspire me to get out and take more photos. Incredible work
Love is the fragility/vulnerability you're willing to give to another person
Matt's book, 'Street Trip' is one of my all time favourite photography books, so to see him on here has been brilliant. Thank you.
His banter reminds me of the movie "The Soloist". Its just his cadence and tone more than anything.
This episode he wasn’t asked what he shoots. Love that he’s using an Olympus…micro 4/3 fore street is underrated.
I appreciate this dude talking, had a lot of important, interesting things to say.
I just wanted to say Thank You. As a beginner i watch your videos and learn so much that it would take me decades to do without them. Keep doing your thing, you inspire others and thats a powerful thing.
How devoted Mat is after all these years is inspirational
These walkie talkies are such a valuable resource for anyone pursuing photography. Very grateful that you are continuing to make these while sharing your own work as well. Cheers!
The real life of real street photographers….I love your Walkie Talkie series!
his photos are unbelievable
This walkie talkie hit man. His stories and recounting of the photos were amazing. Not to mention the photos themselves. Matt has definitely cracked my personal top 5.
As someone relatively new to street photography and learning about all the nyc photographers out there these videos have been my absolute favorites.
One more thing, when Matt said “there are a lot of photographers creating street work but not a lot, creating great work , thats , got to be the most inspiring comment , because if you are creating work instantly, after hearing that comment you want to be one that is creating great work!!!
Loved this interview
Love this channel. That 911 photo is something else. What a slice of life!
Stream of consciousness king. Mad respect for the deep intrinsic love he has for the craft
No lack of passion here, Matt out here doing it for the love of street photography.
I'm not in the USA but I'm delighted to be following Matt on IG and more than happy to leave (yet another) comment praising this inspirational series 🔥🔥🔥
I met Matt a few years ago at Photoville and he was a cool dude. He was down to chat it up with me and my daughters and was cool enough to let me take a polaroid of him. Great video on Matt and his awesome photography work!
Great to hear a real NYC guy on his method and long career. Another terrific feature Paulie.
Paulie is in the conversation for sure. These videos will be an archive for years, and generations of photographers to come.
the walkie talkies been on fire. what great captures from Matt.
finally a photographer taking his time walking down the street. i'm from dallas, and to me i guess it seems like everyone walks so fast on the episodes lol. idk just something i noticed. i get the mentality of being in people way in NYC or something idk.
Matt’s images are amazing! Everything I love about street photography!
Love this
What a cool cat man. I really liked the wisdom he spread in this video, photos were phenomenal, your videos always inspire me to create art, not photos, art.
I really enjoyed Matt's candid and unburdened photographic style. His photos evoke nostalgia and honesty, and don't come across as over stylized. The honesty captured in those moments is very impactful. Thank you for this episode!
love these videos man! keep up the good work
This was one of the best walkie talkies i've seen yet wow
Another great one!❤
Matt is the real deal, one of the best photogs working the streets here.
Another great Walkie Talkie! Matt's work is stellar!
Wow! Thanks for introducing me to Matt Webber. His photos are amazing. I love them all, especially the 9/11 and the Starbucks lady.
Another great one!
Loved it!
Thanks Matt and Paulie! So many lessons learned! Great episode!
Love these keep em coming Paulie
This is one of my favorite Walkie Talkies so far. Always exciting to find new art and artists on this channel and Matt’s work is amazing. Keep up the great work!
Great Walkie Talkie! I love this series and was glad to see Matt on it.
Got to see Mat around Washington Square on 420, didn’t get to talk to him, hope to see him again sometime
Wow! You don't get to hear from many people who have been photographing for so long, really cool to see his perspective on things. His philosophy definitely helps to take a lot of pressure off going out every day
really loving these videos. keep up the good work!
Such a great episode!
I honestly think this is the best interview you've had yet, amazing pictures and really good stories!
I find it really interesting that the older photographers (Matt, Melissa, Reuben) that have been featured on Walkie Talkie all shoot digital. Not bashing film, but I think maybe it's because they started or grew up shooting film, and want to feel free of the limitations, while younger photographers grew up with no limitations, and want to put them in place. Even Saul Leiter (my personal favorite photographer) ended up abandoning film in favor of digital in his later years. Hammers home that if you are truly a good photographer, your work will be good regardless of the format. Just something I have come to notice over watching all of these great videos. Keep up the good work!
Struggling to choose "a" photo to share on social media right now... 🤪Considering a shot I took at a market in Florence. It's not a great photo, but there's a boy that has the greatest smile/face. Makes me happy ☺Thank you for this!
Appreciate you guys sharing, it takes time to get together and make these moments happen. 🤙🏼
Great episode!!🎉🎉
brilliant video as always!
Awesome series, love these.
I use to see him all the time at B&H. Super nice dude and great work.
Incredible work, Matt. Thanks for sharing.
I love this walkie talkie series Paulie, keep it up and thank you for constantly providing quality content!!!
him talking about 40-50 photographers photographing one skateboarder, i'm so one of those photographers 😭
Another banger of a video! Love Matt's down to Earth honesty. And his photos are awesome, too!
loved this one!
Man...another great video, really love this series for uncovering and introducing me to photographers who I unfortunately hadn't heard of yet. Matt's work is incredible!
Just found your channel about two weeks ago and I have loved all of the interviews! Listening to people like Matt is inspiring and it’s great to find new artists to follow on IG or other platforms.
