These guys are always taking their Squire Strats to the streets proving that you don't need expensive guitars to kick ass.
Been in Rome last week and saw this man too in Piazza Navona! He was playing some Dire Straits medley. Rome is an incredible place for street musicians. I think I listened to the whole Pink Floyd discography.
I love this guy, I love how he is so relaxed while playing.
He probably heard this song for almost 30 years now.. and he doesnt really seem to give a damn about people.. he's just doing what he loves and delivering a masterpiece cover
The name of the player is Ricky Mastantuono, you can listen at him almost every day in Rome , Piazza Navona or in front of the Pantheon!

You know some ones good when they don't even have to look at the fret board. Nice version of a classic!

+Steve Williams OR EVEN BETTER CAN SING ,NOT LOOK @ THE FRETS AND PLAY LIKE AN ace!?!?!!
Lovely. Could listen to this all day.
Proof to the positive that gear, recording equipment, has nothing on talent. Guy plays a cheap guitar, through a cheap amplifier, recorded on a mobile phone, and does a better job than some of the KZreadrs playing 4k Les Pauls through Axe FX II's, through high-end interfaces. Kudos.

***** Back when I used to gig full time, I played an old biker bar that, while ramshackle and rundown, was quite the local spot in my area. I'll never forget walking in there one night, high-end PRS in the case I was carrying, brand new 4x12 and Triple Rec in tow, beautiful peddle board with a few thousand dollars of peddles laced up with overpriced cabling, and here's this local guy playing a shitty, beat up SG on stage, through an old classic Fender amp. He played with his fingers and kept a slide in between his clenched knees; he was a dried up prune of a man, but when his hands hit the strings, it sent shivers up my spine. I'm a "good" guitarist, never been a great one, by any stretch, and I have a studio filled with gear. And here is this man with his eyes closed, playing "The Ballad of Curtis Loew" through equipment that wasn't as good as the shit I had when I was a teenager playing in garage bands, and he's nearly bringing me to tears.

***** Same story man. I've got an American Custom 24, and an S2 Custom 22 hanging on the wall, among some other pretty nice guitars; the 24 was nearly 4k, barely gets touched. I've got an Axe FX Ultra, and some beautiful studio gear that collects dust as well. Granted I played in a popular band for a few years when I was young, so I can hang on to that at least, but I look around at this shit and it feels like a waste at times. To be fair, my career is the main thing that gets in the way, but that's not even a good excuse when I can find the time to play 20 minutes a day. I bet that 22 sounded killer through that VHT.

***** The S2's are fantastic. My S2 24 feels nearly as good as the American 24, minus the refinements with the rounded edges of the fretboard. The tone of the 24 is just a pinch nicer on the clean channels, but seriously, for less than $1500 bucks the S2's are a great value. And I have been there man. Most of my band's music was written in Dropped C; right around the time of nu-metal, although without sounding egotistical I would go out on a limb and say our stuff was much more thoughtful. But during those days I was playing the usual blend of Jackson, Ibanez, Schecter, and the occasional baratone from Fender if it had the right pickups. All of that gear just masked the problems in my playing. I had no finesse, and hadn't yet learned the nuance of really meaningful picking and strumming.

Amazing. It kills me that this video doesn't have more views, but more so that nobody (aside from those whose heads weren't displayed) was smiling or even acknowledging such great musical talent. You inspire me.
Amazing talent. If I saw him on the street id drop everything and just stop and listen.
This guy is definitely a teacher who just rocks it on the weekends.. Checkout the perfect form.
I bought his CDs there nearly 10 years ago and everytime I play them I can imagine him in Piazza Navonna.
Awesome guitar cover of one of best (if not the best) songs of the legendary Led Zeppelin band, KUDOS to you Sir! God bless and keep uploading videos like this -
Piazza Navona is always full of surprises!!
great songs live on forever. Travel the world you will hear and see this again and again. WRITE a great song and leave your legacy !
this man plays so beautifully, it's soothing of how he's playing stairway to heaven 😍
Saw him live last week. he was just brilliant.
Pretty darn good. Wish we could've heard the whole thing.
Hey he's an old guitarists that's been playing for 40 years. All you young guys keep practicing maybe you'll be this good if you practice every f in day because that's what it takes. I know because I'm one of those old fs that has been playing for the last 40 years.

omg, I love his music. I was visiting Rome in 2019, and heard his music - still listening to his music right now from my recording. I wish I asked if he has records to sell. Glad i found him here!
I saw this guy when I went to Rome two years ago, he was playing Let it Be (there's a video in my channel) :) I wish I had bought his CD
Awesome! Thank's for sharing. (Marco, Brasil)
