Street Food in Central Jakarta🇮🇩
Today I eat some street food in central Jakarta. First, though, I had to drop off some laundry at a local laundromat, then from there, we head to the national monument, just to find out that it is still closed. Why? I don't know, malls and shops are open but outdoor places like this remain closed. I then eat at a couple street food spots, one selling ayam bakar, and the other selling mie ayam. Both were fantastic. From there, I head to go look for a sim card for my pocket wi-fi. Overall, a fun day wandering around central Jakarta. Thanking for joining me, see you in the next one!
Hari ini saya makan beberapa makanan jalanan di Jakarta Pusat. Namun, pertama-tama, saya harus menurunkan cucian di binatu lokal, lalu dari sana, kami menuju ke monumen nasional, hanya untuk mengetahui bahwa itu masih tutup. Mengapa? Entahlah, mall dan toko buka tapi tempat outdoor seperti ini tetap tutup. Saya kemudian makan di beberapa tempat makanan jalanan, yang satu menjual ayam bakar, dan yang lainnya menjual mie ayam. Keduanya fantastis. Dari sana, saya pergi mencari kartu sim untuk wifi saku saya. Secara keseluruhan, hari yang menyenangkan berkeliaran di sekitar Jakarta Pusat. I visited jakarta 15 years ago and I love the popcorn in Dufan, that's the best popcorn I ever try besides my homemade popcorn called blendung, for the street food I'm a little bit concern about the food safety since I don't really now jakartans personally

Emang masalah pengamen ini bikin resah banget sih, meskipun memang udah pernah dibilangin sama pemerintah untuk gak ngasih uang ke pengemis atau pengamen gitu karena mereka bakal keterusan ngelakuin hal itu

Paling males pengamen di kota tua, setiap menit ada aja yg Dateng bergantian, bukannya duit abis buat jajan malah abis buat bayar pengamen yg selalu bergantian, ga mau pergi sebelum di kasi duit, pas di kasi pergi gitu aja tanpa terimakasih 🥴

As someone who was born and raised in Jakarta my whole life and now living overseas, watching this aches my heart. I yearn to go back. The chaotic streets that are blocked with street vendors and motorcycles trying to sneak through... It will always be my home. Thank you for the video Nick, it healed my homesickness a bit.

There's a saying famous in Jakarta among job seekers, "Ibukota itu kejam" or "this city is cruel". It represents how people work so hard in anyway to make money. Alot of sacrifices to reach it. Indeed you have to be careful if you meet strangers and if you buy something you should ask for more details because many people use you to earn money. You should learn Indonesian even a little so that there is no cheating in buying something.... Basically, Indonesian people are very friendly, especially with foreigners. If you need to understand your language, you should use a translation application.

you should pour the"soup"to the noodles. it's the normal way eating mie ayam (chicken noodles). they serve it separately because there are a few people who prefer to eat it the way you do

what was in the little orange bowl was the gravy for the noodles. You should pour the gravy into the noodles to mix it up. because the gravy is broth for the taste of the noodles themselves.
Nick you should eat chicken noodles (MIE AYAM) mixed with chili and tomato sauce and put dumpling broth so the chicken noodles you eat taste good. I hope you can visit Sumatra, Bandar Lampung one day. And hope one day I can return to Indonesia and visit my hometown Bandar Lampung. Enjoy your day Brother Nick 👍🏻

kecap manis means sweet soy sauce. tomato sauce = saus tomat. sambal = sambal (really spicy, better becareful). mie ayam = chicken noodle. mie ayam komplit = chicken noodle serve complete with wonton and beef meatball

The laundry price shocked me. I’m Indonesian living in Jakarta Timur (East Jakarta). Laundry here is price per kg. Your laundry might only be 2 kg max. With the price of Rp 6,000 /kg, it should be about Rp 12k. If same day (4 hours) maximum Rp 20k ( $ 1.30)
