This 4 Rotor Mazda 26B Engine is the equivalent of a short stroke highly cammed V12 engine. But unlike normal piston V12 engines, it produces way over 700HP without turbo from just a 2,600CC engine, where on the other hand a normal V8 / V12 needs to have atleast 6,000CC to produce that much horsepower without a turbo, so therefore the 26B rotary is the most efficient natural aspirated engine in the world yet!

i won't go into the why because google does a better job of that. but if we were fairly comparing rotary and piston displacement we would actually say that a rotary engine displacement is actually 1.95 litres multiplied by the number of rotors. so a 2 rotor (13B) is actually equivalent to a 3.9 litre piston engine....and to be honest it's probably even more than that because rotaries actually produce less power from the same amount of air as piston engines do... all that aside, i still love rotaries. they are excellent race engines. they sound amazing when they are modified. and by design they breath way better than piston engines, so really the best thing you can give a rotor is a turbo to force as much air in as possible. the one in this video is NA, so with 4 rotors, it closer to a 7.8 litre v12 (all of a sudden 600hp sounds about right)... ps. i would own this car within a heartbeat if i could

steve6493 Having been part of the discussions over displacement on rotaries since 1990 or so, it is valuable to note what Steve says here. You take the number of combustion events in one turn of the eshaft times the displacement to get some sort of comparison. However, they really are not comparable in most ways. Suffice it to say that the rotary engines are way smaller and lighter. Imagine the size and weight of the hypothetical 7.8 liter V12 and you get the idea of just how small these are.

Lloyd Carrillo it's rather simple, on normal 4 stroke engine, 1 complete cycle with 1 power stroke will turn the crank twice(720 degrees), but on rotary engine you have 3 power strokes to make the crank turn ONCE(360degrees).... so in simple words, the 2.6L rotary equals to a 7.8L otto cycle 4 stroke engine, 7.8L to make 700hp is not that unexpected..in contrast, Honda S2k's F20c makes 125hp per 1L... hope it helps

+Tom Bowie Well, you'd need to get an eccentric shaft made up and then find 4 each of the rotors, housings and seal sets! You'd need a budget of at least $50,000 to get the job done... it's definitely not a cheap engine to build and even then you can expect only 50,000 kilometers out of it before it needs a rebuild... if you drive the thing on the redline at 10,000 you'll only get 30,000 kilometers out of them... Insane, I know.

So, that means that you like stock rx7? I have to admit that it's design is well ahead of it's time, but trust me, it's not even near the looks of a modern cars. Look up for, let's say, new NSX, Mclaren P1, Subaru BRZ... Pop up headlights are so 90's. With a decent modification, this car could look like Lambo IMO.

Yep but it's not street registered or street legal - just for competition. Scoot, who built this engine have been doing quad rotors for years now... but they are very expensive engines to build.

This car seems that is not ready yet. I doubt this is more than 400hp in this video. Its an old video though, maybe today this project achived something close to 600hp. 800 to 1200hp???? Come on lol...By the way owner and builder said that the car needs a lot of final tuning to achive a reliable motor with 600hp

I assume that Scoot took cars of 公認車検 (kounin shaken) to make the car street legal considering its 2016 and the car would have had to have its inspection done recently. So many sites say that the 26B can never be made street legal, but either Scoot did or they paid someone off to stamp the papers and get the tag. If so, good for them.
